On the above date, my husband, ******, was transported from **** ******* to *************** via Mobile life status post acute myocardial infarction. This transport was not accurately accomplished. I followed the unit in my vehicle. *************** driver got lost. He left the main road and took many small, winding, bumpy side roads, changing direction frequently. One road was so narrow the unit was the width of the road. After an extended amount of time it finally made it to ******** and Route 34- a direct route to *****, going west. Upon reaching the stop two blocks away, the driver turned South away from the hospital and proceeded to go south through *****, until he reached the city limits. He then turned west onto residential side streets, and in a meandering drive, finally reached the hospital. I parked and met the driver as he was exiting the unit and asked him (politely) "You kinda got lost did you" He answered harshly "I couldn't see my GPS with all those headlights coming at me" I usually fly here" Nothing more was said.
Here are the keynote problems with this run:
1. Drivers should be fully, familiar with the location of all hospitals in the immediate area where they are stationed. If not, they should review the location before they start the run.
2. Mobile Life should take the shortest, smoothest roads to get there. Acute cardiac patients can be severly compromised if ****** unecessarily.
3. They must arrive in timely order
All of the above points wee not followed in this transport. No cars were encountered at this time of night. The roads were deserted. So no headlights could have been the problem.
The mileage on this run was **** miles, as far as *************** from *******. The mileage should have been **** miles. I have enclosed a GPS map for you perusal, as the driver said this was what he used. ********, I submit the request to adjust this bill to reflect the difference in cost of milege.
