On June 14, 2024, we had our car towed to the dealership in which we purchased it a year ago. I purchased a 2 year old car from here. We had the engine light on and then the car registered a low fuel alert. I had just gotten the car an oil change within the week. I took it to this business because this is where we bought the car and wanted them to assess and diagnose the problem. We asked them if they knew why there was oil leaking and how they would fix it. I know that oil leak is not just minor but could lead to major problems. They said they could fix it. 5 days later we paid them and picked it up. The next day I was driving it and a new alert came on and I drove straight home. The car was leaking even more oil and we had to put 3 quarts right away. We took it immediately back, stopping every 15 miles to check the oil and put 3 more quarts in at a time. We did this 3 times. Again, I had to get a rental car and drop it off. 3 days later they have had to buy the same parts 3 times and still no resolution. They want us to pay for the labor for the second visit and said the problem is not what they had told us and what we paid to fix. After having my car a week they have mad ethe problem worse and can not give me any answers. I knew the answer. I call a professional VW dealership and spoke to the service manager. I explained exactly what symptoms and warnings the car had and he told me exactly what was wrong and why what they were doing was wrong. The owner refused to take responsibility for the work, but they did not have trouble taking money for work not done correctly and then said we had to pay for the labor done after having to bring it back a second time. The owner Yelled at me in the office and insulted my husband by saying that he was just standing there and letting me talk. The mechanic is his employee and works under his dealership license with the State of Ohio.

Mohammed the owner of ‘Cousins Auto Sales’ sold me a car with a MASS amount of problems with the vehicle, not limited to transmission issues and manufacturer recalls. The credit place he got the loan through has advised me he can back out of the contract at his discretion even after stating I would turn him into any place I needed to he is still refusing to reverse the transaction and give me my down payment back. I’ve only been able to drive this Jeep home…. That’s it. It’s been sitting in my driveway ever since.

Mrs. ****** and Mr. ****** both took the vehicle out on 2 separate test drives of over 15 minutes each. When they returned they both said they liked the vehicle and requested that we give them a week to come up with the down payment to purchase the vehicle. They put a $500 deposit on the vehicle and we held it for them for the week.  They came in and did the paper work (see attached documents) on the vehicle. Signed every document and left very happy with their new vehicle. A week goes by and they contacted us with concerns about a transmission control module issue that they stated would cost them $500 to have repaired. In good faith we provided them with the $500 so they could take care of the issue and we would not be liable for any further issues with the vehicle. They took the $500 and said they would take care of it and thanked us for helping them out. This was the last we heard from them concerning the vehicle. Another month goes by and the next contact we have with this deal is from a complaint filed with the better business bureau. The vehicle was sold as is and the customer signed the paper work stating that it was as-is. We are not legally bound to provide any further assistance with this issue as we had already tried to help them previously and now they are filing against us. All paperwork was reviewed and signed by the complainant. There were no hidden fees that the customer stated were added. We would like this matter closed.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

Mr. Mohammed was made aware that I would be contacting outside sources to get help in him making this right. I gave him multiple chances to do as such and he told me 2 weeks ago through his assistant to take whatever means I saw fit against him. For one, if he was so sure that he was not in the wrong in this situation he would have his timing correct in responding. We went to view a vehicle February 25, 2023. Mohammed stated that I needed paystubs that I could not get at the time due to the office I work for being closed on weekends. We returned the following Monday February 27, 2023 (when documents were signed) to pick up the car. As attached prior I sent Mohammed an email that is time stamped about an hour after getting the vehicle in question home, I also returned to the car lot the morning after signing and expressed that I had been in contact with the creditor and they stated he could undo the binding contract and give me the $2,800 I put down on said vehicle back. He did offer the $500 which we appreciate. We advised all parts purchased could be returned with the car. We attempted multiple times to get Mohammed to make this right due to the vehicle having Manufacturer recalls, which in the State of Ohio, it is illegal to sell a car with the recalls and not advising the customer that they are active. He also tacked on GAP Insurance which I was unaware of until I went through the paperwork he attached. I was never told or made aware that I would be paying almost $700 for a policy I did not want. It is the consumers discretion to purchase gap insurance not the car lots sneaky task to add it to the bill. At the end of the day I am a mother of 2 who is NOT legally married and I am recently in remission after fighting for 10 months against Stage 2 Hodgkins Lymphoma. I still have a regular 9-5 and many doctors appts I need to get to that I now cannot because this vehicle CANNOT be driven whatsoever. I drove it home and that was it. The creditor has been made aware of his bad business and are contemplating pulling their contract from his business since he sells unsafe cars to women with children. They are stating he still CAN undo the contract and provide me with my down payment back and he has refused. I contacted the BBB, The Ohio Attorney General, and am seeking legal counsel. He still has the chance to make this right before it all goes public and looks bad on his business. I just want my money back so I can get a car I can actually drive. Thanks.

      Sincerely,

      ***** ******

I dropped my car off for some work to be done on it. My car had been giving me issues since when I initially bought it. I bought my car from this business and also have gotten any work done on it from here as well. This was my second time having work done on my car from this business. When I dropped my car off my engine light was not on, it turned on almost a couple hours after I picked my car back up. My oil change sticker on my windshield was removed which I found very odd. I went back and looked at my paperwork from ********* who initially did the oil change and my car was at 114,304 miles on sept 9,2022. My cars mileage was above 118,500 when I got it back from the business which was also alarming because I dropped my car off with the mileage at about 116,000-116,500 miles if even that. There is no way possible I have driven 4,000+ miles between sept9 and November. My car doesn’t leave the city of Dayton and I don’t drive it that much AT ALL. I believe my mileage meter was altered or someone physically drove my vehicle while it was “receiving work” from this business.

I purchased a used vehicle from the owner. The agreed on price was $2900 plus taxes. As I did not have the full $2900 I requested financing or a buy here pay here option which they agreed to. After I left the lot I immediately had issues with the vehicle which they told me the only issue was the battery. After reading over all my paperwork I noticed several discrepancies. First they charged me $3500 for the sale price plus the taxes and finance charges. Secondly after being stopped several times by the police we found that the color of the vehicle also did not match the paperwork or the tag. I've had the vehicle a month now and have spent nearly $1000 in repairs everything from axles, ball joints, brakes, fixing the oil leak and the issue with the radiator and still need to fix the rear bumper that fell off when I hit a bump in the road. This is clearly not a quality vehicle as they advertise.

      Consumer More Information

Have you heard from the company?   Yes

Are you satisfied with the company's efforts to resolve this matter?       No

       If not, please explain.

Comments:  The company is refusing to provide me with my memorandum in order to put plates on my vehicle.   The tags on the car expired on october 1, 2022.   The company said if I withdraw my complaint they will then provide me with my memorandum.   Isn't denying the customer their memorandum illegal?   Since the police will do nothing about this the only option I see left is to withdraw my complaint.
