On Dec. 23rd, 2021, business owner came to my house and picked up my puppy and was very friendly and seemed qualified to be a dog sitter. When I returned on Jan. 1, 2022 I went to her house to retrieve my puppy. I found 10 dogs gated in the kitchen, and a big round cage that my puppy was in. At that time, ***** forcefully said the only place this dog belongs is in the pound. I asked her not to say that again. At that point she reiterated, that dog belongs no where but in the pound. I more forcefully told her to not say that again. This happened a total of 3 times. When I got the puppy home, he was obviously wounded, and cowered when I put my hand over him to retrieve him from his carrier. His nose was either burned or smashed. He was docile and has not yet come back to being the puppy he was when I left. My puppy has lost somewhere between 4 and 5 pounds. I would like a refund of the payment I made of $144. I intend to take my dog to a vet as soon as I can get an appointment and would like the business to pay for the medical bills. I have yet to get an appointment.Business response

I did make the comment about taking the dog to the pound and I deeply regret that I said it at all and more than once and apologized to her several times about it. I had never said anything like that to a client in the past.
I had just spent over a week with him having diarrhea multiple times a day. Owee refused to go outside to p*** or pee. He is normally put out on a small balcony in her third floor apartment to potty. The whole time he peed and pooped in the dog room or on an washable potty pad in the very large (6x9) dog crate for overnights. He ate all his food as instructed, which included rice and/or oatmeal for the diarrhea. I had contacted her early on about the diarrhea and apparently he had diarrhea in the past and ***** told me to add rice to his food. However, it didnt help. I have pictures of him not showing any such injuries. I also have a witness to his behavior and the diarrhea.
I am confused why she contacted the BBB after 6 days. She was there for ***** minutes waiting for a ride and holding the dog and loving on it and made no comments of any kind except to chastise me about my language. Nothing was mentioned about the dog being unhappy, depressed, hurt, or skinny. On Sunday she texted asking for her measuring spoon and it was returned two days later. At no time from pickup on Saturday until her complaint to the BBB on Thursday did she contact me with any complaints about Owee on supposed weight loss, behavior, need for a vet, or anything. Had she complained about anything I would have addressed the issue with her.
I do not believe that she is owed a refund for the stay, based on all the problems I dealt with that week.
