My doctor of over 30 years recently signed up or sold out to Geisinger. I had 2 visits the beginning of the year, they took my insurance card, made copies and never told my insurance was out of network. I was seen twice, a visit of 15 minutes and was later billed an office visit charge plus " a ****************** of a health care condition above an office visit " charge. I was not in the office longer than the time mentioned and no exam existed in that time, it was mostly verbal visit. Can not understand the nerve and never received an explanation of the charges after numerous calls. Geisinger is a rip-off, and the worst part is they are taking over numerous medical facilities in the ******** area.Review from Michelle D

********************************** / Geisinger Medical Insurance won't pay bill because family provider didn't submit the referral for service. Instead the referal was submitted by another geisinger physican for service and the ***** won't pay the clam because it didn't come form my family provider. This is outrageous as long as I have been going to geisinger this has been an issue more than once and it needs to be addressed and corrected. Because they are stealing money from the people that should have these procedures covered by their insurance companies and they are trying not to pay these claim so a person has to pay for them out of pocket. This is outrageous!Review from Sandra F

On December 9, 2023, I took my 92 year old mom to the Geisinger ER, with a complaint of numbness and tingling radiating down her left arm, which, unbeknownst to me, had been going on for about a week. In triage, an EKG was done, and she was then told to head to the waiting room, and she would be “ called shortly “. Three and a half hours later, I approached the check in person to inquire if he had any idea of how much longer it would be, as we were now waiting 3 and one half hours. His response to me “ oh, that’s nothing!” Absolutely appalling! I was told that patients are not seen on a first come, first serve basis, that it was up to the discretion of the staff as to who gets seen and when. A young came in with a chin laceration way after my mom and I arrived, yet he was brought back in a short period of time, treated and released. How is this possibly a priority over my mom?! She is 92, with multiple serious medical issues. After 5 and a half hours, my mom physically could not endure waiting any longer and left to seek treatment elsewhere. This system is seriously flawed. We had been warned by several people how horrendous the Geisinger ER was, and I now know first hand how right they were.Review from Sandra F

On December 9, 2023, at 10:40 am, I took my 92 year old mom to the Geisinger ER, with a complaint of numbness and tingling in her left arm, radiating down her hand, which, unbeknownst to me, had been goin on for about a week. After being triaged, they did an ekg, then directed her back to the waiting area, and told her she would be called shortly. After three and one half hours, I approached the check in person, and inquired if he had any idea as to how much longer it would be, as we had already been waiting three and one half hours…… his response to me…..” that’s nothing “. Absolutely appalling! I was told patients are not seen on a first come, first serve basis, instead the staff picks and chooses when a patient will be seen. Subsequently, a young man came in way after we did with a chin laceration. Within a short period of time, he was escorted back, treated and released. How can this possibly be a priority over my mom, who has diabetes, and other serious medical conditions?. After 5 and one half hours, my mom was just too physically exhausted to endure any more waiting, so we left, and had no choice but to seek treatment elsewhere. We had been warned by several people how horrendous the wait is at Geisinger, and now I know first hand what they were talking about. This system is in dire need of a MAJOR change to the way their patients are treated. Sandy F******* ( on behalf of my mom)Review from Gina G

Our daughter has seen these doctors long term. She was said to be incapacitated needing parents to start guardianship. The psychologist that assessed her, and saw supporting school psycho educational testing failed to tell US. And his office was told to make an appointment to start guardianship but failed to do so. Resulting in online predators coercing her to leave with them after she turned 18. She was assessed at being high risk for this by the psychology dept. These people lured her with their son highly sexual online. And are manipulating our daughter to lie to various entities in a bid to isolate her from family and friends protection. The doctors are now refusing to assist, file guardianship papers that would get her home safely, even after seeing a HIPAA clause that they CAN do so in this situation. Family and friends feel this is reckless and negligent.Review from Michele C

This is about the Woodbine Dermatoloy in Danville - no listing available in your dropdown I went for an appt. Checked myself in on a computer - a nurse took me back and spent about 5 minutes with me. The Dr. came in - then called another dr. to approve his finding -there was not help for the problem. then I get a bill for which I owe 291 -200 of it being a facility fee - for paying the nurse and the cleaning people who have to clean the room - Unbelievable that they are allowed to do that - imagine your dentist doing that. This should be looked into by the better businsess bureau - people can't afford to be paying that cost. Will NEVER go there again and would not recommened anyone else to go there.Review from Michelle Y

Geisinger double charges for my insurance and expects people to pay two co-pays for the same appointment. This is happening with telemedicine visits. I called to complain, and the billing person told me they can do it, "because it's a facilities charge". My son can't even get his appointment IN THE FACILITY! He has asked and they will only do his appointments by telemedicine. If I have one appointment, I should pay one co-pay. I have e-mailed patient liason, billing and one other group regarding this. No answer. It's a shame, that they are monopolized in the area, however, people do have a choice in their healthcare. I will be seeking a new doctor for my son.Review from Lisa B

This isn't about Danville, but Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre isn't listed. Gotta love Geisinger in this area. I checked in for lab at 8:15am in South WB knowing appointments come first and walk ins are taken in between. Only 3 people there awesome. The secretary who checked me in was very nice. About 9:40 as about 15 people come and go I asked the secretary who just came in for her shift who was also nice (the one who checked me in was on her lunch break) how long the wait was. She said unfortunately they don't have a list and it's up to the laboratory in the back. She was busy with patients and I didn't want to be rude. My plan was to ask the nurse as they came for another patient. 9:55 the secretary who checked me in was back from lunch and wondered why the heck I was still here. She called me over and called the lab...get this, the lab FORGOT ABOUT ME. How the fheck do you forget about a patient when THEY ARE ON A LIST?!?!?! A list they look at! There are NO excuses for forgetting about people. That is literally the most disgusting thing I have ever encountered. Luckily the front desk ladies were extremely helpful and apologetic on behalf of the horrible lab experience. Thanks Geisinger South Wilkes Barre.Review from Kaitlyn H

complications with medical bills almost making me pay 1k out of pocket, scheduling errors causing me to miss work and lose money, errors with my bloodwork causing me to do it over and over again and I have reoccurring anemia which I feel adds to it. They messed up my thyroid test which is one of the last things I feel they should definitely be testing for and had made no effort to reschedule. I was getting IV iron treatments and one of the nurses inserted my IV needle then told me I already received the correct amount of doses and there was no reason to insert my IV. I am tired and covered in bruises from all their errors. I was told I would recieve an override for one of my anxiety medications from one of the geisinger pharmacy questions people using the number on my insurance card. I then drove 30 minutes to the pharmacy to pick it up and they told me there was no override in place. I now have no medication because I cannot afford it without insurance which my doctors know, and offer no help. If I could give 0 stars I would.Review from Anna B.

I took my boyfriend there with vomiting and dizzyness and bad stomach pain. We left after 3 hours in the waiting room where they took someone within 15 minutes of his arrival and he came about 2 hours after us. My boyfriend fell out of the wheelchair and all they did was come out and put him back in it and left. The service was horrible. He didn't want to stay to be seen there. I have NEVER been to a hospital where literally NO ONE cared! The pregnant girl at the front desk said, there is no time limit to be seen. Unbelievable. One nurse was yelling at him " How did you fall out of the chair?" He yelled back, "I don't know" I pray he does not have any discomfort from that fall or they will definitely be hearing from us again. THE WORST emergency room service I have ever witnessed. I think my mistake was reading the reviews AFTER I went. Lesson learned
