We hired Kapps green lawn to fertilize /weed control our lawn Sept. 2021. Kapps offered an aeration/overseed also in sept 2021 (paid by check $980.75) . We were so impressed with the way our whole yard looked, we decided to continue service through 2022. We paid ($894.18 by check ) Jan 2022 for whole upcoming season for their services. Fast forward to this spring. Beautiful green grass but there are dead patches in a few areas that are multiplying and tree lawn is infected with it now. I had mentioned to technician in june that this is becoming a problem, to which I never received an answer as to what weed it was. By mid August 2022 dry spongy patches covering 50% of our front lawn (along with creeping ******* and crab grass reappearance). I spoke with the landscaper who installed the lawn about this. He diagnosed it as bent grass. The remedy is to kill it with an herbicide and reseed because bent grass kills the lawn underneath . *** a manager from Kapps arrived today to discuss this issue. He stated "we dont take care of this". I then asked (2 times!) why the Kapps website says " our techs monitor your lawn to alert you to any potential issues before they become serious problems. GUARANTEED! He again said " we dont take care of bent grass , you got it from a neighbor". Then he stated "your neighbor had it. It came from him" last year or yr before" So it was diagnosed by you for a neighbor but not for us. *** was clearly was not going to work with us. Landscaper estimate is $3000 to $ 4000 to kill, scrape and reseed our lawn. But we paid Kapps to keep our lawn pristine? We have pride of ownership and this looks terrible. We feel that this company is not standing behind their website guarantee. No where does it state what issues they WILL NOT cover. Only that they will take care of serious issues before they become issues. GUARANTEED. We are left with a half dead lawn that could have been prevented if they would have told us like they told our neighbor.

      Ms.******,
We are in receipt of your notice of dated 08/31/2022 regarding the above complainant.
Our stance on this matter is rather simple and direct:
      1.       The complaint that Ms. ****** has is a result of weather-related stresses on one particular type of turfgrass which was present at the time we began service for her in 2021.  Because this grass is not unusual and is not considered a weed or a problem no action was taken on our part.  She clearly stated that her lawn looked good, and she wanted to continue services.
      2.       This summer has stressed this grass and therefore it did what it should do, and that is to protect itself from the environmental conditions. For the most part these spots will recover with the cooler and typically moister conditions of the fall.  We can not control the weather or how the grasses react to it.
      3.       I am happy to personally treat her lawn for any broadleaf weeds and crabgrass that have come up or remain as part of our service call policy.
      4.       We will not pay for the removal and reseeding of areas that already existed when we took over service of the lawn in 2021.   Removing this variety of grass is a choice not a necessity.
      5.       We will be happy to return the unused funds from her prepayment for this season or continue to treat her lawn upon her decision.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
