The true test of a mans character is when things go wrong. Before hiring *************************, i found a few complaints and negative reviews against him online with *************** and Better Business Bureau. However, considering spray foam is supposed to be an easy project, I didnt put much thought into his complaints. In hindsight, I really should have paid more attention to what the consumers were complaining about. The common denominator with all his complaints is this gentleman will not do the right thing when his jobs go wrong. 1 month after applying an open cell spray foam in our attic, the foam continues to off gas an intense chemical smell throughout our home. We have contacted numerous foam companies from around the country. All of which say if theres any smell at all coming from the foam more than ************************************************************************ the installation was done incorrectly. We have since given ************************* multiple opportunities to do the right thing. Out of sheer desperation we even offered to purchase a new AC system from him if he will just remove the defective foam so we can get our house back. We have been living in a barn with no plumbing for a month now to avoid exposing ourselves to the toxic chemicals being off gassed by the spray foam. After weeks of going back-and-forth, he finally showed up to inspect the work in person. However, he brought an air quality test person with him, but refused to test inside the attic space where the foam was. Only wanting to test the air inside the home. It was immediately clear to me this gentleman did not visit our home because he cared about our safety and wanted to ensure he was doing the right thing. He was visiting our home to arm himself with false test results in the event we sued him in court. He has no concern for the safety of his customers or his own employees and was willing to risk his own company reputation over a botched $6800 foam job. Not a good person.

I am rejecting this response because:

As I stated in my original complaint, the true test of a mans character is when things go wrong. We contacted the foam companies he supposedly had these tests done with, and they all confirmed that not only are they not testing for the very chemicals we are smelling, but that we should consider any smell coming from a foam job after 48 hours not good for you. My family and I conducted extensive research regarding the entire foam industry. Apparently, you will not find much in regards to the negative aspects of spray foam, because all those involved are forced to sign nondisclosure agreements, preventing them from telling their story. Its because naturally, most customers are going to prefer to recover their lost money versus accepting the loss and telling the story to prevent others from making the same mistake. We knew full well after the first few weeks of going back and forth with Quality Foam Solutions, that this company was not going to issue a refund or do anything based on our well-being. We met with several attorneys who all assured us not only where we going to win the case, recovering all of the money spent, on top of that we would be compensated for having to be displaced out of our homes for a month, etc. The only catch, is that we would be required to sign a nondisclosure, preventing us from telling our story or posting about this company publicly for all to see. To everyones shock and amazement, we chose to take the loss, pay out-of-pocket to have the defective foam removed ourselves, and file complaints against the company and post blogs publicly, so that others do not make the same mistake. Everyone must remember, there was a time when asbestos was approved by the government and installed in millions of homes across the US, when it too was believed to be safe and non-harmful for humans. It was only years later, it was discovered that was not the case, but only after hundreds of thousands of people had to die. I am 100% certain had I not removed this foam, it was going to result in some type of long-term health issues for either me or my family. If there was even a one percent chance of that being the case, why take the risk? Regardless of what tests were conducted, every time we walked into this home, it smelled like chemicals. I attempted for months to check samples of the foam, hoping and praying and wishing the smell would just stop and go away. It did not. I found others online complaining about this very same smell returning every summer when their attic spaces heated up. Continuing to off gas chemicals throughout their homes. This is not something I was willing to roll the dice with. The difference between me and the owner of quality foam solutions, is if one of my customers complained of a chemical smell continuing to off gas into their homes, I would have torn all of the foam out immediately, simply because it was the right thing to do. Coincidentally, nearly every foam company we spoke with, also confirmed that it is very typical and normal to occasionally have to remove all or a portion of the foam and redo it to prevent this very issue. Yet, when we asked quality foam solutions, they continued to defend their installation, stating out of hundreds of jobs conducted that they have never once had to remove ********. It was clear to us, this company was not experienced in doing spray foam. They run an air conditioning business, which is their primary business with a side business of spray foam. Spray foam is not something you should trust to a side company. In my opinion, you should not install spray foam anywhere you are going to inhabit for long periods of time. Maybe a shop or a storage shed is OK. Having my family breathe chemicals in and out on a daily basis for a 20, 30, 40 year period was just not something I wanted to risk. Furthermore, I do not feel foam is safe for humans period. You can bet there was no where near enough tests conducted to confirm the safety of this product before okaying it to be sprayed into homes. It is yet another desperate reach and attempt to find some type of energy saving material to help us with the ever increasing heat that is only getting hotter, causing all of us to consume more energy. I agree we do need to find something. But I do not think spraying in a petroleum based product in an inhabitable area is the answer. As a business owner, there are times, when I have to bite the bullet and accept a loss simply because its the right thing to do. There are thousands of company owners, all across the ***************** area, calling themselves businessmen. Yet, very few of them actually know what they are doing or are willing to do the right thing when things go wrong. Before hiring anyone, especially a foam company, you must ensure you are paying very close attention to the complaints they have from other customers. I myself saw negative complaints against this business owner. Yet I ignored them because I did not feel it would apply to the small easy foam job we were doing. Looking back, I should have paid more attention to exactly what those complaints were saying. The common denominator was that this company owner was not going to be willing to do the right thing when things went wrong. I should have listened to those customers who were trying to warn me. Read your reviews. More specifically, pay very close attention to the complaints, and exactly what those consumers are trying to warn you about. If youre about to spend thousands of dollars regardless of what it is for, why take the risk on someone that has any complaints at all. Find a company that has no complaints and is willing to do the right thing no matter what. They may be much harder to find, but they are out there.

      Regards,
