I rent at the Alden. In May my rent was late due to my father’s passing and having to find a way to LA for his memorial service. I paid that rent and the court costs they ensue if you are 1 day late, and was told the paying portal would be open to me after that was processed so I could pay my June rent. I also inquired if I could pay off the rest of my lease and was told that that is not done…? I offered to pay the 2 months rent that was allowed and the lady said the portal would be open for that. It was NOT. I tried for days until today I was greeted by a court hearing letter. And guess who can finally get into the portal?? So I immediately paid but I do not want to have to take time out of work to go to court and pay fines when I was doing everything I could to avoid that???

Good afternoon, we value our resident experience while maintaining our business standards and policies.  We want to help clear up any roadblocks you may have encountered this month and we are sorry for your loss.  Please reach out to the leasing office and so we can walk you through our timeline per the lease agreement and state laws around landlord tenant complaints.  In your lease you are given a 5 day grace period and on the 6th day you are considered late, and 10 days after we are able to start the Landlord tenant filing process.

Again, we would like to discuss this process with you in detail and look forward to hearing from you.

      Thank you,

      The Alden South Hills

The Alden had held $100 of mine, and then failed to provide a unit in time so they apparently wrote me a check and are now claiming the check has been cashed but I never received the check. It is a scam.

Property management company over charged me for items on my account such as gas sewage and trash. Some of the items that charged me with isn't on my lease. When property managent recieved a judgement to collect possession of the unit I paid them in full and owed them a little over 1000.00 on my account. I recieved a ledger today and it stated that I owed them over 2400.00 dollars on my account. Property manager insured me that he would fix it and told me that they had system glitches which only messed the colored folks in the complex account up which led them to be the only ones who owed more money in the building. This isn't a case on just fraudelent charges on the account. Also a case in discrimination being that the manager racially discriminated against me when he orded possesion on my account by over charging me for some boxes that he claimed to be excessive trash. I would like to take legal action due to me being a outstanding tenant and never gave them any reason to evict me. I believe that this act was not only racially motivated but incompetent among management staff due to lack of rectifying mistakes they were aware of happening.

I moved into an apartment here December 15, 2021. I had vacated the apartment by July 1, 2022. I gave 23 days notice and notified the business I was leaving due to a number of concerns. The grounds were constantly covered in dog feces and garbage. I reported this several times and the only thing they did was send an email asking people to pick up after their pets. Maintenance never came to clean anything up which resulted in a foul smell and gnats everywhere. I witnessed the theft of packages from the foyer of my building as well as drug deals with one particular dealer carrying a weapon in plain sight. I also went without heat in my bedroom for an extended period of time due to a faulty heater in our room not being replaced for several months. I also had to evacuate my building multiple times a month due to fire alarms which were triggered by mass amounts of smoke (a nearby building actually had a unit catch fire). I also submitted a work order regarding cracked caulking in my shower which was allowing moisture to get between the wall and the lining of the shower thus creating mold which I am highly allergic to. I had asthma attacks only when I was home and had to use my inhaler after my asthma was in remission for a decade. This was only addressed when I cited it as one of my reasons for leaving and they did not even address the problem area. They caulked around the top of the tub and left. I did include pictures in my work order. This business is trying to charge me over $1,700 for "up and leaving". I have since jumped through hoops to try and get some (if any) of these fees taken off (like filing a police report for the drug activity) to no avail. I cannot afford any of these fees as I still have bills to pay and feel I shouldn't have to pay any of these fees because this business failed to provide safe and sanitary living conditions. Not to mention the health code violations associated with garbage and dog feces residing in an area.
