I have had HOA since I built my house 5 years ago. We called because we wanted to check the price for our business insurance for a building that was on the property next to ours. Their underwriters ASSUMED it was on our property because we asked for a quote, even though they said they could not insure our business. Several months later, I got an email stating that they are canceling our HOME policy because we called for a quote on a BUISNESS they didn't even cover. Basically, let us take your money for 5 years, not pay a single claim, then kick you to the curb.Review from Jazzy A

******** company! They make the deductibles EXTREMELY HIGH, where you pretty much can't afford to get things done. This should be illegal! I will get an attorney if I need to. They will not make it hard for me when I pay my insurance on time.Review from Lauryn V

We switched to HOA when they offered us a very competitive rate, but then had to submit a huge claim for a car that crashed into our home in April of 2024. They were fairly communicative initially, but as soon as I started asking for a supervisor I was incredible disappointed. We had one person who was our point of contact, but when she was out of the office there seemed to be no way to communicate with anyone that would help us. We had two expenses for the same thing that was required by our contractors (asbestos abatement) and one was approved and the other wasn't, leaving us with almost $10k to pay out of pocket. At one point I was leaving voicemails and emails every single day, asking for a supervisor, and then I would hear back several days later from the same POC. To date, almost 6 months later, not a single supervisor has reached out to me. Makes me think they don't have them. Would NOT recommend.Review from Yanti M

******* suffered a catastrophic storm on July 8th, 2024. I reached out and filed a claim for my wind damage, only to face denial for the second or third time. It's been five weeks awaiting their response, and I was informed that the damages were insufficient for assistance. The wind has torn off my gutters and some shingles, resulting in leaks and wet sheetrock inside my home. An inspector sent by the homeowner's insurance seemingly failed to record all the reported issues. They plan to merely patch the roof, implying that I must cover these repairs myself. Additionally, Houston endured 46 days of temperatures exceeding 100 degrees, causing my driveway and patio concrete to crack. After filing a claim for this, the adjuster informed me it was due to "the earth shifting," leaving me speechless. Because I don't live in a state prone to earthquakes or mudslides, I was caught off guard by the power outage that persisted for several days. Consequently, I bought a generator to protect my health (as I am handicapped) and to prevent my food from spoiling. Regrettably, my insurance claim did not cover the costs for replacing my gutters, food, generator, generator fuel, sheetrock, or roof. It seems to me that this insurance company just collects premiums without providing coverage, and still, they have the nerve to increase the insurance rates every year.Homeowners of America Insurance Co. I noticed others here are very similar to my opinion and how I was treated. Hurricane ***** did some damage but I am told my damage was minor. I was also told my roof was the cheapest built roof they have nowadays. The adjuster estimated my damage below my deductible for this type of event. Not even an allowance for food loss, tarping or even repairing the roof. It all came out of my senior retired pockets. Since this event, I have heard from neighbors whose insurance company paid for the tarp and repairs and food loss but not the complete roof however a small amount of neighbor's insurance companies did decide to replace the whole roof because they said it was a lousy roof to begin and the next little storm would just do additional damage so some are getting new better roofs to stand up to the weather better. What a brilliant idea by their insurance companies but oh not mine! I am ashamed that I have been paying for insurance that is not helpful when a disaster hits. This policy expires end of the year, you can bet I am going to shop around and now I know certain areas. There needs to be some strict regulation of the insurance industry and how it treats its customers.Review from Deborah T

I purchased this Homeowners insurance 5 years ago. I attempted to speak with the claims department on July 10, concerning loss of all food items, refrigerated medicine and travel expenses related to Hurricane ***** which cause loss of power from rain, wind and lighting our home sustained on July 8, 2024. I was told my policy did not coverage for the items because I did not have some type of refrigerate coverage which was not even offer to me. This policy has loopholes, and the policy does not show items that a homeowner could add or deny this or other items for additional coverage to my policy. I was devastated as I contacted several persons included Westwood customer service who is the agent. As of July 12, our family is still displaced because of the storm.Review from Rosalyn A

To Whom it may concern:The homeowners insurance industry continues to face numerous challenges that escalate carriers costs such as increased storm activity, inflation, continued supply chain challenges, and reinsurance pricing. Unfortunately, one measure HOA has taken is to reduce our book of business based on catastrophe models managed by our reinsurance broker. This was not an easy decision for us but a necessary one. In anticipation of this action, we advised our agents of our plans to non-renew certain policies so that they could proactively assist their clients in obtaining coverage with another carrier. We apologize for this inconvenience.Thank you,Complaints ResolutionReview from HEATH S

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE A COMPLETE WAISTE OF TIME. I SWITCHED TO THEM FROM ALL STATE TO SAVE SOME MONEY. I SENT THEM MY COPY FROM ALL STATE THAT SHOWED MY COVERAGE WITH ALL VERBAGE AND EVERYTHING. I PAID THE POLICY AMOUNT IN-FULL FOR THE WHOLE YEAR. WELL 2 WEEKS LATER I RECEIVE A LETTER SAYING THE POLICY IS BEING CANCELLED.......... SUCH BS! AFTER SPENDING WEEKS GOING BACK AND FORTH WITH THEM BEFORE I PAID IT. SO NOW I HAVE HAD TO SCRAMBLE TO FINE ANOTHER CARRIER. THIS SHOULD BE ILLEGAL, ESPECIALLY AFTER I PAID IN FULL. THEY SHOULD HAVE TO HONOR!!! TRUST ME PAY ************* YOUR TIME!!!!
