Date of the transaction: 03/16/2022 Total Paid: $234.00 Business committed to provide me: A show White Christmas Nature of the dispute: Requesting a refund for tickets purchased for show unable to provide Business tried to resolve the problem by extending the reservation's value. My family and I have been patrons of LaComedia Dinner Theater for more than 40 years. Celebrating countless milestones with a “Taste of Broadway”. Last year on 3/16/22 I purchased tickets to the show White Christmas on Sunday, December 18, 2022. I’ve always purchased our show tickets as early as possible to reserve the best possible seats and table. With that being said, the future is uncertain and on December 10th, 2022, I was admitted to the hospital for spinal tumor and was diagnosed with stage IV renal cell carcinoma with bone metastasis and I continue to battle this grave diagnosis devastatingly bedridden. As a result of this I had my oldest daughter call 24-hours prior to the show to we were scheduled to see to cancel and explain our family situation and request a refund. The Box Office was very understanding and advised her to email **********************, and sent an email on December 17, 2022. My daughter received an email back from Mr. ****** expressing his solace and reiteration of their cancellation policy, extending the reservation’s value through February 12, 2023, but when someone has cancer, everyone in the family takes on new roles and responsibilities. As a family, we would have taken advantage of your generous reschedule policy but we are unable to reschedule with these life changes and circumstances and I am requesting a refund. I am not providing the details of my diagnosis for your sympathy, but I am filing this compliant because many other entertainment venues hosting live event did show compassion and accommodated a refund for the total, I paid for their shows I had planned to attend at **** ***** ***** ******* ******** ***** ******** *** **** **** ***********Business response

La Comedia’s policy regarding reservations allows customers who have purchased reservations the ability to reschedule within 30 days of the original reservation as long as they do so at least 24-hours before the performance. The stipulations were followed in this case, as we were notified before the day of the reserved performance. We in fact made an exception to our normal policy which we almost never do by allowing the reservation to be rescheduled until February 12, 2023, rather than the normal 30-day period which would have only been until January 18.
All of La Comedia’s reservations are non-refundable and exceptions are not made. All customers are told this when every reservation is placed so there are no misunderstandings. When the approaching deadline to reschedule was approaching, another option would have been to allow someone else to attend in their place. As we have already made a rare exception to our already generous rescheduling policy, we consider this matter closed.Customer response
