The photos on their website are obviously not accurate. I can tell by the colors of the exterior that they're not accurate. For example, when reviewing the interior photos with the door jam you can tell one that looks burgundy in the exterior photos is actually red on the door jam. The interior photos are often blurry or pixelated. When I called the location where the car I was interested in was located to ask for additional photos they refused even though the shipping price was $1600. Sadly, now I won't get to buy that car and they lost a sale. I don't know if this was abad decision on the location or a company wide policy. Also, if they want people to basically buy a car from photos, those photos should be decent and accurate.Review from Travis A

Carmax. Here is a recommendation NOT to do business with them. We bought a 2015 ******* Elantra 12/2022 with ****** miles on it for $15,000. After 426 miles the engine died. They replaced the engine. From March 2023 until today, 18 months, we have put ***** miles on it and the engine is bad again. They will give us $2,500 for the vehicle, a $12,500 loss in less than two years on a lemon vehicle. But it is my fault because the engine warranty ended in March of this year and I didnt buy the Carmax plan.Review from Kam B

CarMax basically sold me a Lemon and refuse to rectify the issue. This vehicle has been in the mechanic shop since October 18, 2022. I been paying my car payment as well and paying for rental car. CarMax is not trying to do anything to help me which I feel it is not right. This has caused me to be in a financial bind as well as stress. I contacted ****************** Protection on October 17, 2024, ******** ***** CarMax finance Manager responded and basically called me a liar instead of reading this notes on my account! I just want out of this car!Review from David C

I purchased a 2011 **** Mustang from CarMax Ft. Lauderdale in June 2023, expecting their quality standards and ******* warranty to provide a reliable experience. Unfortunately, Ive encountered multiple unresolved issues, from suspension problems to mold in the convertible top, that have disrupted my life as a trade school student training to be an automotive technician.CarMax service department ************* has issued several repairs and multiple loaners since the beginning of October. Yet the original issues persist, affecting my ability to commute and focus on my studies. *** requested a fair resolution, such as a buyback or car swap. Was only offered an appraisal, which doesnt address the financial and practical toll this has taken on me. Instead there only will to replace the parts that did not fix the issues, with OEM parts as a resolution.I am currently reaching out to consumer protection agencies and considering legal options. I hope CarMax reconsiders their approach to customers dealing with substantial vehicle issues from there locations. This experience has been disheartening, and I would urge potential buyers to be cautious and consider these points when choosing CarMax Pompano Beach for warranties, and out of pocket repairs.Review from Joe G

I recently had a disappointing experience with CarMax that I feel compelled to share. I brought my car in, which the ***** Blue Book valued at over $12,500, but to my shock, they offered me just $8,400. I worked directly with the manager, ***** *****, who was unfriendly, cold, and rigid throughout the process.I understand that CarMax has a no-negotiation policy, but there were glaring errors in their assessment of my vehicle. I even showed them on their website that they were selling comparable cars with similar mileage for nearly double what they were offering mesome listed for as much as $15,000. When I requested to open CarMax's site together and review the assessment, both the staff and ***** flatly refused to address my concerns. Instead of engaging in a constructive conversation, they kept down-talking me, emphasizing how much experience their company has and how large they ****** add to my frustration, I sat in the waiting room for hours, feeling ignored and undervalued. I was in desperate need to sell my car, and the lack of support and understanding from the CarMax team made the experience even more frustrating. It felt like they didn't care about my situation at all. I expected a more customer-focused approach, especially given the significant difference in the valuation. I cannot recommend CarMax based on my experience and will be looking elsewhere in the future.Review from Burton E

I purchased a **** MUSTANG GT CONVERTIBLE on 10/31/2022. It was advertised as No Damage and No Accidents. I was provided an AutoCheck report that showed No Accidents. On 10/24/24 a gentleman reached out to me on inquiring about the car and he ran an AutoCheck report on the car that showed two accidents. The first accident was in May of 2018 and the second was in July of 2022 three months before I purchased the car. The accident in 2018 was damage to the rear end resulting in the bumper having to be removed and repaired/replaced. The accident in 2022 is a minor accident. Yesterday, 10/24/24, I drove straight over to CARMAX in the MUSTANG and spoke with ***** ******. He introduced himself as one of the Sales Managers. I explained to him the issue. He left the table for about 10 minutes and came back with the offer of buying the car for the trade in value as if it had not been in an accident. After trying to get them to understand that I am only trying to get my payoff (about 25K) he made it seem as if that may be possible. He then left for another 10 minutes and came back with an offer of $20,000. I told him that would not work as I was sold a car under false pretenses. He then brought out his General Store Manager, ******* ***** and he raised the offer to $22,000. Mr. ***** also had me look up the retail price on the car on *** which, with damage, was about $27,000. I then reiterated to him that I am not trying to get everything I paid back (about 33K) just my payoff amount. That I would like ****** and then they will potentially still make another profit off of the car when they resell it with the correct AutoCheck report attached. He told me point blank, "That would not be enough profit for us" and he told me no.I would not have bought this car had even a single accident been disclosed to me. I went to them immediately with an amicable solution and was told, to my face, that the solution I presented was not lucrative enough for them.Review from Shannon S

Carmax is a scam. Their motto is the way car buying should be and when you buy a car it's like new. Thats a load of c*** I bought a car from them in March of 2023 and later that year had issues with the car not being able to turn back on after you turn it off then suddenly youre able to turn it back on. their recommended mechanic through max care couldnt figure out the issue. Then the upper right tire was always low and needing refilling. Their recommended mechanic couldnt figure out that issue. eventually after one night of being stranded and my fiance needing to come pick me up, we jumped the car and it turned on. took it to car max furious and lo and behold it was the battery, they replaced it but then early 2024 we started having brake issues, front and back rotors and pads needed replacing. also the thread on the tires were low. Thats not like new. we had the car for a year at this point. tried to get carmax to replace the pads and rotors on their dime. because the car is supposed to be like new. they wouldnt. said it was our fault. normal wear and tear. and they said the tire issue was because of a small needle no one but they could find. wouldnt patch that either, our fault. even though their approved mechanic couldnt figure out the problem when they looked at it. tried different avenues of the company to get carmax to resolve this issue to customer satisfaction. part of their values are Do the Right Thing, Put People First. saw none of that. this went on for months. ultimately they said they could replace the tires, and pads and rotors at a price that was the best in town. yes because we have almost 1800 lying around. everyone does. car max doesnt care. but hey an employee of mine got a car from car max as well and ended up 6 months in with the same problem of rotors and pads. funny that. car max is a scam, liars and thieves. it took us time but we got the tires replaced and we bought pads and rotors and are saving to get the work done. CAR MAX IS A SCAM!Review from Brenda T

I was sold the wrong car and had to return it. Then the company personnel were not truthful and gave me the run around about financial issues. It was not a smooth transition buying another car from them.Review from Maliesha J

Well I purchased my car on July of 2021 remind you I had a bad car accident an had to learn how to walk again twice due to my surgerys I had so was really able was able to enjoy my car. So remind you there is nothing wrong with my car its been really sitting in my garage while went to get a oil change an the put the wrong plug in an an cause an oil leak an messed up the turbo in my car an not trying to fix their mess up an I just want my car fixed cause nothing was wrong with my car I keep the maintenance up on my 2018 Infiniti q50 an thats not right at all they need to take fault for what they did to my car. This been going on for months with this situation Ive been on them since this been going on with the grey smoke coming out of my tail pipes. They keep sending it to different dealers ships to diagnosed it and did that like three times just for them to come up with this last problem saying the turbos went out when they couldve been and fixed this problem because Ive been ahead diagnosed my car twice already. I just want my car fixed like it was nothing wrong with it.
