I had hired Family General Construction to re-do the front steps to our home in fall 2023. They completed the demo portion just fine, however, when they re-poured the concrete, they raised the level of the porch above the door threshold, which makes no sense. This in turn destroyed our screen door (Which was a slide across the door, not a standard door). Additionally, there are multiple cracks that are running throughout the landing in front of the front door.Due to the bad weather that rolled in immediately after they poured the landing and the steps, Villi, the owner/contact for Family General, had promised they would come out in the spring and finish the sides of the stairway where they removed the slate slabs. This has not been completed.I have called and texted Villi, as well as sent a request through their website, and with the exception of one call in April, I have been completely ignored. I not only have an incomplete job, but the workmanship on what they did do is horrible, not what I paid for. I originally just wanted them to complete the job, but after being ignored for 4 months, I would like to seek a refund so that I can hire someone who can demolish what they did and will complete the job correctly. I do have pictures that I sent to Villi, but they are on my other media device which can be uploaded if there are any questions on this issue.

      Good Morning *******

Hope this email, finds you well on this Thursday morning. Again I would like to thank you, for that phone call, you have reached out to us that afternoon, we do apologize for not responding to any of the emails we just havent been getting and reading our emails due to busy and a lot has happened through out the  year, health issues and a lot more, again thank you.

Therefore, before I mention Viliamu Stowers, statement, regarding ***** ******* complaint,

First I would like to say after our conversation I had to check if I had recognized, this client of ours.

Yes indeed they were the couple that was satisfied and happy with the work and payed for the job Family General Construction had completed for them.

******* First thing first, when Family General Construction (Viliamu Stowers) is contacted by a phone call, text messages or by and agent for jobs, he is asked to see if he is available to come out to do a estimate for a client, If Viliamu makes it to the client, shows and explain what is expected by the client and what their needs are asked, Viliamu, would make it reasonable for them and explain he will send the estimate and see if they (Client) would agree with the price and move forward.

Family General Construction, we work with clients and make it reasonable and make sure their work is done in a timely and satisfying for them.

***** *******, project was excepted and was aware of the price, and he excepted so first we have asked for half down payment first before the job starts, the rest would be payed when the job is completed.

Viliamu Stowers, was asked if he was aware of this complaint, and if there was any issue during the time of him working on ***** *******, project? According to Viliamu, ***** ******* job was for the concrete, *****, was satisfied and happy of the work that is why the 2nd payment was given and completed.

Viliamu, mentioned he had received a call from *****, a couple of weeks after the work was completed and payed for, ***** mentioned if he can come back and check the concrete again because they had pulled out the screen door and ruin the concrete, so Viliamu, mentioned his response to *****, he will try to make it out there due to his busy with other projects thats already scheduled up for.

******* Viliamu honestly doesnt know why there is a complaint, but the job was completed and paid for the damage was done by him not family General Construction

Thank you again have a great day.

if you have any other questions, please dont hesitate to reach out.

      Complaint: 22083435

I am rejecting this response because:

The statement from ***** is incomplete.

While the initial cement pour was completed, they NEVER attempted to finish the side walls of the steps which were part of our agreement. We sent a text message after looking at the poured staircase landing to ******** about the fact they encased our screen door and poured the concrete above the door threshold.  I spoke to Villi on the phone and he confirmed he would come out and look at it.  He stopped by and asked me what I wanted to do about it and I told him I needed a solution so that we could install a new screen door without it scraping the cement that was poured above the height of the threshold and he said he would think on it and get back to me.  That was the last time he spoke to me.  He did pick up my call one time after that, but immediately hung up.  After we took off our screen door, there were no cracks in the concrete as shown in one of the attachments.  We placed a door mat in front of the door and when we moved it there were several cracks in the concrete running from the house towards the stairs.  There are also cracks from the stairs towards the door, so for ***** to say we destroyed the concrete inaccurate and the fact that Family General hired someone who did a bad job on our landing and has now been ignoring us for months and left us with an incomplete job which makes the stairs look pretty bad.

Regarding the payment in full.  Yes, we paid half up front. Then, when the initial stair pour was completed, Villi asked if we could pay him since he had some upcoming expenses that needed to be paid and that he ensured us that he would come out and finish the sides of the stairs (Which were demolished but not fixed).  Maybe we were **** to make the final payment prior to completion of the work, but the proposal that was given to us with the scope of work was NOT completed and I have multiple texts showing his lack of response to any of my requests.  Additionally, I could only attach 5 screenshots and pictures, additional pictures of the sides of the steps can be sent if needed.  We originally asked for half of our money back to fix the issues, but after being ignored and having Family General say that they have completed their work, we are asking for a full refund in order to get the work done that is needed to correct the issues in full.

      Sincerely,

      ***** *******
