On April 28th 2023 My mother *********************************** was admitted to The Fairfax Senior Living facility and I was required to pay in advance $13,230 (dollars) for her care. On April 29th 2023 my mother passed away after only one day in the facility. The Fairfax business representative promised me reimbursement within 2-3 weeks of $12,771.39. It has now been 6 weeks since the passing and no reimbursement check has been provided even though I have had multiple phone conversations with the business office and all I have received is excuses and promises. It took me 5 weeks to get an invoice after providing e-mail multiple times and my address which was available on the original paperwork.Initial Complaint

My wife ************************* and I lived at Sunrise Mill Basin in Brooklyn from April of 2022 until March 7th of 2023. We decided to move out in March because we were concerned about our safety and well being as well as suffering financial duress. The concerns related to the fact that during our stay there were three fires in the building and on multiple days a resident who was mentally ill entered our apartment without our permission - including in the middle of the night. There were also times when staffing was low and we waited a very long time for requested assistance. When we moved out I had the impression that we would only be charged for the rent for the remainder of the month but discovered that we were also expected to pay a large fee for Basic Services including meals not taken for the last 23 days of the month. This came to about $5000. I paid $2900 of this in advance, but Sunrise is now attempting to collect the remaining $2100. I moved out under the impression that we would not be charged the Basic Services fee for the entire month. We moved out to save ourselves and Sunrise money but now they are insisting that we pay this unfair amount. I would like the $2900 refunded and the $2100 forgiven and our credit report made good.Customer response

Sunrise was over Charging my mother *************************** for over 6 months I asked for an adjustment to her care. They refused, so I finally had enough and decided to move her to another facility. Under the contract I signed I could give 30 day notice to move her. I moved her out on April 29th 2023. I gave 30 day notice of moving *************************** would on April 18th. I was only obligated to pay for the room from May 1st till the 18th since she no longer lived there. I paid up front in full in the amount of $2805.05 which is all ***************** Sunrise Assisted Living. Yet I keep getting bills for over 17K she does not owe. As ******'s son and POA I am filing this complaint to resolve that *************************** should have a zero balance with corp SunriseInitial Complaint

The company fairmont senior living of **************** the address is *********************************************************************** their number is ************ has not allowed the husband and son and grand daughter of a patient *************************** to leave the facility with her family they only allow her friends to visit her in her room and take her places her friend ************************* is a rich businessman for ******* and has bullied the family and told the nursing home to put these restrictions on her family and the nursing home just goes along with it because she has money
