We attempted to reach ******************** by telephone but were unsuccessful and unable to leave a message as his phone was not receiving messages.

After reviewing his account and speaking with store employees and management, we found that Cash Express and its staff acted appropriately as authorized by our contract and the laws governing our license.  If ******************** feels we have acted outside of the contract or law, he should contact us at ************** and ask for someone in Compliance to discuss his concerns and provide them with additional details supporting his position.

Thank you for the opportunity to address ******************** concerns.

I completed my bankruptcy application on 2/17/23, so I decided to call Cash Express to let them know that I was filing and I was told by an employee at one of the ************ ** locations that my check would not go to the bank because I was filing bankruptcy and that it would be illegal to send my check. She stated that she would call the bankruptcy line to verify that I did file bankruptcy. Because of what I was told, I told her that I would not be in to pay my check. She stated that if I did come in to pay it that I would have to sign a form stating that I was choosing to pay my check even though I was filing bankruptcy. So I thought I was good to go.I checked my banking account this morning and the check did go to the bank making me negative the amount of my check. I called the Madisonville location that I called Friday and left a voicemail. I got a call back from another employee who told me that I should have called the ************ ** location since that is where my check was and that the employee should not have told me what she told me. I assumed that if an employee put in notes on one database, that every Cash Express could see it. That is not the case. I called the ************ location and was told that she would call her uppers to see what needed to be done. I called her back and she told me to call ************. ********* told me that because the bankruptcy was not completely filed until 2/18/23, they were able to deposit my check because when I called on the 17th there was no case number.I am not happy about this whole situation because I was given the wrong information from the ************ ** employee. I would like for the call to be played back so you all can hear what she told me because apparently what she told me was wrong. I have no reason to lie about what that employee said to me over the phone.

Thank you for the opportunity to address **************************** concerns.  Although we were legally within our right to deposit her check prior to her bankruptcy case being filed, we decided to refund the money to her as a courtesy.

We apologize for any inconvenience our actions may have caused, and we appreciate **************************** business.
