NB Animal Urgent Care Response
04/19/2024
I know you are hurting. The simple fact is your kitty was going to die. She could go peacefully by not waking her up from a very painful surgery and trauma that was inflicted many hours prior to her coming to me, OR waking her up and waiting an unknown amount of time for you to call me back. You were NOT driving home when I called you. You had left hours before and it was after midnight when you were called. You told my receptionist that your phone was not working and gave us the number to your elderly mother. Since you or your mother did not answer after calling twice, the decision was made to help your kitty pass peacefully. Your previous kitty did not have the same amount of damage or she would not have lived either. I have done everything to explain and help ease your pain, even refunding the whole amount of $3500 for your invoice. Not because I did anything wrong but because I care deeply about all my clients and patients. You are allowed to have your opinion but I will not allow you to make false alligations against me or my staff after taking extremely compassionate care and very expensive care of your precious kitty in the last several hours of her life. I hope you find peace in the decisions you made for your kitty in her last 24 hours of life. I have full peace knowing the pain and suffering she would have experienced had I woke her up. And if anyone else would not want me to make that same compassionate decision for their own beloved family member in their absence, then my hospital is Not the place for them to come. I will ALWAYS do what I feel is best for my patient which is the oath every veterinarian takes when we are blessed with this as our profession and livelihood.
Respectfully,

PLEASE REPLACE INITIAL RESPONSE FROM NB ANIMAL URGENT CARE WITH THIS ONE...
****,
I know you are hurting. The simple fact is your kitty was going to die. She could go peacefully by not waking her up from a painful surgery and trauma that was inflicted many hours prior to her coming to me, OR waking her up and waiting an unknown amount of time for you to call me back. Your kitty was in critical condition on presentation and had to be stabilized prior to surgery. So you were not driving home when I called you. You had left hours before and it was after midnight when you were called. You told my receptionist that your phone was not working and gave us the number to your elderly mother. Since you or your mother did not answer after calling twice, the decision was made to prevent further suffering. Your previous kitty did NOT have the same amount of damage or she would not have lived either. I have done everything to explain and help ease your pain, even refunding the whole amount of $3500 for your deposit, which cost me over thousand dollars in the diagnosis, stabilization, and surgery for your kitty. Not because I did anything wrong but because I care deeply about all my clients and patients. You are allowed to have your opinion but I will not allow you to make false allegations against me or my staff after taking extremely compassionate care of your precious kitty in the last several hours of her life. I hope you find peace in the decisions you made for your kitty before bringing her to my hospital. Allowing numerous cats to remain unaltered and have repeated litters of inbred kittens in your home to the point you don't even know when they are pregnant is not ethical. And trying to pull a kitten out of a cats vaginal canal leading to irreparable damage was not something done in my hospital. Why you waited 24 hours to bring your precious kitty in after findings blood the night before was not a decision I made. I have full peace knowing the pain and suffering she would have experienced had I woke her up. I will ALWAYS do what I feel is best for my patient which is the oath every veterinarian takes when we are blessed with this as our profession and livelihood.
