Transaction date: 2/20/2023 Business offered meetups with singles for a monthly price. When signed up, I found the events require payment (even for free public events like outdoor yoga in the park). I was told I could freeze the membership if I ever started a relationship, then was told payments would continue even when the account is frozen. Starting membership amount $2835 Request to end membership started on 3/17/2023 Now collection has started on my credit in October 2023. ****************** is the collection agency.

Ms. ******* signed up for an 18 month contract term with our company on 02/20/2023. All new members meet with our Membership Representatives via a Zoom call. They discuss the services our company offers, as well as the potential members interests to ensure that they align with our companys standards. If our Membership Representative finds the new member to be a good fit they offer a membership for them to accept or decline. She paid an initiation payment of $500.00 with monthly payments of $129.72 until paid in full.

Below is a copy of our freeze policy listed in her contract:

Payments remain owed even if you choose to freeze your account, it saves the time for use at a later date. She was past the cancellation deadline in her contract thus the full balance remains owed. She requested to cancel her account with us on 04/03/2023, she would have needed to cancel by 02/23/2023.
As Ms. ******* stopped making payments of her membership after 05/20/2023 she was sent to our third party collection agency Keynote on 11/06/2023. As we no longer hold her account she needs to resolve this balance with Keynote. They can be reached at **************.

I as duped by a business that prays of single people and their loneliness. I was mislead about the business and not getting services as advertised and they refuse to refund or cancel my membership. I was told I can attend singles events but not told there are to 10 person limits/event limits/ and sign up deadlines, I was told I could try it out for a month but find out later that there is only a 3 day cancellation window to cancel. I signed up the last day of a month and asked to start membership in the next day because it was so late in the evening but was I was charged a full month for that one day anyway. Evey event has an additional participation fee that was not disclosed. They require a membership fee, then a monthly due fee, and now a event fee, that is too much. No dating service or gym membership is over $200 a month, I have paid for a 2 year membership $2,775 and I am not getting anything for money that I have paid. They have not delivered as advertised. It is clear to me that they have intentionally designed a 3 day cancellation window to keep people's money and designed their business to take people money, not on customer satisfaction or a fair service for all the money that they charge. The pictures they sent me while attempting to recruit me/sales pitch do not remotely come close to the participation of actual events. This is very misleading and misrepresenting themselves and the attendance of events, or lack thereof. I politely requested to cancel my membership and explained I was moving to a state that was no where near another location and I would not be able to use their service and again my request to cancel was denied and they refuse to stop my membership or a refund. Can someone help with their unethical business practices and misleading people.

Mr. ***** signed up for a 24 month membership with us on 08/28/2024. We are a singles activities club, not a discount club for events. We provide a safe environment for singles to meet up, have fun, and relax with everything planned for them. Any events where we provide food, purchase tickets, or reserve spots do have a cost to them. All of our events have different attendee limits, the amount depends on the venues we book.
Our Membership Representatives meet with all potential members to screen them and make sure that they will be a good fit with us. We show photos from events that we host to show them what the club has to offer. If we feel they are a good fit the Membership Representative will go over the membership options and give them the opportunity to sign up.
Mr. ***** made the decision to sign up with our club and signed our membership agreement. We have a specific section that requires a signature beneath our cancellation policy.

In order to cancel his membership to get a refund he would have needed to cancel by 09/02/2024. We did not receive a cancellation request until 09/27/2024. As his account stands the remaining balance is owed to our company pre his legally binding contract. Our Resolutions Specialist has been in contact with Mr. ***** and we have offered him different options to close out his account. We suggest Mr. ***** continues to work with us until we can resolve his account. He can reach our ********************** at ****************************************************************.

Events & Adventures is well-overdue for having a class lawsuit filed against them for fraudulent and unethical business practices, to include knowingly committing financial fraud by demanding payment for unused/non-received services in violation of Consumer Protection laws. This unreputable business entity knowingly provides incompetent social platform services, falsely advertising expectations to intentionally mislead and lure in new participants. When their Resolutions team is reasonably and intelligently approached regarding processing a formal cancellation of the undeniably amiss membership to their subpar organization as the inherent result of unsatisfactory performance of their contracted services, E&A proceeds to incompetently subject users to unsound (and federally illegal) cancellation stipulations, demanding payment for services not rendered. As previously stated, a class lawsuit is well overdue.

**************** signed up for an 18 month contract with our company on 04/27/2024. She paid her initiation payment of $200.00 ON 04/27/2024 but has not paid anything further towards her membership. She requested to cancel her account on 05/24/2024, to be within the valid cancellation period she would have needed to cancel by 05/01/2024 to be valid for a refund. Below is the cancellation policy on her contract that clearly states she has 3 business days to cancel for a refund. We require a signature to draw the members eye here. It is our hope that our new members are reading through their contracts before signing their agreement to them.

We offer a service to our members, similar to a gym membership. If you dont use it you still need to pay for the monthly service as it was ready and available for use. If a member decides not to participate in the club that is their decision, however we are providing services that they signed up for.
As her account stands the balance remains legally owed per the contract she signed with us. If we do not receive payment for over 90 days Ms. ******* account is in danger of being sent to our third party collections agency Keynote. We urge her to continue to work on her account balance with Resolutions.

I am rejecting this response because: As a consumer-based business, you are not exempt from Consumer Protection Laws. E&As services were deemed UNSATISFACTORY, hence the formal submission of a request for all business affiliation (the pretend contract) to be fully terminated upon immediate discovery of such fact about your companys inability to deliver quality services. Should you, for some reason, not understand what UNSATISFACTORY PERFORMANCE OF SERVICES means as it pertains to fraudulent request/receipt of payment for said UNSATISFACTORY services, it is highly recommended that you pursue legal education and wisdom through more competent legal counsel. Additionally, your retaliatory response to the above BBB complaint where you have proceeded to sheepishly attempt to bully your customer via email by jumping from warning them of a 90-day countdown until you report the cancelled account to collections (Notice 1 sent/received on 7/30/2024; see attached) to suddenly warning of it now being instead a 60-day countdown exactly 10 days after the first notice was provided (Notice 2 sent/received on 8/9/2024; see attached), further exposes and unequivocally proves E&As inadequacy as a business entity from the top down. This type of hostility, abuse of power, and behavior toward both a Military Veteran and ****************** employee is both bewildering and highly alarminga heinous act certainly not going unnoticed. E&A has proven, and continues to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are NOT a company to go into any type of business with under any circumstance or influence. Best of luck in your business endeavors and the foreseeable future legal happenings.

      Sincerely,

      *************************

I was tricked into buying a misrepresented service, with the assurance on a "reasonable" return policy after the 3 day window on their contract... this should be available on the recorded intake call they had with me, there are records of these lies they made. But I was denied the refund based on a technicality in their contract. Their employees are lying on sales calls and contradicting the details in the contract they get you to sign at the end. I've been trying to dispute this with their support team but they've been very uncooperative and essentially just ignoring my reasoning. I used 1/18 of my subscription and I want a return that is proportional to my outstanding credit. Clearly foul business practices going on here, with zero respect or care for their customers and willfully ignoring the evidence here.

**************** signed up for an 18 month membership with our club on 04/29/2024. He requested to cancel his account on 06/05/2024, he would have needed to cancel by 05/02/2024 to be considered valid for a refund. As he was well outside of this cancellation period he is not due a refund. Per his legally binding contract **************** agreed to our policies, we require a signature directly beneath this to draw the members eye to read through this.

Our Resolutions Specialist has reach out to **************** explaining the policy. New members are welcome to attend events within that 3 day window, however we honor the terms agreed upon on their contract. Our sales representatives know our cancellation policy and would not inform new members that they can cancel at any time as this is strictly not the case.

I am seeking a refund from this club and have been unsuccessful in communicating via email with the resolution team at Events & Adventures. During my time as a member, I attended multiple events. I do not wish to go into lengthy detail or talk poorly about anyone, but due to the behavior of other members, this experience has been truly negative. At the beginning I felt mildly uncomfortable at these events, but it escalated into embarrassment and disappointment, significantly influencing my decision to cancel my membership. When I initially signed up for the membership, I had high expectations based on the information provided about the club's offerings and events. Unfortunately, my experience has not aligned with those expectations, and I have found that the club does not meet the description provided upon sign-up. I would not be asking for a refund if I believed this is what I signed up for. I understand the company isn't legally obligated to give me a refund. However, this feels extremely unethical. The cancellation policy allows for only 3 days. I did not attend any event within the first three days after agreeing to the membership, as I am sure is the case for most new members. I was also asked to sign the agreement during the initial interview, which did not allow for enough time to read the agreement thoroughly.

********************** signed up with Events and Adventures on April 29th, 2024 via Zoom after meeting with a Membership Representative.  In this meeting it is discussed as to what our membership entails as well as confirming if the club is a good fit on both sides.  ********************** decided she wanted to purchase a one year membership.  An agreement was sent via our signing website.  It is at this time that ********************** was to review the agreement before signing.  The agreement sent includes what is being purchased:

Once the agreement was signed access to our website was given in which she was able to review and sign up for the events that are provided as stated  in the agreement. ********************** has signed up for a total of nine events with Events and Adventures. On July 8th, 2024 ********************** requested to cancel her membership.  The agreement that was originally signed lays out the three day cancellation window. By the time the cancel was requested she was outside of that time frame. We require the member to sign directly below to help make sure the person signing is indeed reading this information.

In every city we have a designated Event Manager who creates new events every single month.  We have new members signing up daily.  We recommend reaching out to her designated Event Manager for suggestions on events that might better suit her interests. There is always a new crowd at every event due to the consistency of new people joining.

I am rejecting this response because:

You listed all the logistic facts about signing up for the Events & Adventures process which was accurate. What you failed to address was the experience I had after attending four events trying to give the club a fair chance to live up to what I was lead to believe in the interview. I signed up for Goat Yoga, it was cancelled. I signed up for a walk around a lake, we did not go far due to the groups wish to not walk very much. The last event I attended was a weekday afternoon happy hour; our group was asked to order an uber for a member of the party because she was asleep at the bar before she came back to our table and barfed on the floor. Throughout this experience I was insulted and uncomfortable. I understand what I signed up for. This club was not at all what I signed up for. I understand why I was encouraged to attend multiple events before coming to any kind of conclusion about the club, but that does not leave any protection for me as a member if the cancellation policy is only 3 days. I can only imagine this is on purpose. Please consider I had the highest of hopes for this club and the promises that were made, it is with great disappointment that I seek to cancel my membership and seek a refund.

      Sincerely,

DO NOT SIGN UP!!! Context: I am a disabled veteran who had just moved to the ******* area and decided to add E&A to my list of activities to get out and meet new people in the area. After realizing that you can LITERALLY go on Meetup, ******************** events, etc for FREE I decided to cancel my membership (or so I thought).I hadnt been to a single event yet, hadnt had my membership for even a week, and emailed them right back telling them I wanted out. They have a 3 day cancellation policy that has to be done by certified mail, so my email that I sent them apparently didnt count. They wanted $2500 to cancel, and when I told them to freeze my account they continued to charge me and eventually sent me to a collections agency. Bottom line is, this place is a complete scam and I cannot believe that this is how they treat our countries veterans. All of the events they planned were far as ****, the hosts and people in the corporate office that I talked to were extremely rude, and I could not recommend this place any less.

In December 2022, I saw an advertisement on Instagram about Events and Adventures and decided to give it a try.An interview was scheduled, during which a representative explained that the concept was about single people mingling through various activities like travels, night events etcThe representative asked me several questions about myself and informed me that I could join the club. During the video call, she sent me several emails and insisted I sign the documents right away to avoid losing some discounts. She mentioned that if I decided to leave after registration, I wouldnt be able to come back, but she never said I couldn't leave if I wanted to.Shortly after, I started making my monthly payments. Before I had a chance to participate in any activities, I met my partner in February 2023. I informed Events and Adventures that I wanted to cancel my subscription since I was no longer single and saw no point in participating in activities for single people. They then informed me of a clause that I only had three days to cancel after the subscription and that I needed to send a marriage certificate to cancel.Recently, I received an email threatening to send me to collections if I do not pay about $2,000. Despite multiple interactions with different representatives, they kept telling me I am past my cancellation deadline and discussing settlement.I am not seeking reimbursement; I just want to be relieved of any further financial obligations.

We advise ************ to continue working with Resolutions to resolve her account balance. If we do not receive payment for over 90 days her account will be in danger of going to our third party collections agency. As of now the last payment we have received from ************ was on 06/20/2023. We have already held her account off longer than we normally would to give her a chance to resolve the balance. *picture proof below* I was backed into a contract with Events and Adventures, reviewing the reviews I see on this platform please I urge you believe them. They are all true. The responses that are added to these reviews are what you will receive when you try to cancel at any time. I tried to cancel two days into the contract and was met with being backed into the wall with scare tactics. Seems like a good deal to me! You can cancel if youre in a relationship down the road! Well after Ive tried 3X now to cancel we are here. Do not join, you will be forced to spend thousands. It is not a fun program, everyone there will tell you the same. Everyone has a horror story when it comes to them but they spent in full and go to the events to try to get use of it so they do not feel like they poured money down the drain actual quote from someone who paid in full. When you try to reach out to them its talking to a wall, you wont get anywhere. They are rude and unpleasant people.

I am rejecting this response because: Did not see the emails, they may have gotten mis filtered. Did not get one phone call from them regarding a past due payment. Very quick to blame the client for their despicable customer service. A phone call might be nice before ruining someone's reputation. The legally binding contract does not add up with what I was told over the phone. Instead of trying to tell people to read a piece of paper how about telling them up front this is a legally binding contract. My best friend had the same issue with them. When did decent customer service become a privilege?! The economy is rough right now and people are getting laid off! I can barely keep food on the table for my child let alone pay for an 18 month contract which by the way is for SINGLE PEOPLE ONLY!!. I am no longer single and haven't been for 6 months. I already paid ******* consulting who were much more professional about this and didn't give me any disrespect that I got from events and adventures. Wasted $1,000+ dollars of my hard earned money on a scam when I was no longer even eligible for the program at the time!

BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this business, please let the business know that you contacted BBB for a BBB Business Profile.
