Hinckley ***** Services, a manufacturer and craftsman of luxury sail and powerboats, is a poor imitation of the once famous brand.Founded in ****, and sold by ********************************* in ****, then resold in ****, ****, and 2001.The current version of Hinckley is a terrible boat company called 'The Talaria Company LLC DBA Hinckley ***** Services'. The head company "does not focus on any particular sector but current portfolio companies suggest an interest in business services, natural/organic foods, specialty retail, health care services, gaming, logistics, mortgage technology, marketing services, financial services and metals." The lack of mention of boats directly translates to a lack of research, modern advances and quality.Hinckley ***** Services threatens your life with an increased risk of fire, explosion, electrocution, injury, loss of life, loss of boat.Best way to destroy a Hinckley Bermuda 40 is to have Hinckley ***** Service fix it. The craftsman are gone. Left are some people worried about mortgage technology. Hinckley ***** Service may be the worst chain of boatyards in the USA.My Hinckley Bermuda 40 is not safe to tie up to a dock. The photos do not lie. Check out my protest website. hinckleyboat.com

      Business response

      10/05/2022

We have received the correspondence regarding the complaint against The Hinckley Company "Hinckley" involving "repair issues" (complaint #********).  Hinckley takes all customer complaints seriously, as indicated in your letter, there are "two sides of every story."

This disagreement arises out of work that was performed on customer's boat at Hinckley's facility in ******, ** during the winter of 2020/2021.  The customer made a partial payment for the work and then ceased communication after accruing a substantial balance.  In the Fall of 2021, Hinckley received correspondence from customer's former attorney inquiring about the status of the account.  At that time, he raised no concerns with any of the work that Hinckley performed and indicated that the customer intended to make payment in full upon receipt of additional copies of invoices that had already been provided to the customer.  When Hinckley followed up and demanded payment for the work that was performed, the customer terminated his attorney and, for the first time in nearly a year after the work was done, the customer began making various demands and unsubstantiated accusations against Hinckley and its workmanship, which Hinckley disputes.

Since terminating his attorney, the customer has engaged in a campaign to try to disparage Hinckley through various industry and consumer outlets, and use of Hinckley's name and logos in violation of copyright and trademark laws.  The customer's BBB complaint is the latest forum to make false and defamatory statements about Hinckley, including false representations about safety issues and Hinckley's business concerns.  Given the customer's actions, including his bizarre communications with Hinckley representatives and his refusal to engage in productive dialogue with Hinckley, it is apparent to us that his accusations are simply an attempt to avoid paying for the work that he requested Hinckley to perform.

Please feel free to contact us with any further communications.

Some consumers may elect to not publish the details of their complaints, some complaints may not meet BBB's standards for publication, or BBB may display a portion of complaints when a high volume is received for a particular business.
