Absolutely disgusted with the way customer service handled my call. I was mocked when asking a simple yes or no question. Never experienced such unprofessional customer service in my life. ********************** are no better than any other brand. I will never purchase Matco tools again simply for the disgusting way I was treated when calling in about a concern with my accountMatco Tools Corporation Response

Matco Tools has reviewed recent recorded calls between Mr. ****** and Account Representatives. Matco Tools agrees that the way a call was handled on September 26, 2024, was not up to Matco Tools standards. The Credit Manager reviewed the call with the Account Representative, and it was used as a coaching opportunity. Matco Tools apologizes for the way the call was handled, however is happy to see that Mr. ****** has since spoken with a different Account Representative concerning his account. Should he have additional concerns regarding his account he can contact Matco Tools ****************** at ************.Review from Glen B

Matco customer service is incredibly rude and will not help or offer real explanations. Good luck getting through to the diagnostic support line as well. I was put on hold and agreed to a call back, the call never came. As a professional who gets paid on a production based system, i need a more reliable product support team.Matco Tools Corporation Response

Matco Tools appreciates Mr. Boltz’ patience while this matter was investigated. It appears that Mr. Boltz purchased a MDMAX4 scan tool and a one-year subscription. Scanners are similar to tablets and require yearly subscriptions to continue functioning. Mr. Boltz contacted the Customer Care department multiple times and was upset that he would have to renew the subscription of his scanner, as the year subscription he purchased was not longer active. He asked if he would be able to return the scanner because he did not want to purchase a new subscription. He was advised that Matco Tools would not allow a return on a scanner that Mr. Boltz used for a year. This information was relayed to Mr. Boltz by multiple people. He appears to understand that his scanner requires a new subscription, he just has chosen not to renew it. It does not appear that anyone was rude to Mr. Boltz or that the Customer Care team was unreliable. Matco Tools is unsure what else they can to do assist Mr. Boltz.Review from Aaron A

Been asking my dealer for replacement cutting disks for a tubing cutter for over a year, every time he said it's still on back order. Today I made him check its availability in front of me, oh look it's in stock! How long has it been in stock ******* *********? I know you haven't been checking for me every week, because you didn't know the part number! You should have been searching that number every time I asked! How long were you gonna keep ducking me? It's been **** months! No decent company would be back ordered for over a year! So either Matco is a completely incompetent company. Or your a bad representative! Which is it? Who's man enough to take esponsibility?Review from Blake M

Matco is ***************** I Was convinced to become a distributor by a local matco salesman. Complete mistake in every way. They sell tools to customers at a 60% markup to mechanics who cant afford them and then ruin their credit. They want you to do anything you can to sell to people even if they dont need it. Constant tax fraud, selling stuff off the books for cash and claiming it was a give away, running credit accounts without permission, running payments without permission and If you say anything hr wont talk to you and you lose your job. So if you like rebranded tools sold at a 60% markup hey matco may be just for you.Matco Tools Corporation Response

Mr. Millwood’s claim that he is a former distributor of Matco Tools is inaccurate. Mr. Millwood is a former employee of a franchise owner. Regardless of this, it is not Matco Tools’ business practice to bully individuals into purchasing a franchise. Mr. Millwood’s position of an employee of a franchise owner would not allow him access to Matco Tools’ bank accounts and tax practices. Additionally, Mr. Millwood’s claim that Matco Tools’ business model is to finance to individuals who cannot afford their loans is ridiculous. Other than the results of a credit application, a creditor does not have the responsibility or ability to determine if a loan is in the best interest of a customer. Additionally, it does not make sense for a creditor to seek out customers who cannot afford the loans they are entering into; that business model would not be successful as all of their loans would be defaulted on. Matco Tools is unsure what prompted Mr. Millwood’s allegations. However, they are ridiculous and inaccurate.Review from David V

Ive been paying my bill on time for 6 years, I moved jobs switched trucks and they cut my credit off.. because equifax said I had bad credit which is true. But not with matco. Matco just lost a dedicated customer. People wonder why techs stop paying their bill.. I 100 percent do not recommend Matco to anyone. Now I cant make money to pay them my weekly bill because I dont have the proper tools, and no one was willing to help me.Matco Tools Corporation Response

**************** initially applied for Matco Tools financing on March 25, 2021. On that day he was approved for $12,600.00. He applied for financing again on April 7, 2022, when he was approved for $14,200. He applied for credit a third time on August 22, 2024, and was rejected. Matco Tools loans are secured loans and not credit cards. The approval is good for 120 days. Should a customer wish to finance additional items after the 120-day approval expires, they need to reapply. **************** approval from April 7, 2022, was long expired when he attempted to finance additional items on August 22, 2024. Unfortunately, when he applied for additional credit, it was rejected because the information provided from the credit bureau did not meet the requirements for credit to be extended. **************** is welcome to apply again in 120 days, when the rejection expires.Review from William T

Will not replace my 12" x 3/8 breaker bar that I bought 35 years ago. Dealer says Matco has made too many improvements on that product to just flat out replace it. Will give me a $22 credit towards the same tool that now costs over $100. Their lifetime replacement guarantee is c***Matco Tools Corporation Response

Matco Tools offers a limited product warranty against materials and workmanship defects for any tool that is branded with the Matco label. The breaker bar was purchased 35 years ago, according to **************. After 35 years of use, it would be a safe assumption that the tool is free from defects in materials and workmanship and any damage to the breaker bar is from normal wear and tear. Matco Tools believes that a $22 tool credit towards a new breaker bar is fair offer.Review from Brandon S

Bought a box off the tool truck. 8500 taxes and all their fees. Been making double payments for almost a year as I assumed all the extra money would be going towards the principal of the loan yet it is not. They are just charging me interest for the next year. They calculate how much you owe with the interest on a 5 yr loan and it seems even if I double pay I will end up paying every dollar in interest anyway as they are applying it to future principal and interest payments. I asked the finance lady why the extra money was not going straight to the principle and she claims it goes towards interest as well which doesn't make sense because the interest is already paid from the actual payment??? Seems criminal to charge me the same amount of interest whether I pay it off in 2 years or 5 yearsMatco Tools Corporation Response

Records show that ****************** applied for Matco Tools credit on or about September 29, 2023. He entered into a contract on that same day for the purchase of a 4 series, 3 bay toolbox with power. According to the signed contract, the total cash price of the toolbox was $7,966.00. The sales tax of the purchase was $557.62, there was an administrative fee of $50.00 totaling the principal balance of $8,573.62. ******************** interest rate is *****% for a total of $4,679.78. This is listed on ******************** contract under time price differential. The total amount financed by ******************, as shown in his signed contract is $13,244.40. The contract also outlines Mr. ******** payments terms. According to contract, ****************** is to pay $50.95 a week for 260 weeks. The first payment was due on September 29, 2023. ****************** is correct in saying that his account is paid ahead. As of today, his account is paid ahead $1,914.12. Should ****************** pay off his account early, all unmatured interest will be removed from the balance and he will save on interest. For example, as of today his total balance with all interest as of today is $8,987.04. However, his total payoff amount is $5,819.31. This payoff amount is good until September 6, 2024. ****************** can contact an account representative at ************ should he have any additional questions or concerns.Review from Dewight L

I turned in my impact (part no. MT3765M) over a year ago to my local distributor ( ***********************). I have yet to get it back as it was under warranty. I keep getting the same run around that Matco has switched multiple repair facilities/companies. There is no update as to when I will get it back. Ive had to buy another impact costing me more money and I went ahead and bought a impact from a different tool distributor just in case my new Matco one breaks and I have to wait indefinitely on it to get replaced.Review from Rob L

Local tool truck guy stopped coming around and to quit dealing with Matco for what ever reason he had, the Matco app for me now is messed up and I cant make a payment They sent me some letter saying I wasnt allowed to pay ahead of schedule and that they wanted 124 a week I received no phone calls from corporate or finance department Were quick to ding my credit report for 30 days late after I met back payments and went current because they changed the way I have to pay my bill. Thorn in my side for all the business Ive given them- Matco is quickly turning into snapons rere little cousin and they not even supporting or zipcode right now, A simple phone call or notification could of avoided yall fking up my credit because of a lack of YOUR support structure and obviously retention is an issue across ***** So from me , ************************* I vow to not buy or deal with you as much as humanly possible from here on out for lack of customer service and fkn up my payments Ive made through the years, My Matco financing disappeared off the App with no explanation Yall initiated with no recourse of correctionMatco Tools Corporation Response

************** applied for Matco Tools credit, through a local distributor, on January 20, 2022. He signed a contract on that same day for the purchase of a used Mac toolbox. The total financed amount, including interest, tax and administrative fees was $7,648.27. ************** was to pay $29.53 per week starting on January 20, 2022. As a courtesy, payments can be collected by local distributors while the end user is working at a shop the distributor is servicing. However, it is the end users responsibility to ensure that payments are being received by Matco Tools ********* Services. ************** made payments directly to his local distributor until December 13, 2023.
Matco Tools strives to accommodate all our customers by having a distributor service every shop. Unfortunately, this is not always possible as distributors are franchisees, who are independent contractors and not employees of Matco Tools. Pursuant to the *** Master Agreement signed by Matco Tools customers, ********************** does not guarantee that there will be a distributor to collect payments from the sale or assist with warranty issues because of the possibility that a franchise distributor separates from Matco Tools.
Mr. Snappss account was brought in house for handling on or about March 11, 2024, upon the distributor closing his franchise. Calls were made to ************** starting on March 12, 2024, advising him that the distributor closed his franchise and that all payments should be made to the corporate office. ************** did not answer his phone or return the call efforts. A letter was also sent advising him how to make future payments. Monthly statements were sent to ************** starting in March 2024. Quarterly statements were sent to ************** from April 2022 until December 2023.
**************** account was paid ahead due to a $700.00 payment he made in December 2023. Therefore, his account was current until May 2024. Collection calls started on June 28, 2024, when **************** account was past due for more than a monthly payment. ************** did not respond to the collect efforts; therefore, his account was reported as 30 days past due for June 2024. ************** contacted Matco Tools on July 1, 2024, and made a one-time payment of $160.00 to bring his account current. He also set up automated monthly payments of $127.86 to start on July 19, 2024.
Matco Tools does not see any wrongdoing. They attempted to contact ************** by phone, letter, and statement however he did not respond until after his account was reported as 30 days past due. However, since ************* has brought his account current and set up automated monthly payments,Matco Tools has updated his June 2024 credit reporting to current as a one-time courtesy. He should see this updated reporting shortly.
************** can contact the ********* Services Department at ************ should he have any further questions or concerns.
