Fundy is an album design software. They have changed from being a standalone software to a mostly subscription based model. When I installed the software on a new machine, it was disabled by the manufacturer and I was instructed that I must pay for an upgrade. When I tried to go back to the previous machine where the software was running perfectly fine, it was disabled there as well with no option to get it to function again.Business response

We announced our v6 software would no longer be supported after the last update to v6 in 2016. While it has continued to work on some machines until this year, this was not due to us maintaining this software and we will not be making updates to a legacy product we no longer sell. We value current users and offer discounts when upgrading from a previous version.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because: *********** is able to manually allow activation (by use of simple machine ID license that requires no use of servers on their end) of the software without support and without changing any code but chooses not to. We had a functioning version which they intentionally deactivated during the trial of a different version on a different machine. Machine A had been running V6 since 2019 with no issues. Machine B was added to our studio where we downloaded a trial of the new Fundy software. During the installation process on Machine B, the software signed us out of the other instance on Machine A and then we were told that there was nothing to do other than pay for an upgrade.

Our v6 software uses TLS 1.0 in it's codebase and we use Amazon Web Servers. Amazon no longer supports TLS and Windows is also not going to support this at some point in the near future. To resolve this issue, we would have to completely rewrite the code for a legacy software we have not supported or sold since 2016. This includes if we were to turn off server checks.

I am rejecting this response because: *********** claims that code and servers are the issue. If that was the case, then there was no reason for them to deactivate functioning software (for no reason) on a functioning studio machine.In the meantime I found a developer who is able to reactivate the software with no issues. Somehow, an indy developer is able to do what the company that wrote the software cannot.

As previously explained, to unlock the software would require code changes. The v6 software has not been updated or supported since 2016. Since it is no longer supported, we will not make changes to the code, as the *** ending support for TLS 1.0 would require a total revamp of an extremely outdated product.
Additionally, per our End User Licensing Agreement, here are the Restrictions on Use:

adapt, or create derivative works based on, Fundy Designer; (2) reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or
otherwise attempt to discover the source code of Fundy Designer (except and only to the extent that you may be
so permitted under applicable law to achieve interoperability with the Fundy Designer); (3) sublicense, rent,
assign, lease, sell, or otherwise transfer all or any portion of Fundy Designer (except as provided by applicable
