I am reporting the dismissive and rude behavior of the office manager of McCarthy Builders. I was given her name by BBB, but to respect her privacy, I will exclude her name from this review. I called the office manager on a few occasions regarding my existing 5-year home that was built by McCarthy Builders. She offered no assistance when I asked who I could contact regarding paint colors on my home, electrical work, cabinetry, etc. I realize the home is no longer under warranty and I realize the people I bought the home from are the original customers who contracted with **********************. I just wanted "contact people" so I could get the correct replacement paint colors, electrical lights, etc. I don't think this individual is the person Mr. ********************** wants representing his company. I even suggested that a professional "for sale sign" be placed on the open lot on my street rather than the cardboard sign that is buried in weeds. She became very defensive as if I was complaining about McCarthy Builders. I was just suggesting a better sign to help sell the lot. When I asked for the phone number of the sales department, she refused to give it to me. I also asked for her name and she refused. I have since obtained her name and the names of two sales representatives representing Riverbend and the Village of Riverbend and will reach out to them regarding a better sign for the lot. **************** should be the pinnacle of a company, and the behavior of this office manager is certainly lacking. Since the office manager will probably reply to this review, I will also be contacting ***** ********************** directly regarding this unprofessional behavior.Review from Traci G

We are very happy with our McCarthy home. We were able to pick a floor plan that worked for us and had the flexibility to choose our finishes and add some optional features. We love the lot we chose next to the pond, and having our lawn taken care of is very convenient.Review from Kate K

If I could give negative stars I would! If you want a home built to code but nothing more, build with McCarthy! If you want a loud fountain equipment installed on your lot with Vegas lighting, build with McCarthy! If you want your patio soaked with water from a 18 ft fountain, build with McCarthy! If you want poor electrical work and false positives for your smoke detectors, build with McCarthy! If you want a HOA (****** capital) that intrudes on your privacy by walking around on your private property and causes property damage, build with McCarthy!! If you want the absolute worst customer service and quality, Build with **********************!

All McCarthy Builders homes meet or exceed the building code. All of the smoke detectors we install are hard-wired and have batteries in them as well. For residents’ protection, the smoke detectors alert residents when the batteries need replacing. All the residents who live on ponds in McCarthy subdivisions love the fountains. They love the hours of operation, the lights, and the height of the fountain. In response to this customer’s particular concerns, we have reduced the hours of operation, changed the spray pattern and moved the aeration compressor further away from their home. The ponds are managed by the Homeowners’ Association. HOA personnel periodically need to monitor and maintain common lots, including the ponds. This is an Association issue for which the Association’s governance process will need to give all HOA members a voice. Other residents have not favored the changes made for that pond.
