I bought my very first car in Genesis back in May 2022. Its not completely mine yet because I had to ask for a loan from America First to help me finance my purchase. I test drove the car and it seemed fine. I found some scratches on the car and the salesman kept repeating that those were cosmetic issues and that the car was working perfectly. The day I took the car out of the shop, I noticed a bunch of dashboard lights were on so I inmediately asked what was wrong and the salesman said that was normal and not to worry about it. After 5 days, the car started making noises and shaking. The speedometer was going crazy in the middle of the highway and a bunch of error codes began appearing. This was concerning because I rely on the vehicle to commute, so I decided to take the car to a shop. I chose Mercer Automotive (MA), because of their proximity, and they were able to work on my vehicle inmediately. My final bill with them was 2700 dollars and I can provide proof of everything they did on the car. This increased my debt because I was trusting that I was buying a car in good shape and this was totally unplanned for me. I called the saleman on the phone to tell him about all of the issues I found and he simply told me he was sorry. I visited the dealership once again after a month, when my lincense plates arrived, and confronted him once again. I showed him my bills from the mechanic shop and his only excuse was that Mercer charged me an unfair amount of money. After this fact, I still hold more faith in MA due to the promptness and quality of their work. After listing a few more excuses, the salesman offered me 200 dollars as an apology. I accepted the payment because it was at least a start. That amount is not even 10% of my total repair bill. I feel that I have been scammed by this dealer due to the repeated lies and misinformation about the vehicle. Any reputable car dealership should be upfront and honest as well as informed about the vehicles they stock/sell.
