      Business response

      09/06/2022

On 8/10/22 around 10-11am, the customer, Mr. ****** ******, had called to report he had smelled gas and potentially had a gas leak near the water heater he had installed thru The **** ***** on 2/16/22. As the customer stated, we has technicians out there to look at the issue by 2pm but found no gas leaks present at or near the water heater. Our technicians did find a red tag from the gas company elsewhere on the gas lines, but it was not anywhere related to anything we had touched at the time of the water heater install. Our Techs inspected everything with the customer present and everyone acknowledged that there were no leaks present at that time. The gas company does not usually fix any gas leaks they find when they do an inspection, but they must've tightened the union the tagged to help the customer, otherwise there would've still been a leak. This customer was contracted thru **** ***** for the water heater install and purchase, APPC Plumbing installed the tank on behalf of The **** *****. When finished with every install, we go thru a step by step "Final Inspection Checklist" with each customer to go over the install and operation of the tank and one of the items is "Did a Soap Test for Gas Leaks" which the customer acknowledged was completed in their presence (please see attached). We were at the customer's house within hours of their call of smelling gas and they were not charged anything for this visit, even though no gas leaks were found. The customer had opened a complaint with **** ***** on this same matter, which **** ***** declined  compensation as well since we were there within a few hours and no charges were incurred, and because the area that had been tagged by the gas company was not related to our work on the water heater. At this time, APPC Plumbing Services, whom completed the install on behalf of *** **** ****** declines to compensate the customer as the gas leak that was fixed by the gas company was not anything we would have touched at the time of our water heater install, nor were we notified any time in the previous 6 months that the customer believed there was an issue present.
