Two skylights and part of the roof replaced due to tree fall damage in December 2021. Water leaks appeared directly down-slope from and adjacent to both skylights after multiple rain and snow events over the next month or two. Contacted ***** with Blankenship Roofing and he sent someone out to inspect and attempt to reseal the skylights. The next and subsequent rainfall events produced more leaks. Damage to door frame, window frame and water-stained ceiling (photo attached). Multiple phone calls to *****, finally answered and agreed to come out to inspect the situation. No one showed up and repeated phone calls, voicemails, texts, and emails to his cell phone and the office have gone unanswered for several months. At this point I am not sure I would trust them to correct the situation and repair the damage that has been done, even if they agreed to do so. I want a refund or other compensation for this problem to help pay for correction and repair. Paid a total of $4200. This no way to run a BBB-accredited business.Business response

Blankenship Roofing went to the **** residence after the ****** had a tree fall on the back of their house in November of 2021. They had damage to two (2) existing skylights and the gutter on the back of the house. We proposed to replace the two existing skylights along with replacing the shingles around the skylights. We also quoted replacing the gutter on the back of the house. The work was completed in late December of 2021. In April of 2022 Mrs. **** called and said there was a small leak at the window on the back of the house. We sent a service tech to check for a leak and nothing was found from the work that we did back in December of 2021. We did mention to the homeowner that there were two satellite dishes above the area that was damaged and they may want to have them checked. On May 25th , 2022 Mrs. **** called and said there was another leak again at the window on the house. We sent a service tech out again and we resealed again as a preventative measure the skylights and also checked the gutter on the back of the house. The gutter was full to the top with water, debris and leaves. The tech cleaned out the gutter so the water could drain. The wiring from the satellite dishes was laying in the gutters also. The tech informed the ****** about the gutter and that could cause water to leak inside. We spoke to the ****** about their leaks numerous times. Blankenship Roofing Co., Inc was contracted to remove and replace 2 skylights and replace the gutter on the rear of house and the work we did was done correctly. Mr. **** was suppose to meet one of our representatives several weeks ago and never called to schedule. In our opinion we believe the ****** have other issues with back of their house from where the tree fell on to the roof.Blankenship Roofing has made numerous attempts at no cost to the ***** to help them.Customer response

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. There is evidence of a leak in the vicinity of each f the two skylights replaced. See photo. Both of these are above the highest possible level of any standing water in the gutter, therefore could not have been caused by that. The satellite dishes have been mounted to the roof for many years with no evidence of any leaks until after the work was done by Blankenship Roofing. The dishes are above one of the skylights, but no where near the other unit. A falling tree did damage the gutter and one of the skylights but the other one was replaced as well in order to match. All of the roofing shingles between and around the skylights were replaced by Blankenship with no report of any damage. The last time I talked to ***** by phone he said he would call me the following week to arrange a meeting. He did not call and my numerous subsequent phone calls, at least one text and at least one email went unanswered and were not returned. I called the office twice and left messages with their answering service, which were never returned. The statements in the business response regarding the attempted contacts are not true. There were other issues with the work as well. Example, the proposal listed Velux as the skylight manufacturer but they supplied some other brand, which I have not been able to identify. Also, roofing nails were strewn across the deck where people and pets could step on them. Regards, **** ****Business response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me IF certain reasonable conditions are met, such as a written warranty/leak guarantee. The business can contact me to discuss conditions and hopefully schedule the work. Phone ************. I will wait for the business to perform this action. Regards, **** ****
