Somewhere prior to November 2022, something happened in the companies billing system. Our automatic payments just stopped and the company didn't know about it either. So nobody was informed. Roll forward to August 2024, a debt collector had reached out to me.. I did not set up a payment plan but instead told them I would call the company directly because I had no idea what was going on and why the balance was so high. Here's where I ****** up... whomever I talked to at the company told me about the error and I thought we had made agreements that my account would not be disconnected as long as I was making payments. Sadly my first payment bounced so that looked bad... but the next two went through... I had made $150 in payments, well over what was charged for the month.. and I had planned on shoving 150-200 at it each month until we were caught up. Unfortunately, my service was disconnected on Nov 4 or 5, 2024. I called them today and they have no notes on the account and are unwilling to work with me and connect my service until the account is paid in full. I wouldn't have been in this situation had their system not messed up... thanks guys for doing this right before the cold weather hit... so I guess I may be without hot water, heat, and a stove to cook with for a while.CenterPoint Energy, LLC Response

1 star because it's star...but I bought a house, made an appointment to get my gas transferred over. The appointment was canceled by CenterPoint and nobody bothered to let me know they canceled. The next day I call back, they said I didn't pay the deposit. Then the lady said I was notified of the deposit by the previous rep. I wasn't. I assumed anything would be added to my first bill since nothing else was discussed. So, more cold showers, more take out, and now they're telling me I have to wait a few days and I have to pay more connection fees. On top of that, the lady wouldn't let me speak. She was rude, extremely rude. I swear to GOD I wish there was another gas company in my area.Review from Joshua W

Trying to connect gas at new home supposed to come out on a Thursday. CP said they called 2 times and no one answered and came by house…..we received no call and no one rang door bell or knocked because dog would have barked. Said would come out Friday same run around said they called no one answered so the cancelled the appointment no call no show then the are off on weekends so no gas until Monday when they were supposed to come out again. Wife in constant contact with CP assuring we are on the schedule. And no one calls or shows up again. We had 2 adults at the house 2 loud ass dogs that bark at everything there CP said they came by and called 2 times we didn’t receive any calls or attempt to ring door bell. Just wondering if this is something CP does when they are short staffed or are black balling a customer. We still have no gas and CP should not be allowed to operate in Texas. The worst customer service I’ve have ever experienced.CenterPoint Energy, LLC Response

The customer service is rude . They resort to mocking, laughing, and name calling . Managers are unavailable to be contacted for a min of 24 hours . If you have an issue with your bill that requires any type of human assistance you will not get it from this company . If I could give less than 1 star I would .. no wonder why the BBB revoked their accreditation.CenterPoint Energy, LLC Response

Power consistently goes out, even when its a bright and sunny day. Seriously considering moving to an area of Houston that CenterPoint does operate in when I buy my next house. They are the worst energy company in the world. Feels like I live in a 3rd world country.CenterPoint Energy, LLC Response

Unexpectedly disconnected my gas Thursday evening - the same night I was hosting a dinner party. Had to last minute cancel and called Centerpoint to understand what the issue was. They sent out a technician later Thursday evening to replace the meter and reconnect the gas. Met the technician who said they'd be "30 minutes and will come back to knock on my door". I was working in my driveway, and I never saw the technician again. Gas was not turned on. I don't even understand why they showed up if they didn't do anything or tell me why they couldn't fix it that night. They came back Friday morning while I was out of town to be able to cook and do laundry for me and my family. Total lack of communication. On top of that, their office is closed on weekends so I couldn't reach out to Centerpoint to schedule a technician to restore my gas service until Monday. 72hours without gas because of poor quality customer service is pretty ridiculous. There wasn't even a storm, and they can't tell me what happened with my gas line. All my neighbors have gas no problem. Their customer service structure is separate from their technician structure so the two can't communicate, which obfuscates everything about repairs.CenterPoint Energy, LLC Response

September 11, 2024 This is the second day for unconnection. They came early. That was good. We called CenterPoint at 3:45pm, yesterday, for a reconnection. We got a standby generator and new breaker box. It is now 9:18 am, and still have not seen them. Going on 18 hours. Unacceptable! When we called them the first time, for unconnection, they did not send two people. It could not be done. They showed up later, the same day, and it was too late. CenterPoint service is horrible. 8 days no power, really not a big deal. Eating peanut butter on bread and drinking hot water because there's no ice to be had. Power comes on I'm not excited at all. I wait 5 days, buy food for the refrigerator and freezer. Power immediately goes out, it's been out for about a day. Now I have to throw all these groceries away. I hope this company fails and goes out of business and you all lose your jobs. Have a wonderful day, I'm not.CenterPoint Energy, LLC Response

Whatever you didn’t do to avoid this much outages and damage. I’ve heard many things. At this point I’m confident they are ALL true. It just shouldn’t take this long. 8 days no power in the hottest month of summer. Food is ruined and can’t afford to replace it all much less pay your rates for the bill. I mean somebody has to be last to get power and you made sure it was Kingwood.. hats off to the linemen out there though. This debacle falls on the leaders who made sure they got there bonuses. When I was young, I would see companies cutting away foliage, trees, limbs, from power lines. I guess the City, CenterPoint and HOAs can’t figure out who’s actually financially responsible for performing the preventive maintenance so y’all just let it go? Right? Welp, ?????????? THANKS. Thank you for the ** you putting us through. Much of this could have been better handled. Outages are expected but 8 days with no power in this heat after paying what we pay and watching the CEO MAKE ABOUT 7 million and the company report it’s very high profits.. YEAH, if I could only say what I want.CenterPoint Energy, LLC Response
