I left my vehicle in the mechanic's care, and things including my social security card and passport were stolen from my vehicle while it was on their lot because they failed to secure it. I found belongings in my vehicle that were not mine and have reason to believe a homeless person slept in it. They claim to have no cameras and no liability. I called them out for negligence and informed them I would be contacting a lawyer. The car was there for a total of 8 days before they demanded that I remove it or they would tow it to an impound yard. I tried to tow it this morning, and they have blocked it in so that I can't remove it without paying their inspection fee.The last time I took my car in for service, they neglected to tighten lug nuts on three of my wheels, and I almost lost a wheel.Business response

In regards to ************************ report to the BBB. I'm sorry that she was displeased with the service she received at our facility. I did help her with both of her visits.
In regards to failing to "secure" her vehicle while it was in our parking lot; her vehicle was dropped off during non-business hours over the weekend. The driver's door did not lock. She had a rope system she used to secure the driver's door. One of our technicians figured out how to undo it and inspected the vehicle for her runability concern. Afterwards, each night we parked one of our vehicles very tightly to the driver's door to prevent/ discourage someone from getting into the vehicle. I couldn't verify if someone had or had not been in her vehicle due to the large amount of items inside. I do, however, believe we took every precaution to help protect her vehicle while parked in our lot. Every repair shop does warn all customers that items left in the vehicle will be the customer's personal responsibility and warns against leaving any items of value. We have a sign in our office stating such. I'm sorry if she had items missing as we all value our belongings.
It is worth noting that we inspected her vehicle the Monday after it was dropped off and gave her an estimate on the needed repairs. She declined having the repairs done the following day and then left her vehicle at our facility for a total of 2 weeks. We did not charge her for storage or even the diagnostics. Unfortunately, it took notifying the customer that I'd have to call to report her vehicle abandoned and have it towed before she made arrangements to pick it up from our parking lot.
