I moved into the apartment at ************** on May 31st, 2022. Around the 10th of June I noticed and reported black mold in the bathroom walls above the shower. Pics attached below. By this time I had also developed a cough which was confirmed to be due to mold exposure when I went into *********** on June 23rd. I notified the landlord around June 10th of the mold and they said they would add us to the maintenance list and that the list was long so it would probably be awhile before anyone could come to look at it. I pressed the urgency of this issue and asked for someone to come sooner due to myself and my roommate being sick from the mold exposure. The lady on the phone once again said that there is "nothing I can do and you will have to wait. You are on the list." I gave them 3 days to come to the apartment and no one showed up. Around the 15th of June I called the **************************************** and talked to ****. **** came to our apartment within the next couple days and confirmed there was mold in the bathroom. **** said he would be in contact with the landlord to resolve the issue. Within a week or two University Area Housing did show up, but only painted over the mold with white paint in the bathroom. Fast forward to November 26th, ******************** our bathroom sink causing our apartment to flood. The water damage is quite extensive including electrical damage causing loss of power in both bedrooms, living room and fridge/freezer in the kitchen. I notified them immediately of the water leak and electrical damage but it took over 24 hours for them to follow up with our message left on the emergency line of their business regarding our loss of power. On Saturday November 26th after the water leak was stopped, I asked the landlord about the safety of our property and expressed our concern and it was dismissed. We were never offered an alternate place to stay although our apartment was clearly unsafe to stay in and a hazard for electrocution.
