Do not recommend this company what so ever. First of all, upon installation now a year ago, it was a total disaster. Once we singed on the dotted line, the sales reps were extremely difficult to get a hold of. Most of the time they ghosted us. install happened quickly, but then the system didn't get turned on for another 4 months. We suddenly got a notification that our system failed inspection when no one even showed up. The company offered no explanation on why this happened and no one even called us to let us know what was going on. The re-inspection got re-scheduled, and re-scheduled again! Once again the salesmen were no help. It took calling corporate to get any sort of resolution. We had to start paying for our system before it was even turned on so we had a useless solar bill on top of a $900 power bill. They offered nothing to make it right. The system finally got turned on and flash forward a year later our power bill is still $700. Come to find out, they put enough panels on our house for a house HALF our size. We contacted the useless sales reps again to see what kind of solution they have. Surprisingly they replied, and their solution was to put an add on system to make it what it should have been from the beginning but now we would have 2 solar bills, and 2 ugly power boxes on the front of our house. When asked why they put what they did on our house, they jumped around the question. They didn't even offer an apology, just took it as another opportunity for them to make money. We had been in our house for half a month when they originally came, so we only had half the power bill and they went entirely off that bill. They didn't take into account the pool, the shop, or the fact that our house is entirely electric, or even the size of our house, and we unfortunately didn't know any better. Thank goodness we had a friend sit in on this second convo to better explain what they were spewing to us, otherwise we probably would have been screwed again.Review from RJ H

Warning: Do not use this company to go solar! I'm 64-years-old and have hired many companies for projects at the homes and rental properties I have owned over the past 30 years. Tephra Solar is the worst company I have dealt with. From the beginnings and all through my dealings with them, their incompetence created delays, mix-**** and heated conversations. It took them five months to actually install my panels after my initial purchase. Five months! Then it took them three weeks to reinstall my panels after I replaced my roof from hail damage. I regret having hired them and regret having to even give them a one-star rating just to write this review!Review from Frank C

We had Tephra solar April 18, 2023, for a solar panel installation from day one we should of cancelled this transaction but unfortunately, we didn't, this company employed people that back talked my wife and I told them I didn't want that crew back out there also they place there ladders at the front of my house and made my water down spouts to loosen from the house, also they had a smooth-talking salesman who we felt all he wanted was his commission and any problems he always said to contact the project manager, which was nearly impossible to reach, the drawings to the location on the roof was never discussed with us until they installed and they had to redo this pattern twice, my roof got patched from the install, we also had a panel upgrade and City meter panel upgraded and the electrician I felt was uncapable to doing the job, this so called professional cut and gouged my vinyl siding bad also the roof access panels in my house were tore up due to their carelessness and when I addressed this they told me that it would be taken care of after the project is done. They sent an electrician to install the panels and he did an excellent job. The city for some reason dragged their feet and Tephra did too that the contract ran out and had to be resubmitted, I asked can we CANCEL this transaction, and we were NOT happy with their company, they told me it was too far in to do that. They failed one 2 inspections with the city one for the Electrical panel access and 1 for the solar panels. They finally made everything right so it would pass. Now I fight them to repair my siding and they sent 2 contractors out to do the job and they refused to take it on. The project manager had the nerve to offer us $1000.00 as a suitable fix because they couldn't find anyone to do the job, which we declined; we made a counteroffer which of course they said NO to. Everything I said here is the truth I have all the texts between me and them with pictures to prove.Review from Melanie H

Tephra Solar is the last company I would refer to. They do not address any problems. And continue to try to nickel and dime you for a problem they created. The process has taken over a year and we are still unsatisfied. Poor, poor, poor customer service!

I feel I was in every way scammed. The whole part of this that sold me was the fact that it would save me money, between the payments on my panels and still paying a power bill I am now paying double that what I was paying before the panels. I call them and they say everything is working perfectly but im still paying a $150 to power and $122 to my panels. Last year at the same month my power bill was $137. I dont understand how this could benefit anyone.Tephra Solar Response

The system that is installed on your home is fully operational and producing the amount of energy that it was agreed to produce according to the agreement signed. If you are still having higher utility bills you can look into a few different things with ********************* Has your usage gone up year over year? Has ******************** recently changed their rates that they charge per kilowatt? These are two big factors when looking into a high utility bill. I am extremely frustrated with my experience with tephra solar and would have a hard time recommending them to anyone. I met with Tephras rep on 10/28/23. I signed the contract to move forward on 11/1/23. Tephra completed the design of the plans on 2/6/24 and completed the install on 3/6/24. The city was scheduled to inspect on 3/19/24. I was informed on 3/28/24 that the city was waiting on tephra to add additional signage. No update to my question on whether this will delay the inspection from NV energy. 5 months in from signing the contract, I still do not have a usable solar system.Reasons for choosing tephra:Price My house would not be tephras first for the neighborhood. They would deal with the *** approvals. Around 1/22/24, I found out that they had not installed in my neighborhood before and on the day before the install I had found out that they had also not gotten the appropriate *** approvals. I ended up having to do most of the approval work after the rep learned that he wasnt actually able to get the approvals on my behalf. He did come out and had been actively communicating with the *** when he figured the approval process was incomplete. I still had to finalize and submit the approval. The rep did take all the blame for dropping the ball. I also found out that the solar install did not come with critter guard. ******* guard was pitched to me as a standard offering in addition to warranties. I have all this information in the notes I took from the initial discussion on 10/28/23 so I could discuss with my wife. The ** communicated often. Usually that there was no update. I believe the ** should have had a better handle on verifying approvals. I was told the *** approval was done until I asked for evidence.The installation crew were friendly, answered all of my questions, and worked quickly.I hope the company to be better in the future. I warn anyone considering tephra that they will need to manage them carefully.Tephra Solar Response

**AVOID THIS COMPANY**It all started out good or so I thought... First off they will ***** you if you finance, they won't even offer the cash price (30% lower, sounds fraudulent right? 30% tax "credit"....)You'll have to start out by doing their job with the city/county/hoa for appovals and permits. Then comes the install that *** or *** not happen, and if it does happen the day you schedule. They won't finish... They'll also 100% leave nasty goop and garbage for your kids and dogs to attempt to eat. Almost guaranteed they'll fail the first inspection because they half a** all their work. Then again, they'll have to ****be* schedule the inspection weeks after install. They'll lie to the finance company that the work is completed and your loan will start before completion. The *** ***** is a joke, ask the employees, it'll entertain you. Odd that he's the only reason why some solar review websites rate this company fair, supposedly he has ceo "experience". The PM's were probably found after staying the night at a holiday inn express (find the commercials to understand).Just do yourselves a favor and stay away from this company. Unless of course you like paying someone else to do some work that you'll have to do yourself anyway.Tephra Solar Response

Mr. ************** are a few things that we would like to address with you. HOAs will not work directly with a 3rd party (anybody that is not the homeowner). This is generally listed in your agreement with your HOA. HOAs request that the homeowners apply for solar installation approval. We can assist you with any documentation needed for that application but we are unable to complete that approval process.The tax credit was discussed with you multiple times as well as on a recorded line. You understood very clearly that the tax credit is a potential of 30%. You clearly stated that you thought it was the government who was fraudulent in how they paid out tax credits and that you didnt think it was our company responsible for how those are allotted. It is a homeowners responsibility to negotiate and review financial options. We work with 7 financial institutions and have over 50 options to choose from. You selected a financial option and moved forward with signing the agreement. Our representatives work hard to get you the lowest rates possible but that decision is ultimately yours. 50% of solar companies in your area went out of business last year. We are part of the 50% of solar companies that have continued business in your area. We are in business because we have knowledgeable hardworking people who choose to work for us. Our teams are quick, clean, kind, and courteous to all of our customers. If there is an issue they are willing to correct the issue as quickly as possible.Your project from the date that your panels were installed to when your system was operational was 33 days even with having to schedule your electrical finish a month after your panel installation due to your availability.
