We broke ground March 2021 We moved into the (unfinished) home November 23rd 2021 (per our contract the builder had 240 days from date of dig-we were well past that date and loosing occupancy of our temporary living arrangements) Currently (Jan 2022) there is still a laundry list of items missing/not complete. We still do not have tile in our basement bathroom and the tile in our mud room entryway is cracked/chipped and missing grout, our final grade and driveway are still temporary and they said their waiting til spring to complete, we are missing trim and crown pieces on our kitchen cabinets and in the master bath, just to name a small portion of the long list of items. Every time we contact our project manager we are given the same answer…”waiting on material/supposed to be here “this” week” several weeks later and still nothing. Our cabinets were ordered in the middle of our build so how or why we are missing trim pieces is a mystery to me. Or we hear that another one of their trades quit so they are scrambling to find anyone to finish the work. The quality of workmanship in our custom build and the communication with our builder throughout this entire process has been appalling and completely unacceptable. When we CHOSE to build with ********** ****** was the owner (which is why we chose ********** in the first place) When we were READY to build, ***** was now the owner and unfortunately we did not have the same experience moving forward. We just want our home to be completed, but completed well (like anyone would expect when building a new home) and not just thrown together by someone who is not qualified (stating this because of all the trades that have quit ********** and our project manager scrambling to find anyone to get it done) This is not what you expect from a custom build. Also, not once has ***** reached out to us and apologized. The only time is via email when he needs another bank draw signed off on. So disappointing.

      Business response

      01/17/2022

Good afternoon. Yes, there has been daily dialogue between ********** Custom Homes and the ********** (with my site super). This job has been difficult since breaking ground as the ********** have been in breach of contract no less than 250 times. This was one of the many reasons for delays as trades were interrupted daily with them in the house trying to convince the trades to do this, do that, all things outside of contract. ***** and ***** also fail to acknowledge the current state of affairs with product availability, product lead times, availability of personnel to do work. There has been one trade that could no longer do work for us due to the fact they cannot find help. We did not let them go and as soon as they can find staffing, they will be back on the jobsites.  They never one time dealt or met ****** the previous owner of ********** so again another fabrication of reality. I owned the company for 2 years prior to even meeting the **********.

There are currently two list for the completion of the house. One, items that could not be completed due to the current weather and climate (Final Grading, Top off gravel driveway and exterior painting), the bank is currently holding back funds until the completion of these items. Second list (created with the ********** and site supervisor) are as follows...Garage Texture-Complete, Exterior Corbals-Complete, Kitchen Cabinet crown molding-Incomplete (backorder issue, due here in next 2 weeks. original product came to us wrong), Porch Post Anchor-Complete, Garage Door Sensors-Complete, Install Outlet @Garage-Complete, Install window cranks-Complete, Install cabinet hardware-Complete, Install glass in pantry cabinets-Complete, Adjust bathroom Drawers-Complete, Tile grout @ Bath 4-Complete, Install sump and battery backup-Complete, Touch up Fireplace mortar-Complete, Install basement bath tile-Complete (this was a backorder issue), Replace laundry door-Incomplete (on order, lead times 18 weeks), Mud Room tile-Incomplete (manufacturer defects customer dealing directly with flooring contractor), Fix Man Door jamb-Complete, Replace a cracked window pane-Incomplete (ordered dealing with lead time issue of 13 weeks minimum), Hood install-Complete, Paint & Drywall Touch ups-Incomplete (waiting on other work to be completed).
