Around $20,000 was paid to this business. This happened: 1) BASEMENT DRAIN: They forgot to cover a basement drain. Concrete/concrete dust got into this drain and clogged it. $3000 repair estimation. This was the final straw that lead to this review. If this had been the only drain in my house, this may have been negligence on the level of criminality. Luckily it’s disconnected from most of my plumbing and only renders the downstairs kitchen and utility rooms partially inoperable. 2) RIPPED CARPET: Carpet needed to be removed to access basement floor/foundation to install piers. They tore it for some reason multiple locations. No reason that should have ever happened. Simply remove baseboards, lift carpet and be careful. They weren’t careful (and never notified me the carpet had been torn). It's possible the carpet was torn when they went to put it back (I can't be certain) but that is less likely. They also didn't put it back correctly. They said they "don't do carpet" and that would be fine if it had been mentioned in the contract (it was not). For $20k, you should do plenty. 3) PAINT: As per #2 above, a couple of baseboards were removed. They didn’t “score” above them with a blade at the top of the board, which means paint tore off with the board when they removed it. Pretty simple procedure, less-than-60-seconds to score above the board so that this doesn’t happen. Boards not put back 100% correctly either. 4) YARD: Tore up patches of front yard (with a backhoe) nowhere near where repairs were made to the front of the house. If the above problems 1 and 2 never occurred I probably would have left well enough alone and never mentioned this, but I'm already here... 5) BASEMENT LEAK: leak seal not done correctly. Came back out and squirted silicone in a very messy way all over my deck... 6) Stopped up my basement toilet (put paper towels in here – I guess I ran out of toilet paper? – didn’t know I would need any). Minor issue, but again, we're already here.
