Invoice ******  We called Jastal because we had used them before to do other work. I have a kitchen sink drain that was permanently blocked. That’s the ONLY drain in the entire house that has an issue. Jastal came out and diagnosed a problem with the pipe. They came out, ripped out drywall and replaced 40 foot of pipe. It’s been about 5 weeks since that work was completed. Well today the EXACT same issue is back. It hasn’t been fixed permanently. We were charged $****+ to get a fix for 2 months. What is Jastal going to do to fix this?? Do we have to spend another $****.00?? Seems the work we had paid for wasn’t the problem. So now what??

This is the first we have heard about the issue returning. We would like to schedule a return visit to asses why the issue has come back. In addition to this response we will reach out to the customer today via phone call and email.

I am rejecting this response because: just coming out to look at the issue again does not fix anything. I agree it’s a good first step, however I do not want to close this complaint yet until I see what Jastal is going to do since I was charged $1700.00 in unnecessary plumbing and drywall removal.

Jastal plumber came out this morning and identified a place where the previous work was not completed by the other plumber.

This morning, Jastal repaired the pipe in question and tested the pipe for 25 minutes with continuous water flow. It appears the plumber today fixed the problem at its root cause.  I am happy to close this complaint now. Thank you

I contacted Jastal Plumbing on May 3 because my hot water tank wasn’t working. We confirmed it was under warranty, and I told the receptionist that the code on the hot water tank indicated the gas control valve/thermostat wasn’t functioning. We set an appointment for the technician to come and replace the part. She called back a little while later to tell me that there would be a $49 service call charge. I said that was fine. The technician arrived and told me that before any work would be done, he would have to do a diagnostic. I told him the unit already diagnosed the problem. He said nothing could be done until I authorized this test. The fee was an additional $168. I reluctantly agreed, since I had no hot water. I figured I would be out $217 and wasn’t thrilled but it would be taken care of Friday when he returned to install the new part. Several minutes later, he advised that when he came back on Friday, it would be an additional $200. I could almost get a new hot water tank for what the company was charging. He suggested I call the manufacturer to see if they would reimburse me their labor charges. I called the manufacturer and they diagnosed the problem immediately at no charge and sent me the valve as well as a pilot kit at no charge. She couldn’t believe how much the plumber charged for a diagnosis, since the unit self-diagnosed. I called the plumber back and canceled the Friday appointment. The next day, I called again and advised that I was going to contact the Better Business Bureau regarding how this was handled. I was fine with the service charge and agreed to the next charge but they kept adding on. I feel they saw an ignorant older woman and took advantage of the situation. Ideally, I would be reimbursed the $217 since they did absolutely nothing! I would be surprised if they gave me any money back, as per customer reviews, this has happened before. I just think their business tactic is unethical and that it should be reported as such.

The customers water heater is under a limited warranty with the manufacture. The water heater is not under warranty with Jastal Plumbing. The amount paid was for our technicians time to run the manufactures diagnostics  and submit the warranty claim to them. This allows the customer to receive the warrantied parts for free. Our diagnostic price was presented to the customer before any work was done. They approved the cost, work was completed and the customer paid the bill. See attached invoice. No refund will be issued from Jastal Plumbing. We did advise the customer if she was upset her warranty didn't cover a plumbers labor to contact the manufacture for a possible reimbursement.

I am writing you in hopes that you are able to help us with ongoing issues we have been having with a plumber that we hired that never completed the job and the issues we are having are from incorrect plumbing/failure to install necessary components. Jastal Plumbing started work for us on or around 11/20/2020. This was plumbing work for a new house build. Attached are text/email correspondence between JP, myself and my husband, **** ********. Also attached are estimates & bills. Additional explanation of ongoing issues is also attached.

      [BBB: Consumer filed second complaint.  Adding complaint details to original complaint.}

      Consumer’s Complaint:
Please refer to case# ******** We made an agreement with Jastal Plumbing, in return, ***** Jastal asked us to drop our previous BBB complaint, ***** Jastal has failed to fulfil his end of our agreement. I would now like for the previous complaint to be reopened and updates made.

      Consumer’s Desired Resolution:
For Jastal Plumbing to follow through with the agreement of paying us the agreed upon amount for our electric overages.

      Business response

      01/10/2023

When the ********’s called us to finish their project we did show up and we finished what they had ready. The following items were not finished.
Balance the hot water recirculating system (no power was ran to the pump)
Install the master shower trim (tile was not completed)
      Conduct final inspection

When they did have the above items ready we were too busy to get back to their project to finish. Intern no invoice was sent for any of the finish work completed as a show of good faith.

The ********’s finished the project on their own and we hadn’t heard from them for a year, Until the complaint about the electric bill. Based on us not finishing and the customer stating it was our fault the electric bill was high we did come to an agreement.

Since the original complaint we have completed the project and passed the final inspection with Portage county. We compared the electric usage before and after we have finished and it is still similar. For that reason I  did request renegotiation of the agreement. The ********’s still requested we pay for the electric bill even when I offered to waive our final bill to come to a compromise.

We do not believe the electric cost of a water heater or recirculating pump running when installed in compliance with the Ohio plumbing code is our responsibility. Attached you will find our final bill to the ********’s as well as the demand letter sent requesting payment.

I have a basement drain cleanout that is draining but slowly. The distance between the cleanout in question and the parked truck is ~60ft of level ground through an open garage door with no stairs or obstacles. The pipe is 2" in diameter. Only this one branch is slow indicating that the clean out is only needed in the last 50 feet of that branch. there are no consumed materials needed for this job and ~15-20 min of machine and operator time. ****** would not offer any quote information over the phone and requires a $45 service fee to arrive prior to quote. I was then quoted over $400 for this work when an comparable machine can be purchased outright for that cost. Its my perspective that this exorbitant quote is an attempt to collect on service fees without performing work while leveraging the service fee to pressure customers to accept in fear of lost monies. For transparency, during this interaction, after stating that this quote was predatory for the work to be performed, ****** did claim they would reduce it to $350 which is still far and above reasonable costs. I would have chosen other options if ****** would have been willing to give rough quotes for their line item charges given the service technician was simply adding generic line items up on their device. This practice is opaque and predatory. No Work Was Performed Desired Resolution: cancellation of predatory charges

Worst company and customer service, They came to clear a backed up line. 3 months later its backs up again. Came out again charging full price both times snaked it again. fast forward 6 months backed up again. I asked about putting a camera down both times the tech said not to do it that he is confident he got the clog, now the third time I call they again want to charge me full price again. Shady people I would give them a 0 if I could. Also on top of all that the first two times they left the place dirtier than when they started. Services: Sewer repair, Drain cleaning

On March 1st 2021 we responded to a clogged drain call at Mr. *********** residence. The blockage was cleared but nothing was retrieved on the snake to identify what the cause was. On May 17th 2021 we responded to a clogged drain call once again. Mr. ********* was made aware he would have to pay to have the clog removed as we do not warranty snaking past 30 days. Mr. ********* agreed to the work and we proceeded to remove the blockage. This time our technician did retrieve the blockage on the snake and identified it as feminine products. The week of April 11th 2022 almost a year latter Mr. ********* called in requesting service for a clogged drain once again. This time he requested the work to be completed for free. He was told that we would charge as we do not warranty drain cleaning past 30 days. I would like to resolve this matter but we cannot work for free.
