Poulsbo Heating Co Response
05/02/2023
********************* was in peril.
The pending sale of her home was in jeopardy because she failed to decommission her Heating Oil Tank after 30+years of ownership.
In violation of both the International Fire Code (*** 5704.2.13) as well as Uniform Fire Code (UFC 3404).
In her haste to salvage the pending sale of her home.
She frantically began calling numerous companies and received a large amount of misinformation.
A contractor had responded and said the tank contents were over 20 (approx. 160 gallons) of Heating Oil that required pumping.
********************* was referred to Poulsbo Heating Company by that contractor.
Poulsbo Heating Company is a ******** PLIA provider since 1995.
Poulsbo Heating Company scheduled an Inspection of the Heating Oil Tank and were promptly paid for our services.
Invoice # *****
Due to the prior contractor's information, she doubted our professional opinion.
We made a 2nd trip as a courtesy (no charge) to verify the contents to prove what we were telling her.
Did she file a complaint/review with the BBB about the misinformation she received from the first contractor? NO
********************* informed us; the sales contract had been withdrawn and the urgency was gone but needed to have the tank properly decommissioned.
********************* was given a Verbal Quote to decommission the Heating Oil Tank and she accepted.
Sounds like she made an Informed Choice but NO, she is entering into a new sales contract to sell her home.
No details per the sales agreement were relayed but the pressure to complete the decommissioning ASAP was on.
Poulsbo Heating Company skipped a Vital Step which was to write a Formal Proposal & Acceptance for her signature.
At this point, she or her **** Estate Agent may have been prompted to ask questions.
Expected Invoice & Payment Details
Sales Agreement requirement re: Tank Decommissioning
Permit Requirements
Final Letter of Decommissioning
Closing Date
Due to the homeowners NEED - The tank decommissioning was completed as quickly as possible on Wednesday,04/05/23.
********************* was emailed an invoice on Tuesday, 04/11/23.
She was offered the payment options of Money Order/Cashiers Check or Credit Card.
We choose to be upfront &honest regarding a processing fee of 5% if using a credit card.
With any and all transactions there is a processing fee associated (no matter if your aware or not).
********************* said she would mail a check.
On Tuesday, 04/11/23 we were asked for the first time about the Permit and Final Letter.
********************* said it was required for her closing and the closing date was looming.
She was advised she must pay for the services rendered before a final letter would be provided.
********************* wanted the Permit and Final Letter immediately.
On Wednesday, 04/12/23 ********************* went to the ***************** for the very first time.
She met with a permitting Officer from the ***************** who explained the permit process and that the Invoice was not enough.
Beths walk-away was Poulsbo Heating Company is to blame for her not obtaining a permit in a timely fashion.
We never discussed the online permit process outside of the homeowner was to obtain for Escrow closing.
We have applied for many permits for tank decommissioning over the years as a PLIA provider.
We have a good relationship with *****************.
**** is furious at this point;she wants her Final Letter & Permit (NOW).
********************* said we held the Final Letter Hostage.
Quite the contrary: Throughout the entire transaction we responded promptly to each and every email.
We offered to waive the credit card processing fee and suggested a Cashiers Check.
Either one of those payment options we would hand deliver the final letter.
********************* agreed to pay for services rendered and another courtesy meeting was set on Sunday, 4/16/23.
Payment was received and the Final Letter was hand delivered.
The Tank Decommissioning was completed per the *** and UFC as well as PLIA of WA standards.
It was an abrupt & rude meeting but at least complete.
NO!!
On Monday, 04/24/23 after the closing of her property that incurred with no delay caused by Poulsbo Heating.
We received a deplorable email informing us she was filing a complaint with the BBB and with the referring contractor.
On Friday, 04/28/23 a negative review was received by the BBB.
The complaints on 04/24/23 &4/28/23 are disgusting and slanderous and will affect our business credibility moving forward.
False claims should not be acknowledged by any platform visible to the public to spew hatred &prejudice.
Poulsbo Heating Company was Professional, Informative and Kind from start to finish with this client.
