Internet purchase of used winter tire. Tire had a bubble in the sidewall area, which was not disclosed up front. Contacted vendor for equivalent replacement since they have similar in stock items. Vendor declined to accept the opportunity to make things right. No offer of similar tire and no offer of refund was given. The vendor states on their website that they screen tires, but this tire evaded their screening process.Business response

The customer purchased a tire from our **** store on July 26, 2024. Our stated return policy period is attached where items that are damaged or not as described need to have return requests open within 30 days. **** also has a 60 day return period. The customer contacted us initially on October 20, 2024, which is well past the 30 and 60 day return periods. We asked for a receipt to show when the tire was installed since he was so far outside of the return period. The customer never sent the requested receipt and instead opened this claim with the BBB. In his message to us, he wanted a "customer goodwill" gesture without providing any proof that the damage was present when he received the tire. Therefore, that is why we have not moved forward in giving him any type of refund, and **** backs us on this decision.Customer response

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. The reason for the time delay is because winter season had not yet arrived. The tires were not installed on the vehicle until October, when the issue was found, during preparations for winter. A set of summer tires/wheels were still in use until my October attempt to switch over.
The entirety of the argument needs to be expanded to include what was shipped (rather than strictly the time delay). The objection is to what was shipped being defective goods.
A return for convenience or change of mind is entirely different issue than defective goods. This is about defective goods and the denial of a replacement.

I purchased a tire from Champ Tires through Ebay for $111.30. On getting the tire, I had it put on my car at a tire shop. On checking the next day, the tire pressure had dropped to 10. I took it back to the tire shop and they found a huge leak in the tire wall (I have photos and videos to support this). I had to buy another tire on the spot at a premium price, as tire wall damage is not reparable. In all, the total ordeal cost me $87, minus the price of the new tire. I requested reimbursement for my expenses and I got 0 response. They have 0 quality control and their customer service is non-existent. I would like to be reimbursed for my expenses for their bad tire in the amount of $87.Business response

Dear Better Business Bureau,
We fully refunded the customer for their order. Sometimes sidewall holes only present themselves when the weight of the car is added to the tire, which is why our air testing equipment could have missed it. The damage could have also happened on the drive home from getting it installed, but we didn't press the customer on that and took their word.
We also replied to every message that the customer sent us on eBay, as seen in the attached conversation. It is eBay's policy and Champtires' policy that neither eBay or Champtires are responsible for installation or labor expenses. When we told the customer this, the customer did not like the answer.
Thanks

Date of transaction: Saturday, 6-1-2024. Amt charged to credit card $32.10. Service- remove nail from driver side rear tire and plug tire to stop air leak of 2016 Honda Odyssey handicap van.. Nature of dispute- upon arrival service person inspected tire in parking lot. He stated tire can be repaired and to drive into service bay. I asked the price of service before driving into service bay. He quoted $13.52, I proceeded into service area. When service completed I went to front desk pay bill. I was in a hurry and just handed my credit card to agent and did not review receipt when handed back to me. Later that day I reviewed receipt charges, the store had close for weekend. I returned Monday morning to discuss charges. The service agent stated bill $32.10 is for ( dismounting, repair, balance and remount tire). I stated if that was the service I should have been informed when he first inspected tires in parking lot. I ask for an itemize invoice. He printed a receipt that just states driver rear leak check. I left the location and disputed service on champtires.com .A gentleman named Tony called me. We discussed the issue. I ask for a discount credit charge back to my card. He stated if the tire is not leaking the charges stand as is. I asked to speak to a regional manager. Tony stated as the service manager he makes final decision and there is no one higher than him to speak with. I thank him for speaking to me and then preceeded to BBB website for assistance.Business response

Dear Better Business Bureau,
As we have explained to the customer multiple times, we explained what the cost of a repair is ($30). The service was performed at the rate we charge normally. He wasn't overcharged and was told the total again in person when he paid at the store.

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]I reject this resolution presented. Reason- Miscommunication of charge
It's understandable to expect that the total cost of all services should be disclosed upfront, allowing me to make an informed decision before service is performed. This was not the case. When I arrived the service person inspected tire in parking lot and stated the tire can be repaired and to drive into service bay. While still in the parking lot, I specifically asked the price of service before driving into service bay. If the service scope and associated costs and the final charge differs from the quoted price, I have the right to inquire and seek clarification.

Bought a tire on eBay. Tire was sold with a nail already in the tire. I was promised a refund of $25. I never got a refund. eBay refused to issue me a refund. Scumbag company.Business response
05/09/2023
Hello,
The customer bought a tire through our bay store with the username *********************" Following the purchase, he reported that the tire had a nail in it. We apologized and offered to send him a prepaid return label to refute it for a fee refund or would pay up to $25 for a repair if he had it repaired and then sent us the receipt. As you can see from our exchanges, he didn't want to return the tired wanted more money before actually getting the tire repaired, therefore not sending us a receipt to cover the repair. This is agains eBay and Champtires return policies and practices to deal with damaged items. Everything needs to be done with a receipt before a reimbursement is issued.
Then, outside of the message attached, "******************** opened a return request on eBay, but then never returned the tire. We cannot issue a refund for an item that isn't returned. eBay is 100% backing us on this interaction. If "******************** would like to return the tire, he should follow the return request instructions given to him through eBay. If he would still like to keep the tire and have it repaired, then he should do that and send us a photo of the receipt so we can reimburse him properly.

I took my ford echo sport to champtires at 1130 Lebanon Church Road, West Mifflin pa on Thursday March 23rd to have 2 front tires changed. I had no problems with my front passenger side tire besides the tread was low. Well the man took my tire off the rim and came out and said that my rim is cracked and my tire wont hold any air now and I had to get a tow home ?? I dont understand because my tire wasn't flat before he took it off the rim so how could this even be possible they are denying cracking my rim and said it's not possible for that to happen I'm so upsetBusiness response

When our tire technicians removed her tire in order to replace it, they discovered a crack in her wheel that had been there. They immediately stopped the work on her car to inform her. We have explained several times in person and over the phone that there is no way removing a tire can cause a crack in the wheel. We are not responsible for damage already present on a wheel when it arrives at our location.Initial Complaint

There retern policy is really something odd, but there aloud to do that it's a bissness. I tried to gather information about a product I did not get a reply. I then used my official email to order I did not get a reply from the business at all with in there "60 minute" policy. I sent three emails trying to gather information about the product "used tires". I wanted to make sure the measurements were taken right and wanted more photos if you were wondering. It's so I know the tires can be ballenced. On my third email I wrote are we "canceling the order" there was then a promt response to cancel the order, which they said they did. I then received a pay pal notice not having used PayPal I found this to be odd and paypal is saying it's official. So I can't get product info, I can't track payments as they are made, the policy is very odd. Really weird experience. So if it goes worse I'll file a second addendum with better biz. I purchased a tire from ChampTires. I had the tire installed professionally and two weeks later my low tire pressure light came on. I explained to them that I found a pin hole leak in the sidewall and that the tire cannot be repaired legally. I was told a leak would show itself before two weeks. I’ve had leaks in the past that took two weeks to notice. ChampTire offered me a coupon instead of replacing or reimbursing me for the tire.Business response
03/03/2023
Hello,
The customer told us he had his tire installed on Feb. 16, 2023. Then he said that his low pressure light came on nearly two weeks later - and after driving on it for that period. Slow leaks typically present themselves within a few days at the latest. We explained this to him over email. We offered him a 15% off coupon for a replacement tire. He declined and asked to speak with someone. He was then given the option for a 50% off coupon. He told our representative that if he wasn't refunded or sent a replacement, he would file chargebacks and leave negative reviews on social media.
So, at 12:02 pm. today March 3, 2023, we sent him the attached email saying we would send him a replacement tire despite the fact that it goes against the terms and conditions that he agreed to when he placed an order on our website (specifically that we are not responsible for damage done to tires after they are driven on). We also acknowledged his threats to leave negative reviews and file a chargeback if he didn't get his way. Then, 15 minutes later, he left a 1-star Google review and has filed this complaint.
We are sending him a replacement tire despite the fact that he drove on the tire for two weeks and then it was damaged. We also fundamentally disagree with his threat and then use of negative reviews and filing complaints and chargebacks as a level of extortion. Our legal department is also aware of this situation.
The FedEx tracking number for the replacement tire that is being shipped to him is ************

I viewed a advertisement on youtube regarding this company, in the add, they stated they had tires for and I quote **ALL** vehicles. A quick search for tires for my hummer h1, revealed they DID NOT have tires for my vehicle. If you are going to advertise and say you have tires for **ALL** vehicles, then have tires for **ALL** vehicles. they didn't even list my vehicle on their website, I chose the closest match being a civ version H1 hummer, NO where did it even list the military hmmwv. They are intentionally misleading and lying to people with their adds.Business response

Hello,
Thanks for your interest in our tires. The tires that fit on Hummer H1s are very uncommon, but we do have them in stock from time to time. Our inventory is updated daily, so feel free to check back at a later date.
Have a great day,

I purchased 4 used tires from Champtires - before purchasing I asked for and was promised that all 4 were in good condition and had had no repairs. Unfortunately of 5 tires spanning two rounds of trying to resolve the issue one had a bad repair and one sent to replace it had a slow leak that they had marked but not repaired (and if they had I would not have accepted it anyway, having been promised tires with no repairs). At the time of the initial problem I had to buy a new/similar tire at full price plus pay for that to be mounted. Before doing this I called their customer service and was promised a full refund for all 4 tires due to the fact that the new tire plus the 3 used ones was about the same total cost. I was surprised when I only received a partial refund but ended up wanting to swap out the new tire for a matching used tire at the tire manufacturers recommendation so I ordered another from them. Unfortunately it had the slow leak mentioned above. In any case the short version is that the entire fiasco has cost me over $324 even after partial refunds. This is all detailed in the email stream with them which I will upload.Business response

We did make a mistake in the customer's initial order, one tire was faulty. We refunded him for the full amount for the one bad tire and gave him a 10% discount code to purchase another tire. We never promised him a full refund for four tires because of one faulty tire. He has been relentless in issuing threats for weeks, which have included demands for us paying him an hourly rate for his time and mileage to his tire shop.
As for the replacement tire that he bought at a discount from us to make up for sending a faulty one in his original order, he said it needed a repair. We asked at least four-five times for proof of the damage and a receipt for the repair so we could reimburse him. He never sent it those despite the multiple requests.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********* and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.1) Their employee Andy, promised me a full refund on all 4 tires when the first bad tire was discovered so they are not correct in saying that was never promised.
2) I will now have had to make a total of 4 or maybe 5 trips (I have lost count) and to have paid for multiple $30 or so charges to mount and balance due to 2X bad tires sent to me. I asked for reimbursement at IRS mileage rate and most states minimum wage for the HOURS AND HOURS of time I have had to spend on this and not even including the last two trips!
3) They refused to send me a return label for the second bad tire and to replace it with one with no repair. I was promised 4 tires with NO REPAIRS - so latest expense as was in the email stream I uploaded was approximately $81 plus future $30 for mounting and balancing (and another trip and mileage/gas/hour or two MORE of my time).
I have said I understand an honest mistake and I even can abide two suhc mistakes but they have not AND SHOULD do what they say they will and I should not lose over $300 of time and actual money due to their incompetence!

Here are our responses the the customer's complaints below:
1. *** ****** was never told that because he received one incorrect tire that he would receive a full refund for all four tires, not just the one incorrect one. We have apologized for his confusion over this many times, but we know who *** ****** spoke to and know for 100 percent certainty that we was not promised four free tires for returning one incorrect tire. *** ****** has even changed the name of who he spoken to over the course of his complaints.
2. The incorrect tire was never installed - it was returned to us with a prepaid FedEx label for a refund - the refund was for $72.46 (the cost of one tire that he paid for) on October 3, 2022 with PayPal transaction ** ****************** Additionally, as stated in our checkout agreement that *** ****** agreed to when he placed orders on our website, we are not responsible for installation and/or service charges. We continued to apologize to *** ****** over his confusion over how the initial one tire refund would work – that he was refunded for the one incorrect tire that we sent him. He became increasingly angry, demanding we owed him reimbursement for the tire installation, his mileage to and from the tire shops and an hourly wage for his time in dealing with this situation. We denied paying him for his mileage and hourly wage but offered to reimburse him for the installation of one tire as another gesture of good will. We offered to do this even though it is not our policy to do so, and is included in our return policy and checkout agreement that customers must agree to before placing an order on our website. Mr. ******** partial refund for installation of one tire was issued on October 24, 2022 with PayPal transaction ** ***************** for $29.45.
3. When *** ****** was told that he needed to return the incorrect tire for a refund (with a prepaid FedEx label as mentioned above, we also told *** ****** that if he still needed a correct fourth tire that he would have to repurchase it through our website. We gave him a one-time use coupon code for him to use to get that tire if he needed it – we offered this as a token of apology for sending the incorrect tire initially. The coupon code was to save 10 percent.
*** ****** placed the order for one Pirelli_Scorpion Verde A/S Plus II_245_60_18_105_H with 8/32 tread remaining on October 5, 2022. The invoice ID ** *** ******** He paid $65.21, ultimately saving $7.25 from his original payment because he used the coupon code that we offered him. Then, *** ******* sent us many emails claiming that 1) he wanted to return that tire because it needed to be repaired, and 2) he wanted to be reimbursed for the repair that he had made to the tire. We kept asking for a receipt for proof of making the repair, for photos of the damage and for the DOT code on the tire. We have asked for these many, many times and have never received them.
*** ****** has additionally filed disputed transactions through his financial institutions, and we are managing further responses through that avenue.

Contacted company on 9/21/22 regarding cancelling my shipments of individual tires when Fedex DID NOT have possession of the packages as I confirmed with Fedex prior to contacting the company. Company refused to cancel the deliveries and still continued to push for the delivery of the cancelled items. I was then forced to contact Fedex directly to cancel each individual order as the company refused to do so and was condescending to myself during their email reply basically telling me nothing could be done, which in fact was a lie as Fedex the shipping company said that the company could call Fedex to cancel the shipments as requested by myself as that was the restriction they had on the shipments - that they “Champ Tires” had to call Fedex and cancel them themselves, not the customer.Business response

Hello,
The customer placed an order on our website at approximately 9:20am on Sept. 20, 2022. As part of our checkout process, customers must agree to our terms and return policy, which we are uploading a screenshot of here. Please note that we give customers a 60 minute cancellation period - or one hour.
The tires that the customer purchased were shipped via FedEx and left our facilities on Sept. 21. We received an email from the customer (entire exchange is also being added to this message) at approximately 7:30pm on Sept. 21 asking to return or cancel his order. That was nearly 34 hours after his order was placed. This morning, after consulting with FedEx and the tracking numbers, we informed him that we could not cancel his order as two tires were on the FedEx truck and about to be delivered and the other two were en route. We also explained that once the tires were returned, we would refund him, minus return shipping and restocking fees, which are outlined in the previously mentioned checkout agreement.
This resolution outraged the customer and he began threatening us with leaving reviews with the BBB and other places. He has clearly done so with the BBB and Google already. We have forwarded all correspondence, including this, to our legal department.
We are committed to quickly and efficiently processing and shipping orders. We have no idea what FedEx told the customer, and his exact story with what he has been told has varied over his complaints and our communications.
We are also attaching a screenshot of the FedEx tracking information that we sent to him today, Sept. 22, showing that two tires were out for delivery and two were in transit.
For reference, these are his FedEx tracking numbers, which he was emailed once his order was processed on our end: https://www.fedex.com/fedextrack/summary?**********************************************************
If we receive his four tires back, we will refund him minus the return shipping costs and restocking fee. His other public claims of us having shady business practices are categorically denied and again in the hands of our legal department.
Sincerely,
***** ***
