BBB promotes truth in advertising by contacting advertisers whose claims conflict with the BBB Code of Advertising.  These claims may come to our attention from our internal review of advertising, consumer complaints, and competitor challenges.  BBB asks advertisers to prove their claims, change ads to make offers more clear to consumers, and remove misleading or deceptive statements.

On June 20, 2023, BBB contacted the business regarding claimed results and testimonials advertised on their website https://sekhmethouseofwellness.com/ and Facebook https://facebook.com/sekhmethouseofwellness.llc.

Sekhmet House of Wellness advertises Google testimonials claiming results regarding Sea moss including: 

“I’m so excited about this fruit infused Seamoss!!... It’s amazingly flavorful and refreshing... Aside of being so good, I felt more energetic, and just overall good all day!  I have thyroid health issues and I have done some research on Seamoss and its health benefits, I’m so glad I found this product.  Definitely will be ordering more.”

BBB Code of Advertising states in general, advertising which uses testimonials or endorsements is likely to mislead or confuse if it is not genuine and does not actually represent the current opinion of the endorser. If a consumer’s experience represented in an advertisement is not the typical experience of those using the product or service, unless the advertisement clearly and conspicuously discloses what the expected results will be.  

BBB requested Sekhmet House of Wellness to disclose and substantiate with scientific evidence the typical result from customers’ testimonials and substantiate the testimonials advertised if they had advertised the claim.

Sekhmet House of Wellness also advertises claims including:

(Sekhmet Herbal Cleansing Tea) “This tea is extremely powerful! It has the ability to cleanse your digestive system and blood.”

(Sekhmet Seamoss Gel Benefits):  “Supports healthy immune system, supports thyroid health, Supports weight management efforts, Helps maintain healthy muscles, Nourishes skin and hair, Helps support libido and stamina, Helps soften and dissolve hardened mucus, Rich in iron, Boosts mental health and energy, Digestion support.”

“Epimedium (also known as barrenwort, bishop’s hat, fairy wings, horny goat weed, or yin yang huo) is an herb used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat fatigue, arthritic pain, nerve pain, and sexual dysfunction.  It is thought to alter levels of certain hormones and is marketed as a dietary supplement for libido.”

“Lion’s Mane beta-glucans a.k.a. immune system modulation, nerve support, improves anxiety, depression, and cognitive decline.”

BBB Code of Advertising States that claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy, or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data.  

BBB requested Sekhmet House of Wellness to substantiate the advertised claims by providing evidence from recent, reliable, and competent scientific studies or other objective data substantiating the claims in their advertising or discontinuing the claims. 

As of July 21, 2023, Sekhmet House of Wellness failed to respond to BBB's requests.
