I had a great experience buying a new car! I was incredibly stressed out when I realized that I needed to enter the car buying arena again after 10 years. I was able to send information via email to ***** ******** to request the best out the door price and he rose to the challenge. He then introduced me to ****** back in the finance room who worked with me to get the things I wanted for my new cars warranty. They even made the process of trading in my old car very easy! If you need a new vehicle I would suggest getting to San Marcos Toyota and asking for *****!San Marcos Toyota Response

I'm a 100% disabled veteran and military retiree. I've been to many dealerships in my life, and this organization seems very poorly managed with horrible customer service. I understand, if we can't make a deal, however, I will not let anyone treat me without courtesy, respect or human decency. To my fellow veterans, for our sacrifices we made to our country, take your business elsewhere. We do matter!God bless!!San Marcos Toyota Response

We are attempting to contact this customer as there is no information in his review / complaint about how he was treated "without courtesy, respect, or human decency". We have several veterans on our team, so this seems very odd.Review from Waseem A

I purchased a 2023 Toyota Sienna from this dealership last year, and it was the worst car-buying experience I've ever had. They forced me to buy unnecessary protection packages for the windshield, GPS, and paint, claiming they were mandatory, and marked up the car's price as well by $3,000. In total, I ended up paying $8,000 over the MSRP.Unfortunately, after signing the contract, I realized they had charged me separately for the protection plans that were supposedly included in the base price. When I confronted them, they refused to acknowledge their mistake and wouldn't provide a price breakdown. The staff was not only unprofessional but also rude, and they left me paying double for these protection plans that are non-cancellable and non-refundable.I spoke with **** from Sales and Finance multiple times, but they were dismissive and offered no help in resolving the issue. I'm extremely disappointed with how I was treated and will never return to this dealership. I strongly advise anyone considering this place to carefully review everything before signing, as they seem more than willing to take advantage of customers and offer no customer service after the contract is signed.San Marcos Toyota Response

It is impossible for a dealership to "force" a customer to do anything. You signed 11 documents when you purchased your vehicle in May 2023 that clearly, transparently, and completely communicated exactly what you were paying for the vehicle and the ancillary products you selected. The signed retail purchase agreement provides a detailed line by line break down of what was purchased.Customer Response

If that is the case, then why anyone from the dealership was unable to give me a breakdown. The breakdown I wanted should have the **** of the car, the markup and the all the charges of protection plans that went along with the advertised price. This was not provided to me, and you say there was transparency in the deal. The purchase agreement has advertised price as sales price and it was signed with details hidden in fine lines. if a customer did not read the fine lines it doesn't mean they cannot ask for details later. This is part of customer service which I can clearly say you guys do not do after an agreement is signed. I see you are still including protection plans with new cars (Check you website), its part of advertised price and you say you do not "force" when it is included in the quoted price on top of **** even today.Review from Carlos F

That day I decided to tarde my 2019 Tacoma for a new model so I went to Toyota San Marcos, I had the worst experience buying a car there, I have been a Toyota customer for 10 years this is my second new Tacoma I have always bought from Toyota ************ , but this time I decided to come to Sanmarcos Toyota, treated me like a idiot and racial discrimination that I have received in my life, the salesman ********************* after lowball me, making me ridiculous price offers for my truck, in front of my wife, my daughter and me, this was his words IF YOU CONTINUE SPEAKING SPANISH I AM NOT GOING TO SELL YOU ANYTHING, ENGLISH IS SPOKEN HERE IF YOU WANT TO BUY A CAR. It bothered me a lot more than anything because of my wife and my daughter after that, one of his colleagues apologized. Even so, when we left the dealer he approached me saying, if you give me 4 stars I won't pass the test, so l hope you give me 5 stars for customer service. That was my first and last time visiting San Marcos Toyota. I would like to talk to someone. But I know it won't happen, we are just another number.(and this is only a small part of the whole story)San Marcos Toyota Response

Google already removed this exact same review under their bullying / hate speech policy. Does BBB plan to publish this review?
The customer is lying and attacking another individual by name. The customer "left the dealer" after buying a new Tacoma, so obviously the deal offered was good enough he traded-in his Tacoma and purchased a new one. Almost every word of his review is a lie.
If the BBB plans to publish this review, I will submit a response.

Came in to purchase a vehicle. Our salesman was great. Once we began negotiations, sales manager ***************************** came out and very rudely addressed us. He raised his voice and was aggressive. He claimed we proposed an offer, and it was accepted, so we were bound to the purchase. I am an attorney and immediately told my husband that we were not bound to any agreement as we had not discussed and agreed to all essential terms. ***** continued to yell that we had made an offer, and it had been accepted. He attempted to use this tactic to intimidate us into the purchase. The entire interaction was awful and unbelievable (we have purchased vehicles before and have NEVER been treated this way). ***** was so aggressive throughout the entire interaction that we had to walk out. ***** should not be allowed to speak to consumers this way and potentially intimidate a consumer into a $70,000 loan.San Marcos Toyota Response

******************* - We are glad to hear your Sales Consultant was great and disappointed to hear you were not able to come to an agreement on a purchase. It was surprising to hear you feel our Sales Manager raised his voice, was aggressive, yelled, and attempted to intimidate you and your husband. As our showroom is completely open, this should have been noticed by another member of our management team and / or your Sales Consultant and been immediately rectified. Again, we are not sure where the miscommunication took place but if you have not purchased a vehicle elsewhere we would certainly like the opportunity to have you continue working with your Sales Consultant and a different Sales Manager so y'all are able to get into a new ride!Review from Alexis M

Bought a car from them, they said they did a check over it before selling it to me. Told me it needed some maintenance, so I didnt even get the car after buying it until two weeks later. I finally get the car and then not even two months later I take it into the shop and it needs over $2000 worth of work done. What did they actually check for before selling it to me? The mechanic said there is no way they could have accidentally missed the work needed if they looked. Could not be more disappointed.San Marcos Toyota Response

****** - We are disappointed to hear you are having problems with your 2018 ****** Forester. Unfortunately, there is no way to know what has happened with the vehicle in the six weeks you have owned it, however, if there was something we missed during reconditioning it should have presented an issue long before 6 weeks. We are not surprised a mechanic would blame the dealership when trying to sell you $2,000 worth of work; if you had contacted anyone on our management team about your concern we would have been happy to inspect / diagnose your concern to determine if we did miss something in reconditioning (no technician is perfect) or if we believe the problem was either not present or developed over the past 6 weeks. When we performed our reconditioning in May the vehicle had ****** miles we completed an oil change, oil filter replacement, engine air filter replacement, cabin air filter replacement, replaced the wiper blades, replaced the windshield, replaced the ** compressor, replaced the catch tank and hose, replaced a broken wheel stud, and recalibrated the auto window function, spending about $2,400 making sure the vehicle was in good shape before delivery.Review from David w

Rude uncaring, unprofessional service techs. I was told after asking a question; if you dont like it here, you dont have to come here, go somewhere else. This was told me by a service tech. So calledSan Marcos Toyota Response

***** - We are very surprised to hear you feel a service tech stated this reply. Do you remember who you spoke with? Did you speak with anyone on our management team about your concern or your experience? We would enjoy the opportunity to assist you with your concern but will need more information to do so.Review from I. L.

I purchased a vehicle on 06.16.23 and I asked for copies of only the initial pages that they didn't hand me that night. The men that I did business with that night on 06.16,2023 hesitated to give copies of all initial documents. He handed me copies of the documents that I signed but not the initial documents I initialed. I asked ******* for those documents since he was the sales men assistance helping me that night and he said that the bank had all the copies. I received only one initial page out of 5 pages on June 29, 2023 along with the license by mail. I requested the other additional initial pages like eight times on several dates according to the texts I sent them. I spoke to a ****, a ******, and the ** manager and they have disregarded my request. They were all rude and obnoxious and they all told me the same thing that they didn't know what I was talking about and they all hung up the phone on me instead of helping me. I was skeptical because I don't know why they won't release those additional initial pages. I don't know what they are all hiding maybe nothing but I need copies of all documents that I initialed that night. I don't trust them. I hope someone reads this and helps me get through these men. We will never go back to buy another vehicle with them. The all are bad men and have poor customer service.San Marcos Toyota Response

Thank you for purchasing your 2020 Chevrolet Trax from San Marcos Toyota. You were provided all signed copies when you purchased the vehicle and a second set of copies was mailed to you, as requested, along with your license plates. The reason our team is unable to assist you further is because no one on our team knows what documents you are referring to that you are requesting. We are not hiding anything as there is nothing to hide. You state you don't trust us and "all are bad men" however we even offered to purchase the vehicle back from you if you were not satisfied and you did not accept this offer.Customer Response

I never received the buy back offer. Can you prove it? We received the license plates as you stated and only received one page out of four pages initialed. The document is called DISCLOSURE OF PROTECTION AND FINANCE OPTIONS. Please get a hold of **** an older guy and ask him about all the documents that he had me initial while ******* me when I was trying to finalized documents with the bank of the phone. I am really concerned that you did not provide the complete set of initial documents. How do you propose to buy back the vehicle? In addition, we received the vehicle with a cracked windshield, and bad windshield wiper blades, and unevenly worn rear tires. Most of these items would not pass the State Inspection but it was passed by San Marcos Toyota.Customer Response

Stu **** **** from *** Marcos, *****. I brought my 2020 Tundra 4 WD into San Marcos Toyota pursuant to a scheduled appointment at 10:30 AM on Tuesday December 27th, 2022. Evidently t**** was a glitch in communication btw the Service person in the cubicle and the actual installation tech in the side area of the establishment, ultimately causing me to have to leave my vehicle overnight. The following day on December 28th, 2022, (today) I was contacted by Service Manager (Advisor) ******************************* at approximately **** (AM), as she was off on December 27th, when I brought the vehicle in. ******* was advised of the event, immediately called me and indicated that she would personally conduct oversight of the work on my vehicle and have the vehicle ready by 10:30 AM. ******* was very apologetic for the miss communication. ******* was kind, diplomatic, and extremely professional in dealing with me and exercised a paramount concern to make sure I was satisfied. ******************************* should be commended for her professionalism, courtesy, and oversight in dealing with these issues daily. I know a little about San Marcos Toyota as Salesman ********************* has been instrumental in selling both my daughter and I approximately (13) different vehicle, in as many years. ********************* has always treated my family with a high degree of professional courtesy, as he has gone above the call of duty in satisfying my family's needs incorporating honor and dignity while representing San Marcos Toyota. I am forwarding a copy of my remarks to CEO Toyota, Tetsuo "************* in hopes that he is as proud of his Toyota representatives as I am. Thank you very much. ...Sincerely, Stu ****Review from TO R

In February of this year, My boyfriend and I stopped by Toyota in San Marcos. When we got there it took someone 30 minutes to greet us. There was a lot of people who were up front hanging out and laughing. Finally one of sales people Cici, came up to us and told us to hold on while she was dealing with another customer. Finally after an hour she came up and we discussed about the car and the price we were looking for. She showed us the car, we took for a test drive, my boyfriend fell in love with it. He was very hesitant about signing but he loved the truck so much he did not want to pass on it and he was promised he would be able to take it home that night. I have been through the car buying process and I've been at a location for over 5-6 hours, but this car dealership we were able to sign off on papers and walk out within 2 hours. Approval didn't take long, which should've been red flag number one. We thought we got a great deal on the truck then the problems started happening. The truck started having battery issues, when we were told everything on the inside was "brand new" and fixed. I called the office to speak to a manager more about the history, got a call from *****, who one was very rude and unhelpful. Blew off the entire fact that I waited 3 days for him to call me back and then told me if it was something bad I should've shown up to the dealership. Battery issue still go one, I call and I'm forwarded to a voicemail, I NEVER GOT A CALL BACK ABOUT THE BATTERY. Fast forward to 6/27/2022 there is leaking from the inside. My boyfriend calls and leaves a voicemail, we get a call back surprisingly! We get squeezed in to their "tight schedule" to only be told we would have to pay almost 6k in repairs for a truck that was sold broken from the beginning. There is just so much fraud going on in this place and I just want to bring this to the attention to whole world. STAY AWAY FROM THEM. TAKE YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE
