They provided cross country moving...this is COMPLETE NEGLIGENCE on their part. I just told them this item was over 100 yrs old (English antique Lady Queen Anne per the documentation from the antique dealer when I purchased already listed it over 100 yrs old in the 80's) and to be extra careful with it (we have witnesses) next thing it's in 2 pieces. I filed a claim for $3500 because you can't replace antiques. They sent me a check for $178ish that I still haven't deposited. They claim that since I signed the per pound that's all that's owed. This was not just a scratch. The team KNEW they had broken this piece and though I was standing just feet away said NOTHING to me or my husband and tried to hide it. I have pictures. Then when I said something they were like "oh that's not important piece, I can easily nail it/fix it." So manual labors all of a sudden become antique furniture repair men. They told me to just file a claim once everything was delivered. I've been in bad health since we moved and this is the 1st chance I've been able to follow up. It is completely UNACCEPTABLE for them to bust a piece into and only have to pay "per pound" especially when told to take EXTRA care less than 10 mins before. This item can't be "replaced" it has sentimental value as well as being an antique. This was to be passed down to my children. Not to mention the HUGE scratches. We have moved this piece numerous times and this is the 1st time there was absolutely NO CARE given during moving. As you can see it was in one piece with a blanket WE put on there with shrink wrap and they were to cover and strap ALL furnishing as you can see that was NOT done. They should have also use some sort of cart/dolly to move it so there would be no extra strain on the piece...again they didn't do anything. Less than 15 mins of moving from the storage unit to the elevator it was in 2 pieces. It's obvious they didn't take any CARE in moving this item. NO extra blankets for cushioning.Business response
