I contacted Accurate Gutter & Chimney to inquire about chimney cleaning. Tim M******* informed me that the chimney needs to be cleaned "by city code" before the fireplace can be converted from wood to gas. Accurate arrived to clean my chimney on Nov 24. Tim completed the so called safety code checklist, and did not verify through direct observation any of the checklist items. He said the fireplace did not need cleaned and made a joke about it being easy money. Direct quote on my ring video camera. A worker went on the roof, and texted Tim a photo of my mangled screen on the fireplace cap, and asked me if I knew what a zip tie was. He said they will be back to replace it for $129. My home was inspected a few months ago. and the inspection report indicated no problems with the chimney cap inspection, and I have observed it several times this year, and the wire was not mangled and missing on one side. I wrote the check to 'Accurate Gutter & Chimney Cleaning, and Tim asked me to void the check and write it out to Tim M******* because the bank would not cash the check otherwise. After they departed, Tim texted me 'thanks for the tip'. When Tim sent a text to me on Dec 5th to reschedule, I asked more questions about the photo and so called 'code' checklist, haven't heard from him since. The city of North Ridgeville informed me that there is no code requirement to convert a fireplace from wood to gas, and this company is not registered to work in North Ridgeville.
