In October 2020, **** ******* and his crew were to install a porcelain floor in my first floor kitchen and hallway. I used **** ******* construction previously, and though the work was not perfect, he revisited the property to make sure a couple things were fixed. So, the crew finished my kitchen and hall and the next day after it was finished, I contacted **** to let him know a tile was loose. He sent one of his crew members to fix the loose tile. By the end of 2021 I began to notice that multiple tiles in the hallway had grout between them that was cracked. The tiles were also loose. I contacted **** on multiple occasions to correct it, as mopping the floor or any spillage could further loosen the tiles or lead to leaks and further damage. Each time I reached him he stated he would return to correct it, but never did. He was sent multiple photos and videos of loose porcelain tiles and cracking grout. On one occasion, he said everyone on his crew quit, so he couldn’t come out. He would respond but never showed. My tiles are continuing to loosen across my floor and many have a jagged edge as they were not placed completely flat. My infant often finds these loose pieces of grout and places them in his mouth. I paid **** $3,000 for a floor that will again need to be replaced. The ceramic floor that was replaced with this faulty floor had been in place for over 30 years with not one crack in the grout or unevenness. My final communication with **** made it clear that he would not stand begins his work when he stated that he only guaranteed his work for a year. That was never disclosed to me on the first or second job.Business response

[BBB transcription via phone call]
The business stated work was only guaranteed for 1 year. Work was completed over 2 years ago.

I am rejecting this response because: First the company did not disclose that I had 1 year for any complaints or issues. A porcelain floor should last 30 years.

******** Construction started the project, addition and remodel, in April of 2021. The day they left my property for the last time, late July 2021, they tore off the siding and left my house exposed to the elements. They put on a new roof that leaks. They had 5 building code violations on the work that they managed to complete. By the time I was able to find another contractor to finish the job, I had to pay over $15,000 just to correct the damage he already had done to my house. He failed to return any of my phone calls after he left July 23rd 2021. From the time he started the job, 4 months late in April of 2021, he was difficult to communicate with, he rarely showed up to the job site. His crew, if they did show up would show up around 9:30-10 am leave for an hour lunch and then pack up leave for the day around 2:30-3. If he or his crew put in a 6 hour day, that was a long day for them. Very shoddy work, left debris and trash everywhere, like I mentioned, 5 code violations, the addition was set at the wrong height, so it did not match the existing structure. He set the trusses wrong, he did not properly set the floor or the floor joist hangers. I have detailed pictures of all the code violations.
