I hit a deer with my car in early September and got some quotes. One of them was from JPs Collision. I decided to give them the work after receiving an estimate which was 5385 USD. I took the car in for this estimate and the owner took notes to make an estimate. When I took the car to the shop to get the work done I confirmed that they call me in case the price would change significantly. I talked one week later to check on the progress. They said the will be done on Monday, this was a Friday and that they had to get some more parts such as a battery and something else for 100 USD. So, I was expecting to pay close to 6000 USD. I let them know that I will be out of town and that I will get the car on Thursday. I call on Thursday, they told me the car is not ready yet but will be in the afternoon. I call again not ready yet. I got the invoice later that afternoon. It was over 7000 USD an increase of more than 30% of the initial estimate and I didn't get informed. After comparing the invoice with the estimate and looking the parts up on google, I realized that the missing part are mainly part which are clearly visible when you looked at the damage. Those were not parts which were hidden. I called the shop for an explanation. They reduced the invoice to close to 6400 USD after I told them that this is not acceptable. There excuse was that they didn't see that these parts needed to be replaced. To me, that sounds more like he tried to intentionally understating the estimated costs because those were essential parts I would expect a person who is in the business for 20 to 30 years would not forget. There were around 10 parts missing. And just to give you an example. He quoted the light but not the fog light. That is a mistake for which I cant accept an excuse such as I forgot it. Document: Green parts were in the estimate.
