I had Americo construction put in a driveway and a sidewalk at my house in July 2021. On 7-19-21 I called John about concerns with holes in the concrete he told me they would wear away after I begin to use the driveway. Those holes continued to get bigger and the driveway staerted peeling. I started noticing cracks also. I left him several messages and did not get a call back. Finally on October 7 I called and spoke to him. He came out and looked at the crack and said in 2 to 3 weeks he would dig it out and put in a joint and he would put sealer on the cracks on the driveway. He never came to complete it. I continue to call and leave him messages without getting a return phone call and then finally on February 3, 2022 he called and stated his team had ***** and they had closed down for a while he will put me on the schedule for March to fix the driveway. And assured me I had nothing to worry about that he would take care of it. When he didn’t show in March I called him on April 11 he stated that he would be out April 15 to the 30th. To fix the driveway. Then on May 9, 2020 to two guys came and put sealer on the crack and told me to contact John about the peeling in the driveway which I had already done . Jon never answered my calls. On May 21, 2022 I received a letter stating that that the holes and peeling were from salt over the winter even though I started the complaint in October before we had any winter weather. I called the number on the letter I spoke with someone named Tony he said someone would be in touch to see if there’s some type of resolution and I’ve never heard from them I just would like the driveway and sidewalk that I paid a lot of money for to be fixed properly or to receive a refund so I can have someone else do the work. The driveway has been peeling all over even parts that are not used.

The issues to Mrs. ****** is having are called spalling and scaling. This is very common when salt is used on the surface whether the customer physically puts it on themselves or it's brought in from the road.

Whatever the case spalling or scaling will damage concrete and no one can guarantee against it. We specifically give a warranty that says that the concrete is not guaranteed against salt usage. Many times the customer will deny they put salt on the surface but they don’t realize they bring it in from the car tires. There is no other reason Concrete performs and looks this way unless it was salt damage

As a courtesy we will seal the concrete with a clear sealer it does not fix the spalling but it helps so it doesn’t continue.

For Mrs. ****** we sent workmen to her home and we sealed the concrete. She was not satisfied with this and indicated she wants her Concrete replaced. That is not an option as we do not guarantee against spalling as previously noted. Our written warranty is attached and is the same warranty that Mrs. ****** provided in her complaint. It specifically indicates to NOT use salt on the surface as it is not guaranteed and it will damage the surface.

If Mrs. ****** would like additional sealer placed on the concrete we will be glad to provide it for her as a courtesy.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

as I stated the problem started before there was any cold weather I contacted Americo in October and they failed to come out they wanted to wait until the spring to look at The problems with the driveway.  Concrete deteriorated immediately starting from holes that were reported to the company in October There was no way salt was the issue.  I would accept them putting sealer on once they’ve patched or repaired the problem areas.
      Regards,

The pictures that were sent by Mrs. ****** clearly show that the driveway has Spaling due to salt damage it is very obvious that salt marked the driveway. No one in the industry guarantees against this type of damage because it’s impossible to stop it. The driveway is still very usable and will last for over 50 years.

All contractors apply a sealer but if excessive salt is placed on the driveway it will still spall.

We were very courteous and responded in an appropriate way and sealed the driveway at no cost even though we do not guarantee and had no responsibility to do this we did it as a courtesy

If she wishes us to sell it again we would be happy to do it for her but we are not responsible for it.

I would like to re-open my complaint against Americo construction that I filed August 7, 2022.  They stated that they would come and seal my driveway at no cost and I have never heard from them nor did they show up.

Our original response still stands that we are not responsible for spalling of the concrete, as a courtesy we would be willing to seal it again at No Charge, this is all that we can do.

      Thank you

Too many errors to fit in this spot. I have a detailed document of errors in detail and w/ pictures I want to share. I ordered a driveway, sidewalks, and two retaining walls to be built. First wall is bowed, not level, no backfill, no dirt, no drain, oozing glue from capstone application, used broken stones to build wall(promised to fix), and ant infestation from their food garbage thrown into void they left. Yard was left a mess. Piles of extra cement hidden in my bushes on both sides of my house (One side they never had a reason to even be there!) Received apologies and promise of clean up...Never did Cement splashes on walls, dead grass, Rocks and debris left all over yard. Sandmix in piles left in yard. Dead grass. from leaving tools sit and messy cement droppings. Driveway, misapplied sealant, footprints in cement, uneven swirling- water pools, various border tripping hazard. blobs, lumps of cement on driveway. Sidewalk pads are random lengths, Two separate pours so my driveway is different colors. Promised expansion joints, but in entire driveway only one tiny expansion joint was used. And more Little wall is a complete disaster. After second attempt even went over a diagram with them, but instead did whatever. Chose not to take out old errors and tried to work around them. Capstones are varied sizes puzzle pieced together to make a top layer. Seams are lined up with seams. Broken stones were used as capstones. Capstones are flush with layer underneath-not staggered. Think stones are a different color on the second attempt part I complained when they finished. But insisted I had to pay- had an excuse for everything. Did promise to return and repair. Workers were abusive. After calling the cops to make sure things did not escalate, they ran away; have not returned to finish. They refuse to communicate with me or the Attorney General's office. I paid money in good faith to have a quality job. Not only is the job poor quality,it is unfinished.
