We hired ***** Lopez to complete a porch project for us in February 2024. Timeline of the events below. - On February 27th 2024 we sent him a Zelle payment of $4,260 as a deposit to complete a front porch project he promised to do. -He began work on March 4th on the porch. It was some light demo and a bit of wood that was provided to the project. -On March 5th, in the afternoon, we received a "Stop work order" from the city of *****************. They notified us to submit the proper permit for the project to start work back up. - ***** promised to be meeting with the city to discuss the permit process. (we have text exchanges of ***** promising this)- March 15th, he promised that he was submitting paperwork, the city never received anything -March 21st The city came to meet in person to discuss the project with *****, He promised to submit the paperwork that was needed - March 29th, April 3, 8, and 17th we texted ***** asking for an update, no response.- Finally on April 17th he texted us back to meet us in person, we found a date to meet. - April 29th he met us in person to discuss next steps. We shared that we would like to be refunded the original deposit because he did not follow through with the promise to complete the permits with the city and complete work for us. - On May 1 we sent a summary text of what was discussed. He did not respond. - We followed up with him on May 2nd, 7th, 28th and several more times throughout the spring. - in the meantime we have had to look for a new contractor and contact the city about the unfinished porch. - On August 1 we notified him that we would be looking to take action to get refunded that money he owes to us. The proof of all of the text and email exchanges can be provided as well as the Zelle payment proof of submission. He left our porch in a construction mess and we are now so low on the budget to get it repaired. The refund of this is much needed, as it is dangerous and unusable. Thanks!
