Today I spoke to Virginia Classic Mustang 3 separate gift certificates were purchased as a gift given to me several years back totalling $200 and I was intentionally holding onto them until I was ready to start restoring my vehicle. The business puts 1 year expiration dates on their gift certificates and attempts to enforce that. Spoke to ******** and she was incredibly rude and almost proud of the fact that she said I wasn't able to use them and admitted that $200 was given to them yet no goods/services were provided. I tried explaining that wasn't enforceable by law and referenced the Credit Card Act of 2009. I advised that even taking the legal aspect of it out of the equation, taking $200 and admittingly not providing any goods or services was morally wrong, especially for someone that had been planning on spending a lot more money with them in the near future. Very poor customer service and refusing to honor a gift certificate with erroneous expiration dates. I'm simply trying to use the $200 that was given to them and they are refusing. ******** said the 1 year expiration date had been their policy for 40+ years and she admitted to cancelling unused gift certificates every year and no customer ever complains about it (essentially telling me that they were essentially stealing money from customers every year). This complaint was filed for several reasons....1) to make sure that my $200 given to them previously is honored in providing goods and 2) to make you aware of their unethical practices so that future customers don't endure this situation anymore. Would like this rectified expeditiously. Thank you in advance for your time.Business response

Customer trying to use expired gift certificates over 5 years old.Customer even purchased the parts and agreed to do so because of expired gift certificates. Unusual that they would still complain.
