Dropped **** **** off at Michael’s Automotive & Performance on Jan. 29, 2022 to have the transmission rebuilt, gas tank, and other work. Down payment of $1000 in cash was given to owner, *************************** at the time of drop off as well as other car parts. Numerous texts were shared regarding parts that I would purchase for the other work being done. As of April 2022, no work had been started on the car. I notified **************** that I would be picking up the car rather than having work done. Picked up car on April 14, 2022, but received no money back at that time, just the parts were returned. On May 26, 2022, I received $200 of the original down payment. I have continually texted and called but received no response as to when I would receive the balance of my money. My wife did a ****** review to Michaels Automotive & Performance on August 21, 2022 regarding the situation. I received a text from **************** approximately 2 hours after the review was posted. It was an angry text threatening lawyers and slander. I responded asking if he had the balance of the $800 owed. He did not respond. No further communication has been received.Business response

Hello, to whom it may concern. *********** did bring me a vehicle. In a trailer, barely running and in need of many repairs. That is true. As I do with all my projects I set a drop off time when a space opens. That's not a repair date FYI it's a place holding spot. As I have a waiting list for my indoor climate controlled spots where I take care of the vehicles. I did as such. Advised to what parts were needed. Keep the battery charged. Tires inflated and securely stored in a dry environment. As with all project vehicles I received a deposit. The day before it was going to go into rotation with other vehicles I was notified by *********** that his wife( the main source of income had lost her job) me being a reasonable person who understands that the world is changing I wasn't going to charge for my services and storage of that vehicle to try and help the family out. I did agree to return the deposit. I just wasn't able to at the time he picked up his vehicle because I have daily expenses like electric for example. He was less than pleased. I did get him a few hundred dollars. That did make him happy he continued to tell me his wife couldn't find a job, and they were selling off their stuff to pay bills. He started to be demanding as if he is the only person who is experiencing short comings. I did ask why his brother wasn't paying for the vehicle repairs as it was partially his vehicle as well since their dad willed it to both of them. His response was his brother doesn't pay for **** and trying was a waste of time. I found this odd since his brother has a successful chiropractic office and a brand new car. But I looked past that. I then found out I was being lied to. Either by one of the ***** brothers or both of them. They have been leaving bad reviews and saying things that are not the same as they told me. I have no choice but to bill them for my time and space now. Because before I was trying to help *********** in his bad situation that turns out to be made up just to take the vehicle home because I wasn't working on it fast enough for his liking. Even though he knew other vehicles were before him. My time has valve. My space has value. Has he been honest with me I would have set a later date and put someone who was waiting patiently in that slot. He disrupted my shop schedule. I spent time helping him load and unload as well as caring for his vehicle. He feels this isn't worth anything. I don't believe any of you at the BBB work for free. I'm sure he doesn't do landscaping for free. So why should I work for free? This is clearly an unfair and unfortunate situation. But after being lied to by two different people who am I supposed to believe? I would appreciate that these questions be answered and this complaint be disregarded because this is an attempt to extort money from me without paying for my time.Customer response

to me
********,
Here is rejection to the response submitted by the business.
I originally contacted Michaels Automotive & Performance in early 2021 to discuss work being done to the ****. We exchanged correspondence regularly during 2021 in regards to working on the **** once he had time. I dropped the car off in late January 2022 to begin work. There was no discussion that there was still a wait when I dropped the car off.
I sent numerous texts to him regarding parts that I had ordered/received and did not receive what I felt was an appropriate response considering I had already paid ******* and no work was being done to the car.
The main job that the car had been brought in for was a transmission rebuild. All other work was because he already had the car. No work was started. That is why I feel I am entitled to a full refund.
