Was charged for an item I did not purchase. Company is charging people for items left in thirr cart.Business response

My name is ********************* and I am the Retail Operations Manager for the Grange ** Op. I understand that you have an issue regarding a refund of an item left in a cart at one of our locations and would like to resolve the issue. If I may ask, what location did you visit and if I could get a phone number to discuss the incident further that would be appreciated. I have a partial phone number of ***********_ as the last number was missing.Business response

******'s concern is something we have heard from a number of shoppers who have added items to their cart but have not completed checking out. The procedures employed by banks and credit card companies to verify funds appears to have changed recently. They create a pending transaction as soon as items are added to the cart to verify available funds, and these verifications appear to some customers the same as a completed charge.
However, we have no record of a transaction by this customer from our payment processor, Braintree. There is no transaction to refund.
In all cases with which we've been advised, the pending charge has disappeared from the customer's statement within a number of hours. The recommendation we've communicated to ****** is to check her statement again after 24 hours, and if it has not disappeared, to please contact her bank for further information.
