B&H towing was called on the night of Saturday 03/25/23. Unbeknownst to us, the insurance company sent out a tow truck. Ford’s Towing picked up our Jeep that was not drivable. As the first tow company that showed up was leaving with the vehicle, I received a call from B&H claiming we owed them money because a tow truck was sent out. A driver from B&H met us at NTB in Zanesville where the Jeep was towed. We brought the driver $40 for the inconvenience. However, the driver opened his drivers side door and dinged my car with his door. I called B&H on Monday 03/27/23 to inform the owner that my car was damaged by one of their drivers and one of their vehicles. The gentleman on the phone told me to come to B&H Towing and he would give me the $40 back. When I arrived, I was harassed, belittled and threatened by the owner and two other employees outside of the establishment. I tried to file an insurance claim with my insurance company for the dent in my door. My insurance company upon researching this incident discover that B&H does not have insurance. They were verbally abusive to the claims adjuster over the phone. I’m dropping the insurance claim because obviously it would be a fruitless effort. If B&H doesn’t have insurance, and if they aren’t willing to even return my $40 after damaging my vehicle they will surely not pay any money towards my car repairs. If I pay out of pocket for my damages there’s no guarantee I’ll get my money back. This company should not be towing anyone or dealing with the public if the owner cannot rationally and reasonably discuss the fact that my car was damaged by his tow truck driver opening the truck door and hitting my car. Any reasonable business owner would want to not have a cause for dispute, especially when it causes damage to another vehicle. B&H is not professional, not friendly and actually I felt very intimidated and afraid for my safety when I arrived at the place of business per the owner’s invitation to discuss the matter.

      Customer response

      05/22/2023

[If you do not say why you are rejecting the company's response, BBB must close your complaint.]

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

At this point, it’s not about the money. It’s about the facts. The facts are we did not get tired of waiting and call another tow truck company. A tow truck showed up, and we assumed it was from the insurance company. When the second tow truck arrived, we were confused. However, we did pay for the driver to come out. Did we not? Yes, yes, we did. Another fact, is that I called the company to discuss the fee. The owner specifically told me to come to his establishment to discuss the matter. I did not blindly arrive at the business to dispute the money paid. I was told to come by to discuss the matter and show the owner the damage to my vehicle. Also , it’s a fact that three large gentleman followed me outside to my car. I was called a “silly woman.” I was told that there was no damage to my vehicle. The fact is that there is damage to my vehicle. Granted, the damage is small. But, it is a fact that the driver of the tow truck opened his truck door and dinged my car. If we’re going to dispute a BBB claim against a business, let’s tell the truth. Also, it is a fact that I filed an insurance claim. The insurance adjuster told me that there was zero response from the business after the initial phone in which she was cursed at and insulted. I know that the day I arrived at the business (after a phone call) I felt very I intimidated by three big guys telling me that I was a silly woman, that there was nothing to my dispute, and it was a ridiculous claim. Also, it is a fact that I said that I would not recommend this business to anyone in the future. I did not say, “I’m going to cause a lot of trouble.” The tow truck driver that did tow the vehicle even said to us that H&M towing was not a reputable company. As a matter of fact, he said to us that we should be thankful that we only had to pay $40. As I said at the beginning of this response, at this point it’s not about the $40.00. It is about the facts that my vehicle was damaged. It’s about the fact that I was invited to come to the business to discuss the issue. And it’s about the fact that my vehicle was and is still damaged by the door of the tow truck from the driver opening the door and dinging my car. This business clearly has a lose grasp on the truth and disputing facts.

      Regards,
