      I purchased an expensive dehumidifier (model 1830) in 2014. Had questions about using so i called and spoke to the cust serv supervisor. She was easy to get on the phone and answered all my questions. She said these units once set up require nothing other than clng the filter every 6 mo. I noticed how quickly it reduced the humidity and shut off til the level rose & it would turn on again. The next year the unit stopped working so i called her back and she had me test it by pressing buttons on top. It had leaked all the freon out. She said they have had problems with them doing this & set me up for a rplmt new unit. She told me to call her if i have any issues with the new one. The new unit once set up seemed fine. I started to notice the unit running all the time. I have health problems that i needed to deal with. Last year i called and learned the cust serv sv was no longer there, i spoke to a guy in tech dept. I was told after testing it to raise the humidity level & use it like that. I questioned what was happening to it. This season the unit was running but not doing its job. This week i called & really wanted to speak to the new cust serv sv. They tryed to get me to speak to tech, i said no, i want the cust serv sv. She has never called me. I got a call from a tech guy, called him back, then another guy called me. I told him at least 3 times i wanted to speak to the cust serv sv, he wouldn't let me. We spoke, he told me the 3 of them spoke about this and they were not going to help me with this as the warranty is now expired. I had to try to get him to listen to me and stop talking over me. He told me call BBB. It wasn't a good conversation. Today a got a call from the 1st tech guy, i asked him to help me test the unit, which he nicely did. My unit looks like NEW but is junk now as he said it lost the freon and may have a bad compressor, he wasnt sure. They replaced it once & won't replace it or help me with it. I want to spk to someone high up in corporate!

      We have spoken with **** several times, and unfortunately, were unable to find a resolution to his liking. As noted, the current unit in question was several years outside of warranty, and we were unable to even confirm there was an issue with the unit since complete troubleshooting was not done.

      The company is lying! NO resolution was ever offered. He had me test it by pressing buttons on top. The readout temperature numbers of the test showed the dehumidifier had lost/leaked the freon out(just like my first unit had the year after getting it new). This is why the unit is running all the time. He admitted my unit would not dehumidify without freon. Futher testing is/was not required. I am very curious if the CEO of an 85 year old company like Research Products (Aprilaire) would sign off on such unprofessional conduct?! My 1990s Toyota never lost its freon and the a/c is still ice cold. My homes a/c was installed in 1994, never lost its freon and still works as day one, ice cold. My 1998 Whirlpool refrigerator still works as new, never lost its freon. It is unacceptable for a very expensive dehumidier to lose it's freon! I WOULD LIKE TO SPEAK TO THE CEO'S ASSISSTANT OR AT LEAST - *** ********** *****, Administrative Service Manager. Thank You

      Humidity reading on the controller is much higher than actual level (high end thermostat). So, on max, it doesnt run enough to keep up with the demand. It shuts off too early. sensor is bad and the company wants me to send it from ****** to the US at my expense so they can ( test it) before they can send me a replacement. of course thats not worth it.Company doent want to send a replacement and their suggestion to solve the problem is i have to buy a new controller at my own expense as well!!!!WHAT A CRAPPY SERVICE!!!Ended up being a complete waste of money and time.
