I purchased three bags of Sweet and Sassy Chips from candyfavorites.com and the chips were stale and the expiration date was covered with the company’s sticker and could not be removed. I emailed the company and the president Jon H. Prince told me that they were fresh and I didn’t know what I was talking about. I gave this company a bad review online and Mr. Prince sent me threatening emails stating that he would sue me if I didn’t take the reviews down. I will attach pictures and the emails. I would like a full refund in the amount of $34.27.Customer response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********* and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I have purchased Sweet and Sassy potato chips for year and they have never tasted stale like these do. I was never offered a full refund, instead I was offered a credit to the store. I will never purchase anything else from this company and do not want a credit. I would like my full refund for the items purchased.

I ordered their eda's sugar free tropical but when I saw my doctor yesterday I was told to not eat the sugar free candy because it was what was causing my recent health issues. I called the company, emailed them and filed a paypal claim the end the transaction- all yesterday and instead of canceling it they mailed it today. I do not want their product.Business response

Foremost, this complaint is addressed to the WRONG company as Mckeesport Candy Co., did not sell this to this person, it came from a website owned by a wholly seperate entity for which we do independent fulfillment!
I did reach our and found the details of the transaction and the product that she received was exactly the product that she requested. It specifically states in all of CandyFavorites.com communications, including on their online invoice and shipping manifest, that all order cancellations must occur within 24 hours after the order has been placed. To my cursory knowledge, her request came outside of that time period.
It was conveyed to me that in no way shape or form, was this customer sent a product that was against her doctors recommendations as that is totally outside of our purview nor was anything mentioned in order notes or communicationsz
We will certainly encourage CandyFavorites.com to see if the request for cancellation came within the prescribe time frame. if it did, they will issue the consumer full credit. If it did not, they will have to stand by the company’s return policy as stated and accepted when the order was placed online.
Lastly, as the owner of McKeesport Candy Co., I emphatically request that this complaint be removed as it is libelous toward a company that was NOT involved in the transaction.
We might encourage your irate consumer to be factually correct when submitting a complaint in a public forum.

I ordered Candy from what I thought was a good company but the candy was stale! I contacted McKeesport Candy Company two times with no response from the company.Business response

Regarding the claim mentioned above, it is both erroneous, inaccurate, and, honestly, a total misuse of the Better Business Bureau.
As you will see from the attached documentation, we addressed Mr. ***'s concern promptly, but the issue at hand is that we did not give him the answer that he wanted to hear. Therefore, this is inaccurate as to how this is a "delivery issue" or that he "contacted the company twice with no response".
We explained to him that the product purchased is inspected before shipment to ensure freshness, BUT it may have a different consistency based on variables such as temperature and humidity.
Due to its ingredients, it may be harder when exposed to colder temperatures - much as we have had in Western PA. for several months - or softer in higher humidity or warmer temperatures.This change in consistency does not indicate a defective or stale product, and we sent Mr.*** a link to a page on our website that specifically addresses this issue.
The issue at hand is that the customer has an unrealistic expectation as to how a product should taste, which is out of our control, and when presented with this information, he utilized your services not for consumer protection as it is intended but rather as a "bully pulpit."
Lastly, the product was purchased from CandyFavorites.com and not McKeesport Candy Co., the latter being a wholly separately owned corporate entity not associated with this complaint or transaction.
As such, we greatly appreciate your understanding and hope this explanation puts this unfortunate misuse of resources to rest.
