Used my friends sons death as an excuse to sell their services. They called saying they had some things that belonged to their son who passed in 2023 only to try to sell burial services to these parents who are mourning their son.Review from Aaron M

I "dealt" with Ryan ******* at ********** ***** ******* **** * ******** ****. What an intensely frustrating waste of time. I was attempting to get a quote for cremation services. The entire interaction, or lack thereof, left me convinced that my last wishes would be unmet. From unreturned calls and emails, the unwillingness to make an appointment and the lack of interest in my business, Ryan proved to be the ultimate in unprofessionalism. He was too "busy" to assist me. Unless you are forced at gunpoint to utilize the services of ********** *****, and Ryan *******, you will be grieving more than the loss of your loved one. The way this business is run is akin to a used car lot. Whomever is waving the most cash around is the one that will get the attention. What an unprofessional, unprincipled, lax, disreputable, unethical outfit.Review from Raymond W

Cathedral in the Pines in Tyler Texas was obligated per a very long-standing burial policy to provide facilities & service for my mother's (prepaid) funeral in July 2023. For starters, cemetery staff sat in their truck and watched us wrestle the casket to the grave site, though they were supposedly obligated to assist. "Honorary Pall Bearers" became actual pall bearers apparently because cemetery staff hadn't finished their hamburgers. When our funeral director (not a part of the same corporation) challenged some cemetery charges, the cemetery called me within about ONE WEEK of the funeral and tried to demand money from me. The caller did a pathetic job of pretend pleasantries and was VERY aggressive about demanding money. Then I got a call from his local boss demanding money. She at least had sense enough to back off quickly. Less than a month after the funeral, I got another call from a corporate person, still claiming that I personally owed them more money. Remember, it wasn't my funeral, I never signed anything, and it was all prepaid. Two weeks ago, in late May 2024, I got a mail notice from a bill collector agency demanding the same money for a non-existent debt. So take you chances w/ Cathedral in the Pines, but be ready to have your pockets picked if you allow it.Review from Robin F

Directors are very clearly after money, and if you even mention concerns about cost will start trying to push you to "cheaper" facility's. My mother had already paid for a plot at woodlawn, we had to go significantly into debt to pay for a very basic service. In the end they didn't have a preacher available and just played some music at a viewing. After the services it became impossible to get through to anyone regarding the burial, headstone or death certificates (still haven't recived and it's been years). Every time you call the receptionists forward you to a different person's mailbox (which are often full) and you never hear back. You HAVE to go in person to get anything done, so if you do t live local that's an issue (we live hours away). The experience was horrific and turned an already upsetting situation into a nightmare.Review from Michelle Z

I would never use them again. We used them for my father's funeral and everything was fine but that was 16 years ago. The people there now are not good at all. Me and my sister paid for our mothers funeral but we were not allowed to pick up her ashes or the 20 necklaces at $295 each, we were not allowed in any decision making. Instead they wanted to come continuously push paperwork in front of us to sign. No they told her brother have and controll everything. I would never ever recommend them to anyone. Stay far far awayReview from chris s

$5000 Ransom for the return of my Sibling. My Sister passed away September 03, 2022 in San Jose, CA. By the time I was notified of my Sister’s death, she had already been Cremated by *** **** ******* **** and her remains had been released to an unknown stranger. I contacted Oak Hill about my Sister’s remains as I am the only remaining Sibling to my Sister and I am also the Court Appointed Administrator of the Estate. I presented all of the necessary documentation to *** **** verifying my position as such. That is when I discovered that my Sister’s remains were released to an unknown individual without presenting Identification as a Family Member, or without any Authorization from a Family Member to receive those remains. I have contacted Oak Hill for information about who my Sister’s remains were released to but the Funeral Home has refused to respond to the Certified Letter sent to them. I have passionately asked Oak Hill to assist me in the recovery of my Sister but they have refused to respond. With the high cost of an Attorney we were able to determine and locate who the person is that *** **** released my Sister to. That same person also seized two bank accounts including a lifelong IRA belonging to my Sister. I contacted the person in possession of my Sister and that individual is now demanding a $5000 Ransom for the return of my Sister’s remains. I have contacted the *** **** ****** ********** with all of this information but have not received a reply from any of these Agencies as of yet. I can never Memorialize my Sister when she is sitting on a shelf in some unknown stranger’s house. Save yourself, and save your Family all of the Heartbreak, Headaches and Devastation due to the lack of “Attention to Details” involved when using *** **** ******* ****** Services. Respect the Deceased and have your Loved Ones taken care of somewhere other than *** **** ******* *****Review from david g

Our loved one was laid to rest about 1 week ago from writing this review. We are so hurt from losing a young family member of the family. Unable to grieve completely since we made this choice; poorly managed. Family counselor and staff did not attend. It's very greedy & unsafe. our tribute with fresh flower arrangements not even a week after burial were tossed on multiple times within a 11 day period from my brother burial date by a staff member. The funeral home poorly managed 2 burials side by side on sane row with different families. Very disrespectful. Lots of money went into the flower arrangement and services, but more importantly the respect and honor we attempted to give my brother's gravesite, our tribute with a beautiful fresh cross flower arrangements and flowers in carton boxes, and my time to grieve as it should--will never be replaced nor will I feel safe to tribute or honor his site with such beautiful flowers again. With that notion, I share with you reading this review.Review from James M

Purchased a memorial bench from Dignity Memorial at Greenlawn Cemetery in Jacksonville FL for $14k +/-. 90 days have passed and have heard nothing from anybody at Dignity Memorial. Turns out the 3 people I have been working with left the company and NO ONE was assigned to take over their accounts or answer their emails. Every business professional interred at Greenlawn is spinning in their grave. Is this any way to run a business, let alone, provide Dignity to the bereaved of those that have passed on? I am so disappointed (that word is not strong enough!) in Dignity Memorial's process I would demand my money back, but the Family has suffered enough through Dignity Memorial's process, or more precisely the lack thereof. Dignity Memorial appears to have lost sight that the people interred at your cemeteries, evidently there are several throughout NE Florida are not just remains or ashes. But complaining will get me nothing because Dignity Memorial just doesn’t appear to care. Just because the Dignity Memorial employees you’re dealing with speak softly and act all empathetic it doesn’t mean they care one bit. “Buyer Beware” and be prepared for the possibility that your Family’s grief will be extended due to the poor service provided by Dignity Memorial. Best of luck in your future endeavors.
