In 2022, we needed our roof replaced due to several leaks in different rooms. The guys who came out to do the estimate were very professional and explained our options and why our roof did not last more than 12 years. Supplies were delivered promptly and the installation crew was prompt and on time. Sadly, when the old roof was removed, excessive damage that the previous contractor should have repaired was uncovered. The project manager came out and did an estimate for the additional repairs and helped us get the higher amount financed. They stayed late to complete all the extra work and did a great job. We have recommended them to several family members since our experience was so good.Daniel Hood Roofing Systems Response

On the initial estimate they valued the blue protective plastic at ***** It was removed and another installed when the insurance inspector came to inspect the roof. So, that’s two (2) blue tarps. We paid our ********* deductible and the insurance paid the balance. Later, I received a threatening letter from a collection agency saying we were in arrears for ********** ****** **. for the two blue plastic tarps. I contacted the company and was assured it would be taken care of. I subsequently received another collection letter demanding payment of ******. Again I got the runaround. I contacted our insurance company and they surprisingly agreed to pay it. Bottom line, the blue tarps, originally valued at ***0 wound up costing ****** each. Seems the right hand didn’t know what the left was doing. I will not use them again.Review from Virginia C

I saw all these reviews and I had to respond. I've never gone on a public website to criticize a company, but these stories sound so familiar. Daniel Hood Roofing replaced my roof in February 2022. I too was told to go through my insurance, which I did. While replacing my roof some of my siding was removed and some of the gutters. They told me I could get my insurance company to pay for it. So far Daniel has been given over ****** I finally received another check from my insurance company fo* ***** after 2 1/2 years of working with a fiduciary. I have been told for the last 3 months they would finish the job but still to this day I have Tyvek wrapped around my chimney and on the side. There are several holes in my siding as well that still haven't been patched. I have partial gutters up, the rest have been lying in my flower bed for the last 2 1/2 years. If I had it to do all over again, I would have gone with Barnett Roofing.....Review from Douglas E

Unethical company. Do not use. We signed a contract for them to replace our roof and were told that if they could not get a full replacement from the insurance they would not do the work. The insurance company paid for half of the roof and so we did not have the work done. Since then, they have hounded us with phone calls and collection companies to get money for work the never did. They are an immoral and disgusting excuse for a company. Low character people and predatory in practice. A sad reflection on the Knoxville business community.Review from Kelly H

DON'T USE! we initially did the front work with the insurance co. mason explains that according to state law they had to match shingles. we agreed for them to contact insurance because he was confident they would get the whole roof approved as he said was what the contract was for. he mentioned the trees around the house could fall. a tree fell on our home few weeks later. i contacted the company. they finally called back wanting me to file new claim. i checked if i did this we would lose our insurance coverage. we thought it would be a good idea to take 2 massive trees and small tree leaning on roof down. we thought we would take trees down and get roof with no worries of a tree falling on it. we figured we would finance. i called numerous times with no answer or any return calls. never got updated on insurance or anything. we were left in the dark. it wasn't until i got letter saying insurance closed case and told me that they thought that the job was completed. called insurance adjuster and told him no. nothing was done yet. its been 6 months now.i told the secretary that because of issues with insurance not doing whole roof we would finance. mentioned there'd be no issues getting financed. she scheduled for mason to come on Mon. never showed up. no answer until next day. i got an email payment for $3500 is required now. if not paid a lien will be placed on house. i got so stressed over this it triggered multiple seizures that night thinking i was going to lose my home. we are out of getting roof fixed, money that we "owe" for no work done and didn't hire anyone but still "breach of contract" according to them and possibly my home. they didn't perform any work at this time but we're being charged $3500. they gave free quotes. we signed contingency contract thinking this would be a professional to fix our roof quickly. however we have gained more interior water damage. i have text and call of where i called/text w no response. this is a predatory companyDaniel Hood Roofing Systems Response

There is truth and their is a blatant lie. This is a lie.
This case is simple: Mrs. Hancock chose to take money alloted to us for the roof in the amount of $10,000 and refused to compensate us for the work we completed after six months.Customer Response

I contacted the insurance myself. they never allotted you any check. the only time that anyone has come to my house is when Mason came up climbed on the roof took his little video and then the next time was when he came 4 months later to discuss estimations again. there has been absolutely NO work on this house there has been No crew or materials that have been delivered to this house. I do not compensate anyone for work that has not been completed. there has been no work completed at this property. my attorney will discuss any other issues that you may have. I am not a liar and I don't appreciate being called so you are either not knowledgeable of what is going on in your business or you're incompetent or you sir are a liarReview from Daniel S

This company has poor communications, shady sales people, and bad business practices.
The trouble started when I met with a sales person who was giving me a pitch. I had already bought a bunch of materials from Lowes, so I said "save the sales pitch just give me the numbers." The sales person told me "This isn't a sales pitch". It is not good business practice to start by lying to your customers face.
The trouble continued when they said, a month after we signed, I would have to have the materials delivered so their contractors could make sure they are up to code and tell me anything else they need. When delivered they then gave me a list of items needed, but then said they could price them or it would delay it for another few weeks. None of the items were on the list I provided so they knew those items were needed before delivery. They didn't need them delivered, and forced me into a position of pay for their materials or have the shingles sit out for 2 weeks. So I had no choice but to agree to 2000 worth of items, which seems high and that they have still not justified with an itemized priced list.
After they finished the project they were supposed to send me pictures showing how the roof and gutters looked. I never got the pictures. They finished the job on the 3rd. on the 31st I received a call saying they didn't receive payment. I was waiting for a list that had the actual cost of materials and pictures of the roof and gutters, I ended up just heading to the site to look, so I hadn't paid them yet. I paid 2/3 of it that day and the remainder on the following day. The end of day after I paid them in full they sent an email threatening to put a lien on the house. I emailed every contact I had for them saying, what are you talking about we paid this. No response. I then received a certified letter threatening a lien for a debt that was paid prior to singing on as a Claimant. Which looks like signing a legal document you know is false for personal gain.Review from Lashel B

If you want a company that communicates; don't use! Someone that finishes the job; don't use! Daniel was contacted about my roof; once he saw the issues; he felt he could also file a claim on my siding as well for wind damage so I agreed. He said it could take 4-6 months; I quickly got a response from my insurance company w/ a small amount; I ask Daniel is this all? he says "no this is good start"; very little communication during the whole process but when he does he makes it seem like everything is moving right along. We had a bump along the way which we addressed. In June & July I have more damage; he does come and retarp; we discuss via phone that I may have to file a new claim, which I did. I complained that I may have to pay a new deductible; he said; I will take care of the deductible. Fast forward to 2 1/2 weeks ago; I get payment demands and threats to put a lien on my property. He does not communicate that he is no longer taking care of my roof (and did not fix the original issue). I was completely blind-sided; my fault on one invoice I should have paid & did. I have delayed in paying the 2nd retarping to see if his word means anything on the deductible but no response (so I am paying & his word means nothing) w added late fees (which is **** as he did not send but one invoice & I thought we were waiting on my 2nd claim), the 3rd invoice; he will not provide information on or provide any report related to this or answer the questions if this is something my insurance company requested from my first claim (which is now closed) & in talking with my insurance company; he should be contacting them for this payment; not me. I have also talked to my local agent today; and he said this not the first time he has heard this about this company. Stay Away! Look at Karen's complaint on 02/01/21, very similar issues.Review from Javonta M
