Reached out to Elite Garage Door Repairs, LLC on 5/20/2024, after my great grandson accidentally broke my garage door. The technician, ******, came out on 5/22/2024 and quoted me a price of "under $500" to repair my garage door. After "repairs" were completed, I was coerced into signing a contract that I do not understand and was charged more than twice what I was originally quoted prior to the "repairs". The invoice claims that several other services were completed due to safety risks, which were never discussed with me prior to completion, and could not have been done as claimed due to the amount of stuff I had stored in my garage that was never moved by the technician. It appears that all this gentleman did was install a strip of metal at the bottom of the garage door, which is done poorly, as there are obvious gaps between the metal strip and the door that it is attached to. I tried to reach out to the company but many of the phone numbers listed online have been disconnected. After finally getting through to a women, she was very rude and nasty when discussing my concerns with her and basically told me that I signed a contract so tough luck and hung up on me.Business response

I replaced my garage door opener within the past two years with this company. I placed a call to report the key pad not working and asked for directions regarding batteries to be replaced. I was informed that there would be a $39.00 service fee. I also had a coupon advertised by the company for discounts for **** and Seniors. The repairman showed me that the batteries were not placed correctly in the keypad and hit the reset button to activate the code. I was charged ***** dollars for labor and a 3% ser charge because I used a credit card. The repair visit was less than 5 minutes. It was not disclosed the cost of labor over the phone when I made the appointment. I attempted to contact customer ********************** was hung up on when I asked for the **** discount and or senior discount to be the charges.Business response

Attached is the pdf of the invoice. Highlighted is the technicians notes. He reprogrammed her keypad. The $39 is a service charge for the technician to come out. The scheduler cannot give a quote of the labor as service may change once the tech gets there and assess the situation. The tech charged the labor on reprogramming at a discounted price. Senior/**** applies to parts only; no parts were used. The customer's keypad and ********************** door working perfectly as our tech did his job. The customer was charged accordingly.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because: He did not reprogram my key paid instead he turned the batteries to the correct position which took 2 minutes and charged me a labor cost and did offer a senior discount

Hello,
If you look at page 4 of the invoice line #2 it clearly states that an $89 service call fee for all warranty calls past the 30 days from the original install. This keypad was installed 10/13/2022 which is also attached to this response. The customer agreed to the ********************** provided and cost as they paid and signed the invoice.
Customer response

I am rejecting this response because: The batteries in the keypad were not inserted correctly and there was no mention of a 89 service fee. I was quoted a cost of 39 dollar service fee. The coupon was not accepted nor senior citizen discount offered. I will never use this company for any repairs and as a senior I feel I was taken advantage of. I have used the service in the past was in the past was pleased with the service completed. When I called the company for this past service call and the expenses I was abruptly disconnected.Initial Complaint

Our Garage door was broken due to Spring snapped. Called a company from ****** and the Garage Door Service tech was sent out to my house. He was rude, arrogant, and ****** cocky making me feel like a simpleton.Feb 27, 2024, price paid $600 plus tax. for a total of $649. (Invoice # ****). The service tech told me that the problem was the springs and I needed to replace all 4 springs on my door. The tech informed me that there were two (2) levels of springs that could be installed to fix the problem. Level 1 spring was not right for my door due to the weight of the door and that it would fail because it was not a heavy duty spring. Level 2 was a more heaver duty spring that should be just fine for my door application. Can not remember the exact costs but Level 1 was half the price of level 2 spring. So I chose Level 2 spring and when the tech gave me the cost it was very high in my opinion. I told him to get the door operation enough so I could get the cars out the garage. Then the tech informed me that he talked to his manager and got the price reduced, and that is how the $649 amount came about. The garage door BROKE 5/30/24 5/31/24, we contacted another garage company to come fix the garage door due to the poor customer ********************** and products of the original company. They fixed the problem, cost me $303. I called the original company to complain about their products and customer **********************. I let them know that their replacement products failed and I had another company come fix the problem. They offered to come take a look at the garage, and come out to the house, 5/31. Service tech insulted my intelligence and blamed all the problems on the recent weather but I told him it was starting to fail about a week ago. He said the door was heavy because of the recent storms and that all he could do was tighten springs. My 3rd bay G Door, still works with the original springs when I purchased house. He also walked through my house unescorted, with our kids in the house.Business response

I received garage door services that state there is a lifetime warranty on parts. I called because one of my garage door springs went out and they are telling me they are no longer in **********. I understand things happen, but a lifetime warranty was offered so I asked if we get it replaced and send them a copy of receipt if they can reimburse me to fulfill their lifetime warranty. I just kept getting apologies and no they can't. I told them it is not right to uphold your warranty at some capacity. I have the signed paperwork. I think they should offer some kind of reimbursement to their clients that were promised a lifetime warranty even if it is a fraction. I also asked to speak to higher up or owner so we can reach a resolution, but I was told there is no one else to help. This is false advertisement and a break in a contract.Business response

We called the customer multiple times and left her voicemails in regards to a resolution. We have not heard back from the customer.Customer response
03/08/2024
I am rejecting this response because: The response that I read From Global distribution services, Inc. or elite, garage door repairs, LLC was that they tried to call me and leave messages and did not hear back from me. This is not true. I am the one that reached out on multiple occasions to try to find out why we were (as we later found out) that we were billed more than 3xs the amount that other garage door companies charge for the exact same work. We asked ******, the installer, on multiple occasions, how much our bill was going to be. We never got a quote from ****** or Elite Garage ************* LLC until the work was completed. The amount of the bill was $1701.32. Even though this bill seem very excessive, we paid the bill with a check. Immediately after ****** left, we called 3 other local, reputable garage door companies, in our area and found out that the exact same repairs and work that was done would average around $500 to $600 dollars. At this point, my husband and I felt like we were significantly taken advantage of. In learning this, we stopped payment on the check and contacted elite garage door repairs to discuss the bill. Since I did cancel the check, I immediately called the Elite Garage Door Monday morning February 12, 2024 @ 8am to discuss the excessive charges. The gentleman who answered said that I had to speak with customer ********************** and they arrive after 10 AM. Just after 10a.m. I made A second phone call and spoke to the customer ********************** representative, ******. We did come to the conclusion that they double billed us for the labor charges. ****** said that she would remove one of the labor charges. This would bring the bill to $1470.33. My husband and I told her that this was still too excessive and asked if they would do better. ****** stated that she would expedite this bill to senior management. I did not hear anything from this company so I made a 3rd phone call back to ****** on February 20, 2024. In speaking with ****** she informed me that senior management would remove all labor charges to bring the price down. This would be a total of $461.98, which would bring the bill to $1239.34. ****** informed us that this is the best that they could do and they would not remove any more money from the price. We told ****** that the price was still too excessive, and we offered to have them come out and remove all of their product and parts and we would find someone else to do the job cheaper. ****** stated that they do not sell used parts. This did not make sense to us until we read their contract that was first emailed to us only after ******, the installer, left our property on February 9, 2024. The contract reads that all sales are final. No refunds or returns. We were still unsatisfied with this response, so we told ****** that we would get back to her with our decision. At that time we looked up, elite, garage door, repairs, LLC on the Internet and found out that they has an F rating with the Better Business Bureau. It is at this time that we decided to file a dispute with your Better Business Bureau organization, and ******************* at the ************************ of *************** On February 24, 2024 the woman I spoke with at the ************************ said that we needed to fill out a form on the Internet and not to make contact with the elite garage door, repairs, LLC as they would act as mediator, between the two of us. I did receive a voicemail back from ****** on February 29, 2024. She apologizes in the voicemail saying that she had had an incident that happened to her at work and that she was out of the office and that is why we had not heard back from her. Since the Attorney General told us not to make contact with this company, we did not return ******* voice mail. This is the only voicemail that I received, that we had not responded to. As of February 23rd and Elite Garage Door Repairs, LLC has turned our account over to collections for the full amount of $1701.32. we are willing to pay a FAIR amount for the work that has been done, but we will not be taken advantage of.Business response
03/11/2024
We offered the customer the labor amount refunded, the customer declined. As far as the collections was done through telecheck because they did a stop payment to the check. TRS is a third party collections agency outside our control. The customer can contact us and make the payment of $1,239.34 to settle the account. Once that is done they would need to contact TRS to reach out to us to confirm payment and get removed from the list.
All sales are final as stated on the invoice.

We spoke to the collection agency TRS recovery services and also to Telecheck today, and they are showing that we still owe the full balance of $1701.32. According to ************************* and her manager ****** over at TRS they do not have the reduced amount that was given to us via Global Distributions Services, LLC and/or Elite Garage Doors, LLC., in the amount of $1239.34 which, we will agree to pay. I have made a phone call and spoke with ****** over at Elite garage doors LLC today, and told her that once TRS recovery services and TeleCheck have the correct amount of $1239.34 in their computer system and acknowledge that we do not owe the full amount of $1701.32, that we will contact Elite Garage Doors LLC and pay this bill to satisfy this account. Once ****** gets back in touch with me after she hears back from TRS recovery services acknowledging the lower price. She will forward me an email showing me the balance of $1239.34 that needs to be paid to satisfy this account. I will then make payment to Elite garage doors in this amount and it will be the responsibility of Elite, Garage Doors, LLC, and or Global Distribution services, LLC to make sure that TRS Recovery Services and TeleCheck has been notified and that this account has been paid in full, is satisfied and TRS Recovery Services will then remove my name and information from collections and any future harm to my credit score or lean on our property. Once all this has been done, this case with the BBB can be closed. But only closed if acknowledged by TRS Recovery Services and Telecheck has removed and closed this on their end.Customer response

Our technician went out on 1/31/2024 and reprogrammed the customers motor that was not purchased by us. The technician recommended that the customer get new rollers, hinges, springs, and a new motor. The customer declined. The customer contacted the company on 2/9/2024 stating that the door would not fully open. The customer called back the same day within 30 minutes to cancel the appointment because the door is working fine and no longer needs the service. On 2/12/2024 the customer called again to schedule an appointment because the door was only going up about 4 feet and then stops. Our technician advised the customer that he needed a new ********************** motor and the customer stated he would purchase his own elsewhere. We tried multiple times to help the customer but refused the recommendations from the technician. I have attached the information in regards to the customers account.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:
The explanations given by the business are misleading and not truthful.
You will notice (in the first attachment) that their own instructions to their tech clearly say "look for targets of opportunities" (to sell more services).
During the first visit the tech suggested almost everyhing springs, rollers, pulleys, and the motor be replaced. Everything except the garage door itself. The idea must be to sell more unneeded stuff. He did not say this thing cannot be fixed.
He made minor adjustments to the trolley travel. His charges varied from $ 150 for that particular day. Finally, he charged me $ 200 plus. I paid it, thinking that at least the door opener was working. But that lasted for only one day.
When he came back to refix the problem, he couldn't fix it. Then his estimate for new opener started with $ 500. But when I was about to sign on it went as high as $ 1200. It was obvious that there was no real price. It was incredible, The price was what he could extract from me. So I declined.
I ended up paying $ 200 plus for no service at all.
I would like a refund from the business. If not, I will have to file a complaint with the Washington State ************************** I may not get anything. But at least they will start a file on this deceptive business for future.

Took about 5 minutes including time to borrow my ladder. I asked what was included in the "tuneup" portion of the offer and he replied "Uh, well we look at it). Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/11/08) */ The customer was charged for the initial lube and tune which is lubricating the rollers and doing a 21 point inspection. The tech would not have known that the springs needed retention without the inspection. A spring retention is a repair not a service. The customer got the spring retention at a discounted price for $89 bringing the total to $130 with the lube and tune. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/11/11) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Their advertising is misleadimg amnd they qre huding behind disengeneous semantics to avoid providing services promiosed for the aevertised proice. To wit, they advertise tuneup as included in theavertised price, but will only "look at"the functioning of the door for that price. They then claim that adjustmnts, which reasonble person would categorize as "service" entitles them to an additional chage. At the very least they should be required to cease using the flyer prviously sent you until it iss changd to rad more accuratel, such as "Lube and Inspection" ratHer than "lUBE AND tUNE" AND SPECIFY THAT SEVICE TO THE UNIT WILL VBE =AN EXGTRA CHARGE. This really a bait and switch company.
