I originally contracted with Dream Build Fairfax LLC on 4 April 2022 to renovate my kitchen and provided a deposit of $15,000. I also completed a work change order on 13 May 2022 and provided a further deposit of $6,500.None of the work contracted for was completed. On 24 October 2022 Dream Build Fairfax LLC issued a contract cancellation and stated all deposits would be refunded within 30 days of notification. As of 27 November 2022 these funds have not been returned and Dream Build Fairfax LLC owes me a refund of $21,500.All contracts and proof of funds transfer are attached to this complaint.Throughout this contract cancellation process Dream Build Fairfax has provided minimal communication, done nothing to return my money, and refuses to respond to phone calls.Initial Complaint

On April 7, 2022, I entered into a contract with Dream Build Fairfax, LLC, to renovate my one-bedroom condo, including new flooring, kitchen, bath, paint, lighting, etc. The address of my property is *****************Apt ***, Arlington, VA*********. The total contract price was $39,500. I paid $20,000 up front immediately. My contact at the business was *************************. Over the following months, he asked me for advances on several occasions and instructed me to send them to his personal bank account via *****. He claimed that due to rising material costs he had to pay for some of my stuff out of pocket. To date, I have paid him a total of $35,000. In June, a crew came in and demoed the condo, but then nothing happened after that. ***** kept coming up with various excuses that seemed legitimate at first. In July, I was getting very upset so we signed a performance clause addendum stating that he would refund me $10,000 if the work was not finished by September 2. Well, that date came and went and the work did not restart and I don't have a penny from him. He is becoming increasingly unresponsive to me. Sometimes he claims that a plumber or electrician will be working in the condo, but I go there and nobody is there and no work has been done. I need to get my money back so I can hire someone else and move on with my life.
