By far the worst customer experience I've had in my life. Days of running around because every single person there told me something different. Will never shop there again.Review from Devin J

I usually don’t do things like this but I had the worst experience. A short white guy named nick followed me and my family around the store as I was shopping. I am a black man. Never once asked me if I needed help with anything, just continued to watch me shop as if I was going to steal something. It made not only me uncomfortable, but my family. The constant being profiled is unacceptable. I work hard for my money just like any other race. There’s no way that I should be followed around a store like we’re in the civil rights era. I understand the rise in theft, but all of that time you spent watching me, you could’ve caught a real perpetrator. If my children wasn’t with me I would’ve put everything back. I don’t understand why people act like this. At least you could’ve had some finesse with it. You could’ve act like we were having a conversation but no, you continued to follow me around the store. Even told someone to check the cameras. I don’t raise my kids to steal and I for d*** sure hate a thief. What I’ve learned about people who act this way with people, is that they’re hiding something themselves. Please do something about the racial profiling. I really hope someone from management or someone important sees this comment/review.Review from Tom W

I have a credit card thru Academy Sports and Outdoors. I made a purchase on the card after they offered a discount if I applied and were approved. The first billing I paid off about half the balance. The 2nd month the statement balance was $40.52 total. I paid off the full balance owed as shown on the statement. The next month I received a bill for $3. I called to get an explanation and was told it was interest because I did not pay off the full amount in 30 days. I pointed out that charge did NOT show up on the statement balance and they said it was listed in another area on another page of the statement. I pointed out if I owed $ it should show on the total balance as I obviously wanted to pay off the full amount and they should not be hiding charges. The rep stated simply that I owed it and it would not show in the statement balance and I asked how a person would know they owed this charge and they offered no explanation. I feel this is an unprofessional and predatory way to do business which could lead to people paying off the statement balance on their account and getting an unexpected charge later onReview from Tammy H

Was accused of stealing by this business and was not at all a lady/emploee walked up to me said to me I seen you put that in your purse and hich was my notebook I dumbed my purse out rite there on cam quarters went everywhere everyone was starring I was so embarrassed that this lady accused me of false doing and the manager said something would be done but really was there anything done about it I lost my job I was their getting stuff for work for the-next day it’s just has caused so much trial and air in my lifeReview from Ivan G

Waited out there for 30+ minutes for curbside pick up past the 10 minute mark set by Academy and nobody came to check up on me after an employee delivered other items to cars doing curbsidethat showed up after me.Unacceptable customer service. and I still haven’t received my item yet I just left unbelievableReview from Jadon P

I never write negative reviews, but here we are. Doing business with this store was an incredibly expensive nightmare. I purchased a gun safe from this location online. I live two hours away in Charlotte, NC. I knew the stock was limited so before making the costly trip to take delivery I called the store to verify and double verify that the safe was on premises and available. Twice. I even requested the employee place eyes on it in person, just to be sure. It was confirmed that everything was in order and safe would be ready by time I arrived. Sure enough, over an hour and a half into my trip I received an email from Academy stating that the product was not available. Between truck expenses and fuel this mistake by Academy cost me around $250, and that’s not taking into consideration the four hours of my time, wasted. The best solution the manager, Brian, was able to offer me was “well I could sell it to you and you could fix it yourself”. The safe was apparently on premises but entirely unusable. All in all it was a time consuming, expensive, and miserable experience all at the fault of Academy and their employees, with all the consequences falling on me. Avoid this location at all costs.Review from George C

On 4/5th, I purchased a baseball cap to cover surgery I had on my head. Since I never used the cap and still had the receipt, I went into the Gretna, LA store to return the purchase for a refund. The minute I walked in, I was advised that the system was down and they could not help me. (This was before the 60-days ended). The store is not close to where I lived so I attempted it again today since I was in the area. When I walked in, a gentleman immediately took my cap and handed me my receipt and sent me to a very long t\line to wait for my refund. I did and when I finally got the the cashier, she refused to give me me my refund. When I tried to explain to her she refused to hear anything I said and scolded the man who let me in at the door. This woman was 1 of 2 cashiers handling this large amount of people. Very poor customer service and horrible attitude. I will never shop at Academy Sports again. All for a 20.00 refund!Review from John G

I ordered a pair of $39.99 ******** online, however, when they arrived they weren’t what I thought they were and needed to return them. I found a store nearby in Bradenton, FL on their website, however, when I got there the store was still under construction with a big ‘coming soon’ sign. Two days later I went to their store in Pinellas Co., a 90 min. drive, however, when I walked into the store I was immediately told that their ‘return & exchange’ was down companywide, with an ‘I’m sorry.’ No one would be able to help me. I will never shop in their store ever again and will be donating the shoes to a very needy person.Review from James G

Bait and switch fraud. A product on their website was listed as in stock for $39.99 (which is a typical normal price, not a sales price or a mistake). I ordered 2. The next business day they cancelled the order claiming to be out of stock. 2 days later the product was in stock again, but now for $56.99. They refused to honor the order I had already placed for this. I doubt very seriously it ever went out of stock, I think they just decided they wanted to gouge customers for an extra 30% and didn't want to honor their previously sold items.Review from Christopher G

Web site is trash. I tried changing my address, and thought it worked. For years my stuff was sent to the correct address, but then it wasn't, and they basically said too bad.
